The reason you got hit with a lighting cloud in first race is because, what it’s mainly for is, (it’s in the item box) when you get it, you need to try to hit someone. You hit the person with the lightning cloud Lol😂

Tip you can trick by shaking the Wii remote and you can also Dodge a pow if you shake the Wii remote on time if you don't feel comfortable using to controls you can use a classic controller or nunchuck you can also hold items by pressing and holding left and right on the d pad I grew up on this game..this video brought back a ton of memories.. thanks for playing it

ZXMany ( how to drift ) press 2 and then lean into the turns. You can also drift on straights. ( Getting boosts at the start ) press 2 as lakitu changes to Go when he starts the race. ( Using and holding items ) press down on the arrows and just hold the down arrow to defend from red and green shells ( fake item boxes won't protect you from them or Blue Shells )

The best character to use is Funky Kong with the flame runner. (if you haven't unlocked funky Kong use Bowser) Also, there are more controller options and you don't use motion controls if you use the classic or GameCube controller.

A few tips and tricks: Hold slightly after 2 at start for boost, flick controller up when on a jump for a trick boost, and you can hold every single item in the game behind you, by holding, the only acceptions insta-use items. (Shrooms, bullet, blue shell, star, lightning lightning cloud, pow, ect). Btw, the lightning cloud that spawns and hovers above you gives you a boost, however, it is on a timer that will eventually shrink you. To pass it to another player, simply bump into them. Hope this helped!!!😃

(Stretch a band, and it’ll pull back in), if you get too far behind, they slow down as well. This is used to keep the AI always close and competitive, to allow for a more exiting experience versus the AI, similar to allowing for the AI to adapt to your skill level. This game along with MKDS played a huge part of my youth in the 2000's. I remember visiting a family friend's house a lot and he had a Wii console along with various Wii games such as MKWii and even Carnival Games (At that time, I never learned what shovelware games were). He even gave us a free Wii! I would always watch Amber play and spectate on the nearby couch in the guest room and it was really fun. :)

Also, to unlock the best character Funky Kong, go to time trials and unlock 4 fast staff ghosts on 4 different tracks.
