Thank you guys so much for the overwhelming response to this video in such a short time!. We have had lots of requests to listen to HATE (Live Version ) this morning. So... Tonight.. Thats EXACTLY what we will be doing. We are very excited to listen to it since everyone says that it blows the Studio Recordings away. That is Awesome!.. I have spent a lot of time in Japan and really want to live there. I love the culture and the people.. I have been fortunate to teach small children English as part of a program since I can speak Japanese ( to an extent ,,lol) .. Cannot wait to see the live video tonight.. I'm sure I will catch this band live either in Japan or in the U.S. someday. I love the Music and the whole Maid Concept.. You have now just discovered THE BEST "new" rock band in decades. Band-Maid has been together for over a decade. They have travelled the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and Asia. A little about myself. I'm 75 years old and have heard many iconic (and not so iconic) rock bands in my life including Cream, The Doors, The Byrds, Led Zeppelin, The Allmen Brothers Band, and many others. I even saw Elvis live. These five amazingly gifted young Japanese females have restored my faith that rock and roll is not dead (it's just relocated to Japana). My suggestion for the next Band-Maid song for you to react to is "Hate?", the official live video, from their 10th Anniversary Tour finale in Yokohama last November. It really shows how far this band has come in those years.

Amen brother, I'll be 77 in July and Band Maid, and other female Japanese and Korean bands are keeping the flame of true rock alive. I started by seeing Joey Dee and The Starlighter's in a little social club in Hoboken, New Jersey all those decades ago. These ladies, as well as groups like SCANDAL, Lovebites, Aldious, Girlfriend, Trident, Rolling Quartz, Bridear and about a dozen more have done a great service.

Hello guys.....this band single handedly rejuvenated my love for music again !!!!!! I seen all the "greats" in the past 40 years and let me tell you this the best current rock band on the planet !!!! Their writing is incredible and the musicianship is second to none. I got the opportunity to see them live last year and they blew the roof off the House of Blues in LA to a sold out house. Just wait till you see the LIVE performances !!!!

Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies exude pure joy and positive energy and are best experienced live. Arguably the best live rock band on the planet, their stage presence is at a level most other bands only dream of only achieving. Organically formed back in 2013, each of the 5 members have their own unique and distinctive personality and will pull on your heart string. Trying to pick a favorite member is about as easy as picking a favorite child. And if you're like most people who go down the Band-Maid "pigeon" hole, you'll conclude that your favorite song is the last one you've heard. Hope to see more B-M reactions going forward. Cheers!

To loosely quote another Maidiac: 🎸 Bass solos by Misa are more likely to happen than not. 🥃 🎸 Guitar solos by Kanami are short and crisp 🥁 Akane on drums is 'a beast' 🦍🍌 🕊 Don't underestimate Miku Kobato: She is the founder of the band, bundle of energy, Maid Cafe magician 🪄, is invaluable as a second vocalist and also has a small solo project of her own (Cluppo) 🎙And there is Saiki: She was the Ice Queen but the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed 🤣 🎶 More hooks, riffs and motifs in a song than most bands have on a full album. 💃Their LIVE videos are mostly superior to the official studio MVs, but the MVs are also excellent! 🎵 Many songs have catchy phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in Japanese with some English here and there. Most songs are full of joy as well. 🥳 They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). I'm 52 and have been to a lot of concerts in my life in a few different countries. I've only seen these ladies once but it was the most fun concert I've ever been to.

Hi Tequila and Jimmy! Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

Sounds like a great back story.. I have spent ALOT of time in Japan.. I studied Japanese for many years and have even taught English to young Japanese kids as part of a program. I cannot wait to go back to Japan as I haven't been back since the Pandemic.. I was actually in Japan when Covid started. I'm very familiar w/ Maid Cafe's and the girls handing out flyers outside around Akihabara. We will definitely be listening to a lot more of this band since we hear that they shift genres which makes it even more interesting and enjoyable. Thanks Again!

Hi from France: I've been following this band for 4 or 5 years now. Today I am an old man almost born on the same day as rock & roll 😂. I won't say that it's the best rock band of all time (all styles combined), but it's certainly a very great band. Among the best and worth paying attention to. I quickly got over the clothing gimmick. From the first bars I heard, I fell into their trap and I never stopped loving and never being disappointed by these 5 magnificent musicians... Their music is excellent, very varied and the characters are very endearing. It is visible that their mutual friendship which has lasted for more than 10 years is part of their DNA and perhaps is the secret of their success. It's a real pleasure to see their infectious joy when they play their music, to see the sincere attention they pay to their audience (they even dedicated a song to their fans: "Endless Story" which the crowd sang along to choir at each of their concerts). Yes, Band Maid is a great band and if there is one, this is it... Enjoy Maidiacs!

Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).

They are a life changing band, seamlessly weaving catchy melodies with technical prowess (especially later songs) - and they are genre defying as well. You have just heard the best band ever. Hate? live from Yokohama arena should be your next one. While their recordings are top notch, they are 100% a live band must see. I am old enough to have seen Pink Floyd live in the 80s and now can't wait for these ladies to come back to the States. This is not the only band coming out of Japan either. 90% of my current Spotify playlist are Japanese bands.

Great reaction !!!! They are certainly something to see. I would suggest hitting the official live videos for most of their songs to get a true look at their musicianship, which is stellar, and their fan reaction and crowd control. I think if you react to the live official video of "Onset" and the music video for "From Now On" you will really get a true idea of their talent. Both of them are instrumentals and are as different as night and day. You will not be disappointed. I've seen them three times here in the US and loved every minute. They have about 130 songs in their catalogue and there isn't a stiff among them. Enjoy the ride.

And a thing about the maid outfits, Jimmy & Gringa: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

Great reaction. Check them out live as they usually are better and most powerfull live than in video. Any song... yes, any song (lol) and be prepared for impact. You have no idea what's in front of you. In my opinion, top ten band in rock history and rising in my ranking... ( A rather cruel ranking according my own analysis, quite forensic, and it took me years to accept them, little by little, at the top while they are still advancing step by step.) They are surely the band of this century. Thanks. ( and the most crazy thing is that they do everything, in and for the song, from A to Z )

New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence. I haven't even begun to say all I could. Come and see for yourself!

Everyone will say you should have gone live but it's handy to see them as the product that the world sees and then see them as a band. This song from the Yokohama arena concert is great but even better is the song Hate. You mentioned BABYMETAL but a real all girl Japanese band called NEMOPHILA is heavy and very good. Check out their song Rise or AMA-TE-RAS. Their song Zen is very screamy if you like that. You must experience NEMOPHILA but keep going with BAND-MAID they have well over 100 songs. 🇦🇺
