@@OM19_MO79 I already explained this to you lol The "American copyright holders" DO NOT EXIST Do you understand the words that I am saying 🙏 Sandy Frank? He is 95 years old About over a decade ago, the global rights to Gatchaman aka Battle of the Planets, reverted BACK to Tatsunoko. Tatsunoko has GLOBAL distribution rights to Gatchaman and all things associated with it That was the only supposed issue when Tatsunoko vs Capcom first came out in Japan and was looking to b localized. By the time it was, Sandy Frank had lost the rights. You can find this online also from a Tatsunoko fan who actually had worked for Sandy Frank around that time. Other than that, I already told you: the American companies that held any rights to video OVA or TV distribution of any of the other Tatsunoko characters in that game, I had already contacted YEARS ago and they all told me their rights never extended to video games or toys. They were only for the home video or TV distribution and they had all expired. Take for instance Hurricane Polimar: That was a show created in the mid 70's. Same with Tekkaman. In the 90's, it got an OVA reboot and an American company (forget which one it was Viz or Manga Entertainment) bought the rights to distribute it in the West. When contacting them, they explained not only had it long expired, BUT, it ONLY pertained to rights of distributing the OVA and ONLY that OVA, meaning, they didn't even have the rights to the original show. This was the same for Tekkaman Blade (90's OVA series), as I said Gatchaman, Casshan (also got a 90's OVA reboot and another "Sins" in the 00's), Karas (an OVA made in the 00's), and Time Bokan (which didn't even relate to Yatterman despite being board of the 'series' as it was the first one and Yatterman was like the third. (Think 'Super Sentai' as a similarity of you will in how the Time Bokan series works) That left Itadakiman (literally "Home Run Man" btw) which is part of the time Bokan series, but never got localized period, and Genie Family, which got cut in the American localization of the game: which at first, people theorized it was due to European licensing but the reality is Capcom self censored the game because of fear of racial backlash due to him being an exaggerated stereotype. So by cutting Genie,, they replaced him with Condor Joe of Gatchaman, Yatterman 2, Tekkaman Blade, and on the Capcom side, added Frank West and Roll. Pretty fair trade off if you ask me But yeah, not current "license issues" lol That argument was squashed 14 years ago my friend. Tatsunoko is kinda hurting for money now anyway. I don't know of any new show or OVA they've put out in recent times that's been a hit. Hell I can't even think of anything they've put out This is probably why they resigned with notorious American distribution company Harmony Gold who long has held the Robotech (aka Macross) distribution license in the West, despite Studio Nue, Big West and Tatsunoko themselves frequently having taken them to court in the past to revert said license rights. A couple years ago, Harmony Gold's licent rights finally expired and everyone thought hooray now the Japanese get to have it back but nope .. Tatsunoko oddly allowed them to renew it I suspect Tatsunoko did that because they're financially hurting and was probably promised a portion of revenue for a possible live action Hollywood film of Robotech from Harmony Gold. Well there's no Macross in this game, never was, so no problem there. And btw as be said before, back then, to further solidify my argument on Western licensing rights, I had also contacted Funimation's lawyer regarding their rights to Dragonball Z and if that extended to video games and his answer was no they do not. Bandai Namco however has video game distribution rights to Dragonball Z but Funimation never did. They only held rights to the TV and movie stuff. With Macross/Robotech, that was the only odd anomaly where a Western anime distribution localization company (Harmony Gold) had exclusive rights to damn near everything which is why Tatsunoko/Big West/Studio Nue often took them to court in the past because they kept blocking Macross merch and anime coming in unless they got a financial cut of it. I guess whoever read those contracts back in 1984 or whatever didn't understand English lol they got bamboozled for sure by HG The reality with Tatsunoko vs Capcom is the game featured characters most people vin the West never heard of, similar to the situation with the Super Robot Wars series m, so there's usually a conscious effort to not want to localize games like that because of fear of low sales Tatsunoko got an exception because it was a test to see if the Western audience cares about vs games and if so, they'd go ahead and work on Marvel vs Capcom 3 which they ended up doing. I mean, we never got Tatsunoko Fight for PS1 localized, nor the Gatchaman vertical shooting game also for PS1. Likely because they didn't think those would sell Also the director of Tatsunoko vs Capcom stingily wanted to keep the game a Wii exclusive which is why we never got a port and both he and the American Capcom producer who worked on getting the game localized, both left Capcom later anyway. Hope you get it now.

