I came to The Hague, Netherlands to spend time with my family and explore the city. The history of this beautiful place is complex and I may have found my second love; Dutch apple cake. We will visit must-see locations in The Hague including parliament, the royal palace, a museum, the Peace Palace and a United Nations courtroom! Want more from my Dutch adventure? Don’t worry, there’s plenty more coming up in the next episode!

I've lived in The Hague for 3 years now and it's awesome to see someone making a video like this about the city. Usually people make only traveling video's on Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The Hague is a very chill place to visit as well though and i think you're video really showcases this well!

I can recommend the guided tour at the Peace Palace. Also recommendable: Panorama Mesdag, one of the oldest still existing panorama's in the world; A canaltour with the Ooievaart of with a kayak (kanoverhuurdenhaag); A lunch or dinner at the Penthouse, a bar/restau at the 40th floor with a great view over the area.

The Hague is also a nice springboard to trips to Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam. It has world class museums (may I recommend for instance the Louwman Museum, about personal transport ? ) and 2 amusement parks close by (Drievliet and Duinrell).

on the binnenhof there is the ridderzaal you have taken some shots of. but if you go to the other side of the ridderzaal there is a little basement that is a tiny museum with a bunch of illustrations of the history of the binnenhof and you can also get a tour of the complex from there... providing they're not renovating it as is the case at the moment. across the street from the binnenhof there is the Gevangenpoort (prisoners gate) which shows you some history of law & punishment. you can see old cells and vompare them to the rooms rich people would stay in and there are also a bunch of eexamples of the types of equipment that was used to interogate or punish people. it gives you a great perspective about the amount of progress there has been and how little a human life was worth not so very long ago.

While prepping for this episode I found some interesting articles describing evidence of prehistoric settlements dating back to around 3500 BC in the area of The Hague. You’re also right… they likely lived on dunes and island like masses a bit further back. Maybe The Hague as we know it was their fishing grounds? Lol
@hanswhiteeagletubben261
@hanswhiteeagletubben261 Жыл бұрын
@@ACanadianAbroadMichelle there were a few habital dunes that wasn't submurged. People could only live at those few dry places (dunes above water) out there (in the neolithicum). Only a few tribes like the funnel beaker culture (trechterbeker cultuur, also known as megalith builders (hunebedden)), whom lived here as here as well in the east and north-east in the Netherlands. But borders didn't exist in those days. So they wandered around.
