Started off the week in our Scania moving our Kubota and Takeuchi. I then got a tour of Scania Eurocentral in Scotland. I was super impressed by the place. I picked up our new bumper and grill for our Scania. I then headed down to Bristol for Molsons Event. It’s always an amazing event, I got to have a go on 2 electric Hyundais, and my first ever time in a Dozer and alot more. Ended the week working with dad trying to find water pipes!😁

Reminds me of building the footbridge for Hailes Castle. The access on the south side was a footpath - so I sat a couple of blokes with chainsaws on the bonnet of an airmobile landrover, Repeated with a four-tonner. Finished with four on a ten-tonner. Thank you Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Interesting video, especially with the battery powered excavators. Thank you. Thermal runaway is, however, a significant issue with lithium battery packs, in electric and hybrid vehicles. I have seen the KZbin video where a city bus catches on fire. I have repeatedly driven past the spot at our local airport-Wellington, NZ- where a Prius taxi collided with a concrete pillar, with resultant thermal runaway; and one vehicle has already burnt out on the Auckland Harbour Bridge, due to thermal runaway. The Boeing 787, if I recall correctly, had significant safety issues with lithium batteries and we need to see a rigorous safety certification procedure in place, for heavy machinery powered by lithium battery packs. I very much doubt that such machines are suitable for work in forestry OR any high fire risk areas, at this time. Amy, if you can get a manufacturer to talk to you about the safety design and the testing protocols involved with lithium battery powered excavators; that might alleviate obvious safety concerns, in regard to this innovative kit.

They didn’t thankfully, Brandfixx is so thick so would take some battering to damage it. Probably not quite yet as where we are is in the middle of no where near no mains. We hardly get phone signal 🤣 would justify carrying battery’s out to the machine etc. But won’t rule it out forever thank you for watching 😁
@geraldcorrigan5681
@geraldcorrigan5681 Жыл бұрын
When you have to replace the batteries then you would find out how good the technology is, a conservative estimate probably take around £50,000 or more to replace them not even thinking how much it would cost to charge the batteries every night.

I get the idea of electric diggers but can’t see them being anymore environmentally friendly if you’ve got to stick it on the back of a truck and take back to the yard every night to a charge point. Can see a few being charged from a diesel generator on site 🤔 I think dipper has been watching you and Sandy load trailers and was trying to see you on straight 😉 the clever pup Serious question now, how safe from electrocution in the cab if you did put the bucket through a mains electric cable?

As nice as the idea of an electric digger is, if you’re on site for a few days, how do they think you can recharge the machine over night. It wouldn’t be practical to take it home every day after work. I’ve got an electric car which I love, so I like the idea, but unless I’m missing something, not practical for a working machine.

Yes I did see that the big one had an exchangeable battery pack, but I wonder what the running cost would be if you needed them exchanging every day. As I said in my first comment, I’m not anti electric technology, I run an electric car and wouldn’t go back to an ice car, but it’s got a long way to go before it is a viable proposition for most companies

If you’re thinking of starting up, hiring isn’t a bad idea till you know you have enough work etc to pay for a machine. Second hand machine with low hours is always a bonus. Size wise it depends what you’re going to be doing but a 8 tonne is a very good size for managing big and smaller stuff. 😁

I was thinking about 6-8 ton machine for gardening work or evening drainage work. That's great idea about the hiring, if I the hiring company to do weekly rate might be abit cheaper. What would your go to machine if gona buy 6-8 ton machine. Really those kobutas u have, put there very pricey not alot people have them here yet Ireland. More hitachi jcb yamhar kobelo. Thanks for your advice feel like big jump to take starting out, it's so awarding I think when you look back at your work with pride.