According to Maximillian Dood, he said Tatsunoko vs Capcom’s biggest hurdle in the west is that while everything is under the Tatsunoko roof in Japan, that’s the the case in the US. Stuff like Battle of the Planets, Casshan, and Tekkaman all have different license holders. That is the biggest hurdle for its release in a collection.

This was the Hyper SF2 of Darkstalkers. It allowed you to choose between all 3 play styles from all games. But I don’t remember if this had an arcade port. -Street Fighter the movie. The arcade and console ports were completely different from each other. And I don’t know if there are license issues with the likeness of the actors. If you also wanna include SF2 HD Remix, 3rd Strike Online and Darkstalkers Resurrection, that’s fair. Also, Capcom during 05-08 had licenses to different IPs and just didn’t wanna develop them. So they gave them to Eighting or Arc Sys. You also forgot to mention the Kenichi PS2 game. Same situation than fate. Developed by Eighting, produced by Capcom. Outside of that, you pretty much got all of them. Good video!

The "licensing issues" of Tatsunoko really aren't as big a problem as many naive people assume they are. I proved this over a decade ago when I argued with many people who swore up and down that the game would never be localized in the first place (before it got localized) by contacting all the supposed western license company holders. These companies all assured that their licenses either long expired, or/and, they never extended to having rights over video game or merch distribution. Only tv and home video. And no the graphics are just fine (except for Frank West wtf)

@@abrahamochoa55 The argument isn't Tatsunoko but the proposed belief that "it's impossible" because there exists multiple US and European license holders to said Tatsunoko IP's they supposedly paid for said licenses over 40 years ago and they'll never expire and extend to full ownership of any and all merchandising outside just the TV and home video distribution rights of that time. Aaaaand that's all bullshit lol. Those companies never had full extension of merch rights (just like Sony doesn't have it with Spider-Man as they only have the movie rights) and they've either long expired anyway, or the companies themselves don't even exist anymore.

The games i think they gonna put in are: Slam Masters 2 (the 1st game already in capcom arcade stadium), Street Fighter EX, Streets Fighter EX2 (no EX3 because it’s never released on arcades), Final Fight Revenge, Rival Schools, Star Gladiator, Tech Romancer, maybe Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold (Alpha 3 Upper included in CFC2) and maybe if there’s hope Capcom Fighting All Stars. 2. Going for a late 00s-modern era collection. I think those games gonna be in: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition (No USF4 because it’s already available on Modern consoles via backwards compatibility), Street Fighter X Tekken, Sengoku Basara X, Fate/unlimited codes, Ultra Street Fighter 2 and possibly Mega Man X Street Fighter. 3. I can see Capcom doing deals with sony for bringing games like Street Fighter EX3, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, Darkstalkers Chronicles, Power Stone Collection, Onimusha Blade Warriors and many more to PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe because it’s easier to them and those collections using arcade roms than the console ports. 4. UMvC3 and MvCI will get port for Nintendo System (i think switch but possible for next gen) and UMvC3 will get re-release physical release for PS4 via Limited Run Games because capcom. 5. The battle arena games (heavy metal and spawn) will not be included in my opinion because they are not fighting games. I think alien vs predator will get release in an Capcom Beat Em Up collection 2 or Arcade 3rd Stadium.

