Күн бұрын

We finally got the New Jeep & Raptor on Dirt for the first time and we picked to head out to Johnson Valley with our buddy Ken (a.k.a. Mojave Raptor on Instagram).
First time offroad for me in the Raptor since the accident so I was nervous and did not want to kill the new truck.
Also, was the first time offroad driving for the wife so she was very nervous. Lucky we had Ken come out and help calm us down a bit and Ethan was my wife's co pilot to help put some experience in the truck.
Overall we had a blast checking out the Volcano & Petroglyphs. We learned a few things about the truck and the Jeep and will be planning more offroad trips in the future.

Another great video KID!.. Luv the color of the Jeep!... I looked at a couple LeadFoot Raptors but went with silver cuz it was CPO & only had 14,200 miles on it!

Would you be able to explain how to get to the crater from johnson valley? This run looks so fun!

Join me on a run man. I don’t share maps. Only those that come out will get them. Follow my personal account on Instagram for run announcements. None planned as I deal with some truck issues, but hopefully soon.

....."f*cking turn signals!"......as I'm laughing....soo funny listening to your wife and son!.....I really think Deavers are in your future. Ford missed the mark on this: Just bought a brand new Polaris RZR Turbo XP S4 with the live valve shocks and it has a manual switch on the dash allowing me to run in Comfort, Sport or Firm anytime on the fly and the systems WORKS!....Ford you should have done the same in the Raptor. Glad you were able to get that first ride under your belt...and looking foreward to more feedback as you "fix" the rear end.

🤣🤣 I also drive a BMW, maybe that’s why I don’t use turn signals. I think Ford built it into the drive moves. Suspension stiffens and loosens based on the drive mode. Problem is that Ford Forgot to include a good 2wd offroad mode. Baja is too aggressive for some, and not always appropriate. I used to use Sport mode, but Sport mode stiffens the suspension way too tight for regular off-roading. But there is so much potential in the Live Valve shocks. But I’m still concerned about damaging sensors or sensor lines

I did know about the shock settings changing with drive modes, but it would be nice if the driver had more direct choices.....and I agree from what I've seen some protection of cables would be an excellent idea...
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 5 жыл бұрын
Titantramp4u yeah, one side on the rear a cable is fully exposed. One muddy day or the right rock will destroy it. But my bigger concern is the UCA sensors out front. They rely on a plastic rod to read the position of the arm. That’s going to brake easy

After going from a 2017 to a 2019 I agree with you on the back end being too loose.Others on the forums have had the same complaint and recommend lowering the rear tire pressure to 34 which seems to help.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 5 жыл бұрын
You should not have to adjust your tire pressure to get a smooth ride. I put about 200 lbs in the back and that seems to have calmed down the back end a lot. Specially offroad. It's a combination of problems that's causing the back end to go all over the place, weight and balance being the biggest factor. So rather than lowering PSI, counterbalancing with gear is what's working best for me offroad. Hope to have an update on that soon.

Keep It Dirty Off-Road 200lbs 🤔 I think I’ll just haul my girlfriend back there 🤣
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad

@@majestic1260 😂😂 200 lbs makes a difference. that Aluminum bed is light and if you plan to offroad, you need the weight back there anyways to balance the truck and avoid lawn darting.

Your wife and son need a tv show they are hilarious. I also think it’s really cool hearing her general joy in off-roading. How can we join you on some of these runs are you on the fb roc group or something? I don’t don’t have an Instagram or Twitter or anything. If it’s cool to join on your runs.

SERGIO ACEVEDO I do run announcement on IG on my personal account. Just setup and account there to get notified. Trying to do a run this weekend starting in Baker Ca and heading to Vegas with a couple of friends from Vegas if you down to join. Just make sure you get a VHF radio. They are a must for Raptor runs. Check out my amazon page for a few options and just did an install video for the Raptor

Keep It Dirty Off-Road thanks! Sorry I missed this comment I just created an account and will add you as soon as I figure out how lol. I do already have a 50watt Motorola vhf radio Installed but I bought it used on eBay and the seller programmed it for me with weatherman and raptor off-road community Channels but I have no idea now to program any other channels to be honest lol. I do also have handheld vhf as a back up too
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 жыл бұрын
@@sergioacevedo2874 the radio should have the option to enter frequencies manually and that's all you need. it's not too difficult to use. But to program frequencies some radios require a programming cable so it's easier just to enter them manually. If you come on a run, Just let me know and I can help you figure it out.

Also thanks to your recommendations I ordered from off-road alliance geisers for front and deavers +3hd and rpg bump stops with 2.5 fox bumps for the rear (I carry a lot of weight lol). Thank you tax refund lmao. I saw on the description it said the kit came with axel strike pad but I don’t see those plates from your install video wonder if I have to order the extra plate too (I got the stage 2). These deavers feel heavy af I’m worried about their weight and if this is going to hurt speed/jumps off-road and comfort on road but one way to find out lol.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 5 жыл бұрын
Stage 2 kit does not have strike plates, they have to be ordered separately. As for the springs they are a huge improvement. Stiffer on the road yeah, but they shine offroad. Little stuff may feel a little stiffer but they smooth out the big stuff like jumps and allows you to run faster.

What drive modes are you using? With the live valve shocks where they are affected by drive mode I think it would be interesting to know if different modes leave you with different impressions
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 5 жыл бұрын
Pat drive modes do change the dynamics of the shocks. For example? My default mode on the 17 for off-roading was sport with traction off. But with Live Valve sport is too stiff for off-road use. So I find myself either in the standard mode or using Baja 2wd to get a smoother ride

Was this before you added the bump stops in the rear?
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 5 жыл бұрын
Truck was completely stock here. Bed was empty, and no mods anywhere. I did one more trip before putting on the bump stops and added some weight in the back. Changed the whole dynamic of the truck. Hope to have the video out soon. Really far behind on video editing right now.

Dirtnation Offroad it was a combination of AC too much road noise, and poorly placed mic. Need to start getting better gear.

DUDE!! your in the Mecca of off-roading living in So Cal. Tons of options to offroad but they are all in the desert. Only Local trail in OC is the Canyon up to Santiago peak. that's it. Everything else is in the mountain, high desert, or Mexico. Hope to start scheduling runs again soon. Check out my top 3 gear video for group runs to see what you need to run with other Raptor and watch out on my IG feed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKXOdJhjmNKgidE
