First Time in UBUD BALI: Tegallalang Rice Terrace, Temples, Monkey Forest 🇮🇩 Indonesia Travel Vlog

In this Indonesia Travel Vlog we FINALLY MADE IT TO BALI! 🎉🎉While Carles had been to Bali before, it was my first time ever visiting Bali! We decided to start our week in Bali in Ubud. We had a hotel right next to the Ubud Palace so when we left we tried to stop by the palace on the way to breakfast....unfortunately it was closed! We went next door to the Saraswati Temple and it was perfect! We arrived early enough that there was no one else there! We could walk around the temple and take pictures just as everyone else was arriving. Then it was time for our first brunch in Bali! We headed to the Lazy Cats Cafe. They had yogurt granola bowls and avocado toast - two of our favorites! It was definitely our favorite cafe in Ubud! After breakfast we needed to rent a motorbike to get around the rest of Ubud, Bali. We found a place on the street renting bikes.....and we only made it 30 seconds up the road when the mirror fell off the bike! We were able to turn around and give them the mirror before we continued on our trip without any more issues. Our first stop was the famous Tegallalang Rice Terraces (Ceking Rice Terrace). We were surprised that it wasn't super busy at 10am!! We were able to walk around the rice terraces and see all the famous Bali picture spots without tons of people! I wasn't aware that all the swings had different prices. The first Bali swing quoted us 250,000 Rp...then later we found one that dropped the price to 100,000 Rp! It was actually pretty fun flying over the rice terraces AND they have dresses there for you to wear!
After the rice terraces we drove to the Candi Tebing Gunung Kawi and we concluded that it's the best temple in Bali! We actually bought sarongs there when we parked our bike, however you can rent them for free at the temple entrance. Candi Tebing Gunung Kawi is such a cool temple because it's all carved directly into the rocks! We'd never seen a temple like it before! Unfortunately you go down about 300 stairs to get to the temple so it is a workout when you leave! After there we went to the famous Holy Water Temple (Tirta Empul). It was SO BUSY! At this temple you can change into a special green dress to wear into the water. There were lines of people waiting to bathe in the holy water. While the bathing ritual seems like an amazing experience, I felt that it loses its meaning when there are SO many foreigners waiting to do it.. We decided not to this time, however if we return to Bali and the Holy Water Temple isn't as busy we would love to participate!
When we left Tirta Empul we were very hungry. Luckily there was a really cute vegan restaurant right at the entrance to the temple. We went there and had some of the best Indonesian food ever!!! We tried tahu isi for the first time and also had vegan nasi goreng and mie goreng. Everything we had here was AMAZING! Our last stop of the day was the Monkey Forest. It's the most famous place in Bali to see monkeys and take the 'Monkey Selfie' picture. We were surprised that EVERYONE was taking monkey selfies! We were also amazed by how many baby monkeys we saw! And we were lucky enough to see a Balinese performance of the story of Lubdhaka. It was such an amazing first day in Bali!