To add some context the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection was launched because Marvel is promoting many X-Men related things this year including X-Men '97 through Disney Plus, Deadpool Vs. Wolverine at theaters, ongoing X-Men Marvel Legends action figures, and their newest X-Men Comics subscription through Marvel Unlimited, so it was in their best interest to have something beloved gaming related, and it was both, Capcom and Marvel, that took the opportunity for the collection. For Capcom's Fighting Collection 2 the case is different, first of all, the first mostly Darkstalkers collection didn't initially do as good as planned, so there was no follow up planned, however it has been catching up recently, and it seems it is starting to do good, but the real reason a second collection was made is to honor Hideaki Itsuno whom was leaving Capcom this August, which is why every single game in the collection is a game he worked on one way or another. Normally, Capcom wouldn't announce two fighting collections back-to-back next to each other like that, I mean even Marvel Vs. Capcom Collection hasn't even been released yet, but they did it because of the timing regarding Itsuno leaving, and to take advantage of the hype for the Marvel Vs. Capcom Collection getting a date release announcement, also on the following scheduled Nintendo Direct. The good news is that if these collections sell well, particularly if Itsuno's collection sells very well next year, there is a very high possibility for a third collection. Some of the games required some heavy licensing work around, but Capcom always honors good sales, and they will make it happen if that's the case. Knowing Capcom, the included games will be: - Ultra Street Fighter II - Fate/Unlimited Codes - Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom All-Star Battle - Sengoku Basara X - Star Gladiator - Rival Schools United By Fate - Final Fight Revenge - Alien Vs. Predator Sadly, it is very unlike that the Saturday Night Slam Masters will be released since Capcom considers them as Sports games, also neither it will be Street Fighter The Movie, or any of the Street Fighter EX games since Arika is now doing their own thing with Fighting EX Layer. The good news is that if Fighting Collection 2 sells well, the third one will happen with those games, and yes, they do have some copyright holds, that current Capcom would not have an issue overcoming. Another thing is that it seems any game that had a Dreamcast release is in line for the grabs now that they finally properly figured out the architecture, including anything on Naomi, and it is because of this that the good news is that these other Capcom games also have a chance to appear: - Tech Romancer - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - Heavy Metal Geomatrix - Cannon Spike - Mars Matrix - Giga Wing 2 - Super Street Fighter II X For Matching Service - Vampire Chronicles For Matching Service

Heavy Metal magazine and IP is currently split between Massive Publishing, which is an imprint of Whatnot (yes, the auction site) and Magma Comix. Clearing the name is the easy part. Music, second easiest. If any of the characters or assets came from stories in the magazine, they need to clear it from individual artists, writers, estates, etc. If there's any jodorowski or moebius stuff in there, good luck. That said, there's been success in recent years by redeveloping Heavy Metal projects under the Metal Hurlant name, depending on the lineage of the individual asset.

Snk lost the source code for all their Hyper Neo Geo 64 games. It’s literally impossible to get those games. Even emulation hasn’t been able to crack that software for the Hyper perfectly. Until someone cracks the emulation and shares it with SNK, those games will remain stuck on original arcade boards.

@@budgiecat9039 They were primarily arcade machine companies, not video games. SNK still have an archive of ALL of their arcade PCBs, neatly stored and organized just like how The LEGO Company has their archive of every LEGO sets ever made. More than anything else, I want to see Ring Of Destruction: Slam Masters 2 in a future collection. Not only has that one never had a home release, but North and South America didn’t get it at all, and there seem to have been areas of Asia that didn’t get it either. I know it doesn’t hold a candle to the original Saturday Night Slam Masters, mostly due to playing like a traditional fighter instead of a wrestling game, but it would still be nice to see it brought back.

Here's what I think would be the best case scenario, while also being somewhat realistic: SFXT, TVC, and Jojo all get separate re-releases, not as part of a collection, like SVC Chaos (provided that TVC and Jojo aren't absolute copyright nightmare scenarios) Capcom Fighting Collection 3 gets made, and contains the following: -Street Fighter EX +a -Street Fighter EX2+ -Street Fighter EX3 -Rival Schools (maybe Nekketsu Seishun Nikki 2 also) -Star Gladiator -Final Fight Revenge -Tech Romancer -whatever the most complete build of Capcom Fighting All-stars is -MAYBE Fighting Layer, since SFEX is there Additionally, if they want to be EXTRA cool, they could try the following: -Fate Unlimited Codes -Heavy Metal Geomatrix -Sengoku Basara X that last bit is just extra. Nothing I NEED to see but would be really cool if done.

