The problem is not that they play as they want, they just close the undertale and dont get full experience. They don't go any further, that's it, the end.. It makes me sad

I see your point but being told how to play a very decision driven story game to get a “good ending” is much worse of an experience than playing fully blind and choosing by yourself and get a worse ending. Playing pacifist or genocide after a neutral run is probably the best way to experience the game

All the blind playthroughs i've seen they usually end up killing her, which is understandable, it can be tricky if you don't spoil yourself like I did the first time because I didn't want to kill anybody and couldn't figure it out.

The reason people want players to get the pacifist ending so they don’t get discouraged from getting through the game again since most people don’t like playing and recording through the same game twice. Basically they’re afraid that she won’t ever get the pacifist ending because she’ll just want to move onto something else and won’t get to experience what people want her to. it’s a less scary thought when you know the player is dedicated to getting the endings and not just settling on one play through.

if i'm not mistaken, you literally are forced to get a neutral ending the first time you play. it even lets you have a QoL shortcut for pacifist, if you didn't kill anyone in the first playthrough.(you can reload the save after the obligatory/forced first neutral route. the game lets you backtrack and to a full pacifist run, with the dates and all.)

@@rainbowprism6242 Checking everything to see if it does something does occur to you normally cause a lot of game have secrets and as you play games you learn to try everything at least once cause you never know where a developer may have put a secret or a easter egg, the fact she only tried fight and Act and never even bothered to try the other two menu options and just immediately went to killing and also doesn't even try to read anything after being shown in the ruins that Z is in the interaction button I'm sorry but that's straight brainless. I like Alicia and love her videos and there is no correct way to play Undertale that is why it has Neutral, genocide, and pacifist but the way she did this game shows zero gamer intuition, it was like she never played a game before. Wanting to know about your surroundings and how to navigate it should be natural xD

I think what Alicia did was fairly expected for a first playthrough... just like when the game first came out. No one really knew what they were doing was a bad thing due to RPG conventions until they got far enough in to realize it. So no real reason to make a fuss about it.

*NO SPOILERS, JUST TIPS* First off, hi Alicia, I just wanted to let you know that the “MERCY” button is a game mechanic that gives you the option to spare enemies. If it helps, you could think of the battles as a conversation of sorts, once you successfully appease them using certain “ACT” dialogue options, their name and the spare option will turn yellow. When they turn yellow, that means you can “SPARE” them and end the battle. You unfortunately missed the tutorial for that when you accidentally killed the practice dummy, and also later on when you didn’t talk to the frogs hanging out in the Ruins 😅 Anyway, I’m loving your play through so far and I’m happy to see you’re enjoying it! The beauty of this game is far from over!

Because without context, "mercy" could mean "ask for mercy" as in "lose the fight". Being able to spare someone is unique to Undertale--which is probably why so many people misunderstand the option initially when playing the game blind.

Undertale playthroughs on Twitch - and even here sometimes on KZbin - are a cesspool of people trying to puppeteer your every action and decision so they can live vicariously through somebody else's blind playthrough. That said, the approach to the puzzles in the Ruins demonstrated that pattern-recognition is taking a backseat to the entertainer on the train of thought. Not that I expected anything different, but part of the joy of watching somebody solve a puzzle you've already discovered the pattern to is seeing that moment of recognition and understanding where they catch on and can see it too. It's not quite as fun to see every puzzle room just brute-forced until we can continue.

Pro tip, in a fight, if the dialogue or little text at the end of a turn is changing, you’re doing something, and you can keep acting the way you did. If it stays the same multiple time or is looping, that means you have to act another way. Sometimes you have to FIGHT even if you don’t want to kill someone, monsters may want to stop fighting when at low health

I hope to see Alicia go full pacifist in her next run. I never had an issue. I may have been spoiled with Mettaton and Asgore's fights (Not what happens after each of them), but I went in blind, and did true pacifist. It touted itself as "The friendly RPG where nobody has to die", and I took that to heart. And yes, parting with Toriel made me cry about as much as "Come to your mother. You must be so exhausted" did. And I rarely ever cry.

One of the biggest inspirations for this game was a cult classic snes game called Live A Live, it actually got a pretty stellar remake recently after years of only being available in Japan I cannot reccomend it enough, the English script is amazing.
