I was so thrilled by Rio's part on this one because I feel a lot of people downplay him solely because Eric is so charismatic that he makes Busta Rhymes seem depressed (lol) and Ras is a doggone flow MAGICIAN. But Rio KILLED this one and made new believers out of the doubters. Rio adds the gritty realness and gives them more international appeal with his flawless bilingual delivery. That's a bit why I hate comparing individuals in a collective because each adds something unique that the others lack that makes him necessary to the group's mystique. But I'll play along! Unpopular opinion, but just because I got so hyped at how Rio was delivering, I'm giving him my number 1 on the strength of the come up. Don't get me twisted - EVERYONE brought their A game! I came into the freestyle as an Eric stan and he did not disappoint going STUPID with that turntable part! But Ras with twenty-two-hundred flows was mesmerizing to take in! My favorite verse of the freestyle came from Taj: "I'd rather be utilized over idolized". That truth hits hard AND deep. Whew! Phenomenal job, guys. Ya'll did that. Welcome back.

That's what 6 months do. I know the ranking thing is Hip Hop Cypher ish and most people think Eric is always the stand out but that's what makes the crew so good they motivate each other. RAS & Rio had my personal favorite verses based on how it made me feel. Eric doing the verses as a DJ obviously sets a bar high cause who else does that?! 😮