I'm almost certain we will get Capcom Allstars now, just from Nakayama showing it off that it still exists in their archives.

The main issue with a 3rd FG collection to me is they don't have anymore really strong games to sell it on. Like let's be real, 99% of people are buying the marvel collection for MVC2. Same goes for the fighting collection 2 and CVS2. They're using those games as the focal point to sell the other ones. They don't have any games left that are anywhere near even CVS2 levels of popularity. They'd need to charge $30 or something if they do another collection with their remaining titles. I also wonder how long it would take for SF4 and MVC3 to qualify for a re-release. In a few years I'd would definitely consider those retro.

TvC might not be the biggest thing ever but there is definetly a very big audience there asking for it. Everyone already went asking for TvC to complete the capcom crossover trinity. Jojo and Fate can also carry with their IP brand. Specially Fate because the TM audience has been waiting for rereleases of old typemoon games, and we have been going really good with the remaster of Stay night and the announced of Hollow ataraxia. Unlimited codes would be the icing on the cake for the fandom to complete the OG Fate experience, playing both VNs and then going to use their favorite characters from the visual novels in unlimited codes.

From my perspective, after the first collection, the Marvel collection was inevitable. I even have the countercade that came out in 2022! Though that one doesn't have Marvel 2 because it simply can't be run on it (and they probably wanted to sell you $500 cabinet with just Marvel 2).

Capcom also had it's hand in number of action games that haven't be re-released in almost 20 years, God Hand, Viewtiful joe, P.N.03, Chaos Legion. Some of these need remakes down the line, others need just a re-release. So odd they did nothing with them for all this time.

Dude..... for a collection filled with games that have licensing issues that need to be resolved, how do you suggest Heavy Metal but not say a word about SPAWN? Did you not know that Todd McFarlane gave Capcom the rights to make a Naomi-based Spawn arcade game that played like a first-person Power Stone? It's called "In the Demon's Hand". I had it on the Dreamcast, and believe me, it's so good that I'd easily pay full price again for a single rerelease. But of ALL games worth negotiating with IP holders for to include in a new collection, Spawn is right up there with AvP. Why leave it out? They could make a Street Fighter EX Collection: Street Fighter EX Street Fighter EX Plus Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha Street Fighter EX 2 Street Fighter EX 2 Plus Street Fighter EX 3 But… if they made a Capcom Fighting Collection 3, then it would have to be a re-release of the 30th Anniversary with Rollback, along with Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 Max and Hyper Street Fighter Alpha as playable modes. But that would be beating a dead horse in my opinion. I think Capcom, by 2025 will have exhausted their retro collections and will have to do something different, like make a CVS3, if Garou does well.

The problem with these games is that none of them have that exciting "must buy!" hype factor like the past collections such as CVS, Power Stone, or the Vampire Savior entries. Aliens vs. Predator or Tatsunoko would be the exceptions to that statement but I have very little faith that Capcom could or would pursue the licensing rights from lord knows how many entities to successfully put them in a collection. Saturday Night Slam games are classic with a fantastic arcade cool factor but they are way more wrestling games than traditional fighting games, which is fine, but I don't think Capcom can move a third collection on the strength of them compared to the prior two.

I think you missed the MegaMan Battle Network collections when you were doing your recap of previous releases. Those games are great. AvP is one of my top 10 arcade games, but if Disney holds the rights to it wouldn't they have wanted to include it with all the other Disney properties on the MvC collection? It just seems like it would be an even bigger licensing headache to mix rights holders on a 3rd collection. If any one of them decides to pull out or sell away a property, the whole game would have to be delisted from digital marketplaces. And in this day and age, if any rights holders decide that Capcom has to pull an Ubisoft/Sony and revoke library access a la The Crew and Discovery Network TV shows, it could kill consumer confidence in future collections. (Physical media forever.) I don't know what could be combined into a volume 3, but I do hope that Capcom keeps making sure that its library is available to legally own for decades to come. Now, I just need to find which moving box I stored my Wii in, and I can go revisit my copy of Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
