FIRST TIME PLAYING CAPCOM VS SNK (Capcom V.S SNK - Arcade Playthrough)

What's up dudes! So with the new Capcom Collection coming out in 2025, I decided to play the first CVS game. I've never played this game before and I thought it would be cool showing my first impressions as well as learning how the game works. I hope you enjoy! :D

I was there in the 90s buying all the Capcom, SNK and Arcsystems games- but unfortunately most gamers let 2D, SF series, SNK and arcades die out.

Never played the first cpacom vs snk . Love capcom vs snk2. Great video. The fighting system in those games are a blend of both fighting systems. You have the basic links\combos from the capcom games but the two grooves(super system) from classic capcom and snk games. Next game is gonna have more of this stuff.

Brings back memories....I played the hell out of this game at the college campus rec room. I like this game more than it's sequel, the hand drawn backgrounds beats the 3D rendered ones of CvS2, the sound is better too (the music and the contact hits) imo.

There are indeed many differences between Capcom and SNK grooves. The biggest one is, you have to charge in snk groove or have flashing health to do a L1 super or both charge and flashy health for what would be a L3 on Capcom groove. There’s a rather broken sequence on arcade that Iori can do with SNK groove and just keep you stunned long enough to full charge.

Sometimes I tell some ancient arcade stories, but about this game I had no memory at all! This game blew.my kind só hard I thinking actually destroyed a Lot of my braincells lol Keep it going!! I bet you are gonna love the second one! Is one of the best fighting games ever!

I little playing in childhood on PS1 and I thought "oh, I little remember of that game", so about groove and mechanics, actually in CVS2 there's a lot of them like a 6 and name of their grooves it's funny really, so in selecting groove they will show you about mechanics and about groove is, and in character selection you can pick pick up to 3 characters but you can decide to pick 1,2 or 3 characters and after that you can choose ratio sistem, it's like between 1 to 4, the highest number ratio you have, the less damage you will take from any attacks, so that was about CVS2, hope to see you in there, Moon👍❤️❤️💥💥

Dreamcast had some amazing ports from Capcom: CvS1 and 2, Marvel 1 and 2, etc. The PS1 version that I grew up with lacked the presentation due to hardware

It still amazes me how many dedicated fight fans never played this or SFIII games on Dreamcast when they 1st came out! There's an alternate timeline where 2D kept going.

This game has the best presentation in fighting game history in my opinion, even though CvS2 is a stronger game in the play department. CvS1 was kinda infamous for serious competitive player because the meta just became "pick four Ratio 1 characters" and thus ever single game lasted an eternity

CVS1 is based on a ratio system meaning that the cast is assigned from 1-4 1 being the weakest and 4 being the strongest. so you can have a team of 2 ratio characters or four raito 1 characters/ one ratio 3 and 1 ratio character. in cvs 2 they allowed you to pick any 3 characters and assign what ratio they can be IE the free ratio system.

I've only played the pair match mode of CVS1 on my PS1 cause it allowed me to choose every two characters that I wanted or else you'll always end up choosing the ratio 2 chars

Once you learn the mechanics of the Grooves, you'll find out which one suits you best. I personally find the SNK Groove has the most I can work with. When your health is low and blinking red you go into desperation mode, which is a staple in most SNK games that give you unlimited level 1 supers without needing the gauge to be charged. But IF the gauge is fully charged during desperation mode, it's a Max Level Super. The next game after this is Capcom vs SNK Pro, which adds Dan Hibiki and Joe Higashi. It's the COMPLETE form of the first game. That's the version in the collection. Which is awesome since we never really got a good port of that in English.

I'm glad this game is being vindicated by time. The Ratio System is rather flawed, but good LORD the 90s techno format of the character select screen and the animated stage intros all deserved the hype. Focusing on the casts of Street Fighter and King of Fighters + adapting SF's A-ISM vs KoF's Extra Mode are good baby steps. CvS1's foundations walked so that CvS2 could run.

Each character has an ex version with different moveset... You buy them with points you earn. I guess it'll be available from the start in the new collection.

Awesome video! Love this game. Next time try Pair Match Mode, which sets all ratios to 2. That way you can use any two characters. Also, turn on the classic soundtracks instead of the default OST. Hits especially well in the boss fights.

CVS1 is the first in the series developed by Capcom, although it's actually not the first in the series. That would be SNK vs Capcom Match of the Millennium for the Neo Geo Pocket Color, released a year before CVS1. For a handheld game with only 2 buttons, it plays really well and has a pretty unique roster. And there's versions of it on Switch and Steam, so give it a try if you have the chance :D

Try to play this without getting killed and taking to much damage if you raise the gps to 950 the one in the middle of the super bars before the last boss you’ll fight shin akuma instead

You know what we need? A console port of Fighting Layer, a rerelease of Astr Superstars and Power Instinct: Groove on Fight, a rerelease of Yuusha: Heaven's Gate, a rerelease of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, paired with Tech Romancer and the EX series, and Capcom should DROP Capcom Fighting Evolution from the new collection announcement and replace it with the cancelled Capcom Fighting All-Stars

I have never played this game. But the stages are beautiful! It's a shame that the stages in CVS2 were such big downgrade.
