I discovered BTS in 2020, and this song is the one that made me BTS ARMY. I'm 57 years old. I was a fan of classic rock in the 80's, and I like some R&B, Michael Jackson, etc. So I didn't grow up with BTS, and I've met a lot of ARMY's that have only been fans for a couple years, and they are ages mid 30's to 70's.I would say K-ARMY are the ones that have been with them since pre-debut, but they also had an international following, even before they debuted. This song I think is much deeper and more artistic than MIC Drop. Mic Drop was a song to the haters, and a hype song, and I love that one too, but Black Swan is deep and tells a story. RM was the main songwriter on this one, and the song is about the fear of losing your passion for your art. The quote by a famous dancer, Martha Graham, "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful". He was inspired by that, and the actual movie, Black Swan. Also, the song covers Carl Jung's work that talks about the theory of Individuation, and how until you accept your shadows as a part of yourself (Shadow + EGO + Persona = Individuation), you can't truly experience your full self. They played with shadows in this music video to represent that. Their album map of the soul: 7 talks about each aspect. It's a famous theatre they filmed the MV. The song is about the fear of losing their passion for their art. There art of Song Writing, Composing, Producing, Rapping, Singing, Dancing going up on stage. The Shadow represents that fear and at the end you saw it fall away to nothing showing they have conquered the fear of losing their passion for their art. But the Shadow is always there as it's a psychological theory of where we hid our dark thoughts, fears etc.

It would be nice to have both solo work and group songs in one folder for us to enjoy. Although they are doing solo activities, they are still BTS, so there no need to separate folders.

This is one of my favs. You definitely have to check out Yoongi (AKA suga, Agust D) that's the one from the beginning in this MV. His latest Solo album goes under the name of D-Day. He is one of the 3 Rappers, the 2e member who came in the group, he was an underground rapper, he didn't wanted to dance and they said he not have to..That was a lie 😂 they just wanted him because of his amazing rap skills. He has also the name as genius, he wright's and produces his own songs. He did a collab with Halsey, juice world etc. he comes from a poor background, his parents did not support him in his early years as an idol and as a rapper, eventually they accepted it, the first concert they attended of BTS and after seeing his parents in the audience he knelt down and wept. he suffered the most, both mentally and physically. you should really listen (in order) to his Trilogy 1) daechwita, 2) Haegeum and 3) Amygdala. Suga and his "tongue technologie" is no joke...thanks for the dive into BTS. As group song i recommend Blood, sweat and tears, Idol, Fire, DNA. From the vocal line i recommend, zero ò clock, butterfly, the truth untold. And from the rapline the cyphers 1 to 4. Thank you! 😂💜💜

Thanks for this reaction.:) I'd like to recommend ON kinetic manifesto film after Black Swan. Black Swan is a song that expresses their fear of losing their passion for music. And ON is their determination to overcome that fear and move on to the future. :) BTS member Jin said in his acceptance speech at the 2018 MAMA that BTS suddenly became famous worldwide and had a hard time for a year due to great pressure and fear. They even thought about disbanding. However, after a year of talking and contemplating with the members, they decided to stay in the industry only for the fans and members, and move forward. The albums that have been released since then are Map of the Soul series. Those albums are filled with songs that reconsider their inner self, the relationship between the seven members, and the relationship between them and fans. Black Swan, ON, Boy with Luv, and We are Bulletproof : the Eternal are one of those songs. Boy with Luv contains a message that they will fly toward fans, not the sun, with wings attached by ARMY. After listening to Black Swan, you can better understand how they feel by reading ON's lyrics. :) And at the concert in Busan in 2022, SUGA told ARMY to grow old together because they will make music for another 20 or 30 years.😭 The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative. It will also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :) Oh, there're many good Black Swan live performances. What made me become an Army was this exact song coupled with another song from them called ON (which you should definitely check out). if you decide to watch ON, considering you like choreography, I would recommend the ON KINETIC MANIFESTO or one of its live performances and not the MV (which is very beautiful but they don't dance much there) ... Also, talking about performances, I think it would be really amazing if you reacted to their songs from the MV (just as you're doing) but then watch one of their live performances from the same song (for me, their live performances are really what captures us to BTS). Just a suggestion.

Hi I am back. Good reaction, ty. Yes, pls make a BTS playlist. That would be great. Just add the BTS members solo songs to the same playlist BTS. This one has beautiful deep meaning of their lyrics. As you notice like lines " It would be my first death. That's what I'm afraid of ." It has that emotional theme of an artist fear for losing their passion for what they do. With this song BTS dives deep into their inner selves as artists and faces the shadows they had once hidden. The song lends voice to their fears that one day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the ‘Black Swan’ within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have. It is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself. It's also inspired from Martha Graham, who said “A dancer dies twice once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful.” Now with the band on a break from group work and focusing more on solo projects (solo albums). Truth is the bts music western audiences often hear are the radio friendly, appeals to young people songs. There best work are their b sides or deep cuts that for whatever reason no one really recommends, or reactors don’t know about. But that is essentially the music industry’s problem, they wanna appeal to masses so much they ignore the artists best work, and promote the commercial sounding ones. Which I also understand, cuz the artist gotta make their money somehow right? That’s not just bts, many artists do that. Takes lot of guts to put out the music you’re passionate about. Not to say bts doesn’t have any guts, their early music especially aimed at society and the government shortcomings. Their recent stuff is still deep just a little friendlier

I got into BTS in 2020 and this is my favorite song by a clear mile. Lyrically it hits me on a very personal level and that beat though. I suspect you will like more b-sides than title tracks. If copyright allows it, you should react to the Jimmy Fallon performances of Black Swan and Home🖤💜👍🏽

It makes sense to start by watching BTS main single releases (A sides) with videos, however most of my favourite tracks are their other album tracks (B sides). I can't stress how amazing they are. If you love this R&B type vibe then check out HOME, PARADISE and LOVE MAZE. All these tracks also have great lyrics and meaning. There are no videos so check out a lyric video (Dial 6137 is probably the most accurate lyric channel) I would say do live performance reactions last. BTS are best live and their mic is ALWAYS on, but you take pot luck with the quality and captions.💜

What is going on is he was brought up and lived with BTS from 13 years old for 8 years from just before his 14th birthday. BTS accept no genre classifications they do it all. Thats what JK grew up doing, he even is a good rapper. He is the main vocalist of BTS all star vocal line and can stand in for any member. He says he is the manifestation of his 6 older BTS brothers. They have supported and nurtured all his various interests. As result he is great at everything. Track, archery, boxing, climbing Taekwondo, video editing, they let him produce one of their music videos, he takes drum lessons and guitar. He is a great artist ( takes after his family in that way, his brother is really good). He is a full member of The Korean Copywriters Association. He has written some beautiful songs in the BTS albums. Hes a great cook and chose to become a cook in the army. Jungkook is an example of what a talented individual can become if he is protected and nurtured by a group of great people in a supportive environment.

As for the playlist, yes I think it would be an amazing idea to make a playlist for BTS (added the members solo music to it as well) It would be really helpful to us in finding those reactions. I'd like to recommend you checking out "ON" by BTS I'll post the link here for you to make it easier.
