Of the 3 bosses in every DLC, there's always one Co-Op boss with a designated Co-Op area where you're meant to summon friends to help you clear the area and fight the boss. The trio boss in this DLC was one of them, so don't feel too bad about getting absolutely blasted by these guys, you weren't meant to fight them on your own LOL

I couldn't tell on his play, but was there no summon for Rapacious Andrei? I mean, he's not much better than Aflis (They're both crap for anything but aggro, but Andrei's shotel at least does decent damage and he throws shit where Aflis just stands there getting beat on while he tries to cast point-blank and you have to draw aggro for HIM) but with a three way split, the extra HP the bosses get is negligible on a first playthrough...

They for sure are meant to fight one on one, as every boss in DS games. I had way less trouble with them than the others. Just circle backwords in a circle with a good shield and block when they attack and attack when they are open. The ranger miss every single time

The gank squad is easily one of the easier bosses. Matti was playing very poorly for that fight he still doesn't understand how to use a 2h sword he misses a lot of attacks by aiming incorrectly. Also at one point 1 of the bosses was like 1 hit for a good 30 secs and kept attacking havel instead of finishing it. Plus he's gotta stop spamming heavy attack with the 2h greatswords it leaves him wide open. If he takes all the into consideration he'd prob 1-3 try that boss solo

Remember the gank squad (dex/tank/ranged). You find a version of them in most Fromsoft games, and it will be really cool once you learn their origins and who they represent. The bloodborne version of them appears in the return to Yahar'gul before the One Reborn. It's the least reminiscent of the original but still has the elements of it. You skipped the DS1 Gank Squad because you kicked Lautrec off the edge.

For future reference, the way to distinguish ancient dragons from their ancestors (Wyverns, Drakes, Serpents, etc-); Is that Ancient dragons have 4 legs and 2 to 4 wings, their descendents have 2 legs and sometimes 2 wings. In this case, Sinh is a true ancient dragon. Edit: PSA, Mimics can be distinguished by the lid of the chests; mimics are slightly opened allowing you to see their teeth.

Hey Mati, I've loved this playthrough. It convinced me to give Ds2 a 2nd chance and I absolutely had a blast. I have a recommendation for your DLC playthrough. Each one has an optional boss that is meant really for co-op. The runbacks are atrocious and the boss itself is terrible. Highly recommend not getting hyper focused on trying to beat them, because you'll feel a lot of pain. Otherwise, enjoy some of the best parts of Ds2.

Each DLC has a "co-op" area, called that because in OG DS2 people who didn't have the DLC could leave their summon sign in a room outside the DLC door then have people summon them into those areas. These areas are almost universally disliked for reasons you'll quickly understand whenever you get into one. Cave of the Dead is Sunken's. You should at least try the others until you get to their bosses for content, but honestly if you don't feel like finishing them after that most people will completely understand and you won't miss out on anything important. In other news, Jester Thomas is a summon for Mytha in the Earthen Peak. He's (in)famous for being a NPC that can easily solo the boss you summon him for, that dude is cracked. He was loved before the DLCs came out, then he was turned into a invader and people got to experience the terror of having to fight him, lol.

The three guys you fought first are coop bosses. There's one of them in each DLC. The idea is to summon your friends to go through the area or use the NPCs they gave you.

One thing to remember, though you'll probably forget (I would, but your getting close since you're on the DLC's)...when you finish all three DLC and have all three crowns, you aren't done yet...there is one crown left to acquire...and you can only get it after you have the other three (But you can get some cool lore early if you "Go back" to that place)...if you remember the giant memories...look around where a crown would be for those little fireflies, that signifies a memory you can enter...(Those are actually called brightbugs...Milentia sells them...one of the best consumables in the game for an offensive physical build, +20% damage but -20% defense for 2 minutes) Sorry for being a bit cryptic...but that's that way of Dark Souls, isn't it?....hah hah hah...

Hey there Mati, finally catched up to your current playthrough and enjoyed the journey a lot. I am commenting this before watching the video completely because I have to go sleep soon. Just wanted to give some spoiler free suggestions. You expressed your intent to wield big swords in Dark Souls 3, but you are already doing it in this playthrough too sometimes? So, instead I would recommend using Dex based light weapons for this playthrough to make the switch to ultra greatswords in DS3 feel more impactful. First things first, go visit Chancellor Wellager (ghost dude in Drangleic Castle) for a reward. Also visit Captain Drummond in the Memory of Vammar for another reward. (Maybe you have already done it in this video, I don't know) Then, the weapons I would recommend are power-stanced "Espada Ropera" & "Rapier". Power stance is something which is unique to DS2, even Elden Ring doesn't have as much of a robust power stance system. Also, remember to equip Ring of Blades & Old Leo Ring. Next thing you need to do is trade in all your "smooth & silky stones" and "petrified something" with the crows. I saw you try to do it and you were doing it too slow. Just drop the stones one by one without coming out of the inventory menu and pick them all up later. It will take only about 2 minutes, and will reward you with a lot of good stuff. The last thing you need to do is visit the old ladies in the beginning and reset your stats. Your stats are too distributed right now. See the strength requirments of the Dex weapons of your choice and only level up your strength to that point. Also, your AGL is still on the low end, you should aim for atleast 105 AGL. Then distribute the remaining points in DEX, health & stamina. Also, go see Straid & McDuff sometimes in Lost Bastille, they must be feeling lonely. Have fun and good luck!

@@illusion8457 You can kill Midir in 4 minutes if you play him as he is meant to be (attacking nothing but the head and rolling backwards so that you have him in front of you). On SL1 NG+7 with Dragonslayer's Axe it took me 7 minutes top. It took me 9 minutes to kill Nameless King and I know both of them perfectly, Gael also takes longer. While Midir is pretty easy because his combos are very simple and he will not even use the big laser provided you are always near him, he is the peak dragon fight and imo one of the most fun and best bosses in the series. If you play him as intended, he is one of the most fair bosses. Sihn is also great though.

It is unfortunate for the brilliant composers, Motoi Sakuraba and Yuka Kitamura, because they have to use energy for so many crappy fights with little to no lore to give them any material as to what the music should feel like. Like they had to make themes for, “a bunch of rats,” “a big rat,” “a buncha skeletons (actually skeletons was enough for Sakuraba, that track is so fun).” And whenever they do have something to work with like the Ancient Dragon, the fight is ass, so no one remembers the experience and therefore listening to the music fondly. They did have some bangers in the base game not soured by crappy fights though. Thankfully, the DLC gave them so much to work with, and they return for Dark Souls 3 where they composed some of the most ICONIC pieces in all of gaming.

When you see an area with a lobby of several stone statues, those are challenge areas that the difficulty is enhanced, so it is more balanced toward having at least 1 co-op partner to help you. That's why there are a ton of enemies and a trio of enemies for the boss in the Cave of the Dead. There's at least one of these areas in every DLC. Yes, Cave of the Dead is optional, all the Statue Lobby areas are optional for acquiring the Crowns. You can always move on and do an episode or 2 for each of the other DLCs, then do an episode of DLC clean-up to get the important things you missed mentioned in the comments. The story of Shulva is also the story of the founding of Lindelt. Lindelt is a present day country of clerics that have very strict guidelines and rules to govern all things in their society. That is because in the distant past, they were the Drakeblood Knights (cool guys with the red capes) who craved fresh dragon blood. They assaulted Shulva, pierced the dragon Sinh, and killed nearly *everyone* when the poison held within the dragon since the Age of Ancients flooded the city. In a misguided attempt to honor those they had slain by their foolish action, they pillaged what remained of Shulva's knowledge (all the open chests) and founded Lindelt, governed by a strict code of conduct so that an error like the one made at Shulva could never be repeated. edit: done editing the comment 45 minutes later.

Each DLC has an optional area+boss, which is marked by a chamber similar to the beginning of the DLC (area before the gate that opens using the DLC key) with the same statues. This area could be played without buying the DLC if you are summoned from the chamber before the gate to the DLC. also,each Dlc finishes with a queen born from a fragment of Malus's soul and a crown who has lost its power but can be restored after killing Vendrick.

Each DLC has a designated "co-op" zone (one has 2, technically), and they all have those statue rooms. The runs involve a ton of enemies. You can take on each boss by yourself, but it doesn't hurt to keep the summons, since the run-backs are maybe some of the worst in the series. But they are explicitly co-op zones. Back in the day you could summon in people who hadn't bought the DLC to do those co-op zones so that they could have a taste. But yeah, purely optional. Wouldn't hurt to try though.

Great episode, I actually never discovered the first boss with the triple bosses. I been watching since the first episode and it's funny most the game mati complained the bosses were too easy. Now he's at endgame and the dlcs and he's run away from many of them lol. There's nothing in the game that will tell you this, but the reason you need to hold onto the giant souls, is cause without them it's near impossible to hurt Vendrick. Just don't want you going through the whole game never finding that out, cause you never fought him. The more giant souls you hold, the more damage you'll do to his wandering corpse.

When you insta died after the buildup before the gank boss fight(one with the archer and Havel guy and third dude) that wasn't poison nor toxic, it was petrify(Dark Souls 2's version of curse basically) and how it works is when petrified you lose double the percentage of your health bar than you normally would per death with hollowing(you lose 10% instead of the 5% per petrify death) but it caps at 50% maximum health.

Well played, dude! I made about half of your damage when I finished this DLC, around L100 or so. The 3 dudes probably took me 20 attempts or so with 2 summons 😅. Do not skip them, once you figured out the right strategy, they are doable.
