CVs are all bare metal and the exterior surface rust is normal and should not be too bad. But yes if the salt gets into that inner joint, it could be a nighmare. Just try and keep that area clean. @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad it was a comment to your video, nothing personal my man. I've driven on every mud tire out there. I don't trailer to the trail myself but if noise was a concern I wouldn't be driving a truck, let alone on mud tires.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 2 күн бұрын
See for these kind of trucks, those that go fast offroad, a mud tire just sucks. Fast off-roading is better suited with AT or Hybrid tread tires. You look at race tires for TTs and all that they are closer to a hybrid tread as well. It’s what works best for this kind of off-roading and those tires are very quiet. This is my first mud tire on this truck and it sucked. Grip was inconsistent and they sucked so bad in the sand. Mud tires are better suited for the rocks. Not of a prerunner.

No, that’s just the build and does not include the truck. Typically a fully built prerunner build with cage, linked back half and clamshell front is $250k. So these are expensive builds regardless. I think the recon builds are around the $150k range.

You may be thinking of the factory five truck. And the answer is no. A proper race designed tube chassis would be far more expensive to develop and build. @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 3 күн бұрын
Sounds like you’re way overdue for some maintenance. The noises usually come from the joints and the leaf packs. If your off-roading it on the regular your overdue for shock rebuilds and replace every bushing and ball joint on the truck. Shock rebuild and the bushings on the shocks would be first item. Then look at replacing the upper arms (can’t just replace the joints unfortunately, the lower arm bushings and lower ball joint. Out back look at replacing the bushings on the springs IF they are cracked. Unfortunately the squeaking leaf packs will never go away.

Regardless of the company, I’m personally not a fan of any cantilever kits. Any thoughts on the BFGoodrich KO3s tbat are about to drop in 35s? Interesting that the Ranger Raptor came spec'd with the K03s (albeit in a smaller size), but not the EcoBoost Raptor F-150 and not the R....that said, I did see a KZbin video earlier today where a guy compared KO3s that came spec'd as original equipment on some vehicles ~1-2 years ago and the ones that are now being released...it seems BFG did a bunch of updates to the tread pattern and siping on the K03. Also, if load range C is too light for the V6 F-150 Raptor, any thoughts on why Ford kept them on the heavier V8 R? Thx and appreciate the content!

I had a discussion with a BFG rep at the mint 400 last year on them. They had them side by side and yeah. I was not impressed. As he put it, it’s a more street focused ride than the KO2 was. They tried to address the main issue with the KO2 and they wanted them quieter and better wet performance. The KO2 is awful in the rain. So they improved on road performance. Not offroad performance. Its the same compound so they are not going to last and we’ve already seen issues on social with shops having similar issues as the KO2 with balancing the tires and vibrations on the road.
