The oldest amusement parks in the world are: 1: Dyrehavsbakken (the Dear Park Hill) or just Bakken (the Hill) about 10 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark: 1583 2: Wurstelprater, Vienna, Austria: 1766 3: Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen: 1843 If you ever come back, you should see Tivoli after dark. Many have described it as magical.

I always give the recommendation similar to yours, that people should arrive before dark to see Tivoli Gardens in the daylight, but also stay and have a look when all the lights come on. And of course I also recommend coming back for each season that Tivoli is open.

And (Duck) with Brune Kartofler (Caramelized Potatoes), Sovs (Sauce) and Rødkål (Braised Red Cabbage) is a classic danish dish, especially around Christmas. You should learn to make caramelized potatoes yourself, it is dead easy.

The guy on the horse is King Frederik V Made by Jacques-François-Joseph Saly and was finished in 1771. It took 14 years to complemte it and ended up costing more than all of the castles building surronding it combined... We can say playing Lego's (Lege med Lego) But We do not say gardens, but just Tivoli (Teavolee) Fun Facts: 1. Walt Disney got his idea of Disneyland after visiting Tivoli, and went here a lot of times to take notes for his "project" 2. Tivoli is the second oldest themepark in the world, the oldest is Bakken, just outside Copenhagen. 3. The show you saw is called Pantomime (so you are correct about the miming :- ) 4. Lot of, well allmost all fairytails from H.C. Andersen are very dark. You should try to find the original Little Mermaid tale... It's REALLY dark, but a great story! 5. You did say Amalienborg quite good! ;-)

Compared to the state budget of the time, that statue is likely the most expensive thing in Denmark. Relatively, it cost more than the bridge over Storebælt.

I loved my time in denmark (im irish), but i spent most of my time just there for the roskilde music festival (2013) - which btw was the best festival ive ever been to. i could go on about that but wont, ill just say about copenhagen, i had about 8 hours to waste before my flight so i checked out the red bus open top tour tourist trap, just to see the price. After a quick chat with the guy selling tickets, me saying that i had a flight that evening and it wasnt worth it for 20kr or so, he gave me a ticket for 5kr instead which was perfect. i got to go tour the city, get out of the heat for a bit and calm my sunburn, have some quick naps on the bus, and visit all the big sites in the city while i wasted my time until my flight. It was a great end to the trip because i would have been just sitting in the airport for half a day otherwise. i will add about the festival, that our neighour camp of about 15-20 danish people took us 2 irish into their camp like we were their own and made the festival a brilliant experience. they were so welcoming, and jesus that festival... i have never seen so many beautiful people per capita in my life... i might have a type lol, but ive never fallen in love every 5 seconds while walking to breakfast like that before lol. Glad you had a good time too, i hope to go back some day, still have the campsite friends i made over there as friends on facebook

Sure all the lego spaceships and stuff are cool but the real strength of lego is just putting regular random bricks in a big box and let the kids build whatever they want. I remember from when I was young my grandma had a big wooden box on the floor with lots of legos and we built all kinds of things. My favorite of course was the Technic lego's with gears and stuff.

I’m so happy that you had a wonderful first trip to Europe and I hope you get to see many more country’s around the world. Next time if you should decide to come back to Denmark you should try either at Christmas or if in summertime make sure to get some help to get tickets to Tivoli on one of those Fridays where you will get a free concert either it’s big names in Denmark or there’s are some quite famous international bands too playing. And it’s only the entrance that costs.

It is pronounced LEGO - without the S at the end :D Well - if you do not know it is an abbreviation of the Danish "Leg godt" (first 2 letters of each word) - and the "Leg godt" translates into English as "Play well". I am 54 - and I still love LEGO. Mostly the bigger sets now that I can afford them! So my home has probably around half a million bricks now - and about 15 models assembled round about :D And finally your first abroad travel goes to Denmark - my birth place - well thumbs up. Most people, even Danes, tend to forget that the medieval part of Copenhagen was surrounded by bastions and a moat up to the mid 1850s. The lake in Tivoli Gardens is actually a remnant of the moat that surrounded Copenhagen. Tivoli Gardens was opened first time in 1843. From 1847 to 1864, the first central train station in Copenhagen partly took up a good chuck of one of the current corners of Tivoli Gardens as it is laid out today. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Copenhagen.

I was in Copenhagen a few months prior to you going there I believe. I did a cruise throughout the Scandinavian countries, and the excursion I did took me to Christiansborg Palace and Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli was a very unique place to experience. I understand your confusion trying to get into Tivoli though. On my excursion we got dropped off at the front gate, but our tour guide told us that if we exited via any of the other 3 or so exits, that we would need to show proof that we had a ticket to get back in.

Hi What a joy to follow your visit to my native country Denmark! I could tell a lot of add-on’s to your Danish-experience, but one I must immediately share is about Restaut Vita. You had the Duck. For mor than 100 years Vita has been a 24h always open Restaurant. In my days as a younger man, Vita was the go-to end of a long drinking night out. You know, ending with a good meal made the hangovers much easier to handle. Back then, and still today, if you go order whatever after midnight (00:00) you will always get duck. Orde a steak - you will get duck. Order fish - you’ll get duck. Has been so for a very long time. The Vita Duck serving is famous. And it’s really good! The play you were watching is called a Pantomine. The Pantomine in Tivoli is 150 years old, and play the tale of Harlekin and Columbine. It's the oldest building in Tivoli Gardens.

Tivoli is the 3rd oldest amusement park in the world. Dyrehavesbakken (The Animal Park’s Hill) is the oldest, and its just north of Copenhagen. Walt Disney was inspired by tivoli when he made Disneyland. Also, the theater show you saw is called a pantomime theater. Its about Harlekin and Colombines struggles to be together. Her father, Kassander, and his servant Pjerrot is desperately trying to keep them apart. Its been around since 1910'ish i think. There are more than 15 different shows/stories with them.

The LEGO Company itself, has stated that what you call there bricks, is Country (regional) specific. Some say "LEGO´s" and some just say "LEGO" (most of Europe). Whether there is an "s" behind it or not..., LEGO doesn't care, both work for them 👍

The Pantomime Theater is an old Italian Art which near only exist in Denmark still, and many actors are Ballet Dancers from The Royal Theater!!! The statue in Amalienborg is King, Frederik 5th and it became absurdly expensive when being made by a French Artist, who was asked to come to Denmark to make it: J.F.J. Saly. But it is still considered one of the finest statues of that kind ever made! It was intended as a gift for the King from a Trade Company, but they may surely have regretted donating it!!! Finn. Tivoli has the oldest still running wooden roller coaster. Makes sense, since two of the oldest parks like that in the world is in Copenhagen. And the first Disney park was build upon that design. The statue is called Rytterstatuen. And is considered one of the worlds best ( In that design ) Its over 240 years old. And its of King Frederik 5.

Hmm...I remember pretty clearly saying and hearing "Vi leger med LEGO" as well as "Vi bygger med LEGO klodser" when I was a kid, so I think both your versions seem wrong to me. 😄 So my versions in English would be "We play with Lego" and "We build with Lego bricks" - the 'bricks' part being switched compared to your versions. I'm sure this could depend on where you grew up in Denmark or even just the groups you hung out with.

To anyone reading this. If you plan on visiting Tivoli, do yourself a favor and stay as long as possible in the park. When it gets night time, the lights go on and Tivoli becomes a magical place. Enjoy the lake and the buildings with lights. And the outdoor rides is a different experience in the dark. Also check if there is a light show or fireworks on the day of your visit. The park normally close around midnight, so stay late. Also try to read Tivoli backwards 😊❤

It´s not "Ti-voli" but "Tivo-li"..you emphasized the "vo" way too much but the emphasis is on the last syllabel "li", so at first I didn´t understand it. It´s an Italian expression named after the Italian town "Tivoli" where once the ancient Roman Emperor Hadrian built a huge complex with gardens and theatres for spending his leisure time ..therefore the name "Tivoli" became then a synonym for such areas offering entertainment/leisure time activities

Hmm....A Toy Llama sure, but I think if she had wanted to bring a dead Llama, that would also have kept her from being able to enter Tivoli.😄 The agreed upon meeting spot was the main entrance to Tivoli, so they didn't have entrance to Tivoli before getting there, hence they had to walk around instead of through and yeah, they took the longer way around.😄

As far as I remember they did mention (not in this video) that they came out of the Central Station and then simply went right instead of left, thus making the walk around the Tivoli Gardens to the main entrance, *the agreed upon meeting point*, about 4 times longer.😄 I have never tried it so I can't be sure but I guess if a person have a stamp from having been in the Tivoli Gardens earlier the same day, then they might be able to enter again later in the day, via the Tivoli Food Hall, the restaurant Wagamama or Anarkist Bar, that serve both Tivoli guests and outside customers.

@@stofamaan Yeah, in this video she mentions being on the opposite side of the park, and I could be wrong but I think that is after they have walked away from the Central Station and the wrong way around to where they met Drit. I am fairly certain that they came out from the Central Station from what I remember being told, either back then at Tivoli and/or Heidi mentioning it on Twitch.

Lego is the name of the company, it used to be a toy company, where the name was made by combing the words for "play well" in danish "leg godt" into LEGO. The Lego company themself also said them self, that the name of the product is Lego Bricks, and that calling it Legos is not correct.

Lego isnt actually an object, its a brand of toy bricks, so pluralising it doesnt make sense like if youre going to get furniture at IKEA, you dont say "lets get some IKEAS"

Well... technically... I think your (american) LEGO "comes" from .... America :D Virginia and Mexico somewhere. Those are the LEGO factories in America. in Europe, LEGO is manufactured in Hungary, and Czech Republic I think also. (It says on the box lol). And then China. The inhouse (Denmark, we have moulding process and a small production, testing, design/research, packaging, and shipping. But we are not the biggest manufacturer. We outsourced that. LEGO would be even more expensive if it were all produced in Denmark lol. Would be so expensive that LEGO would be something only Norwegians and ppl from Dubai would buy. If you see the factory in Billund (Denmark) you would see its.... big... but not THAT big :D There is not a snowballs chance in hell, that Billund could even jsut keep up with world orders, let alone be on top of it, if they had to manufacture all the pieces themselves. So its not always "Danish quality" rly (only sometimes).. Its whatever country they was produced in. But we make sure there arent any missing pieces in the final boxes, and makes prints and whatnot :D But quality-CONTROL is danish.
