Phoebe Snow a force to be reckoned with! I grew up listening to her angelic voice in the 70s. She is a great lyricist as well as a powerful songstress. I love all of her music, but one of my favs is a 1968 cover she did of Barbara Acklin's Love Makes A Woman. You should check it out if you get a chance. Phoebe Snow, a legend in her own time, a beautiful talented Artist, gone too soon! Another angelic voice to listen to if you haven't already would be Angela Bofill "This Time I'll Be Sweeter."

Phoebe Snow was awesome. She had a 4 octave range. This was written by her in the 70's. No one was ever able to decide what genre she was be put in. Definitely no country! Soft rock, blues, jazz. I saw her live twice in the late 70's. I have been a fan since the first time I saw her in 1977! She studied opera about ten years before she died. She was wise enough to know that just because you sing in another language that does not make you an opera singer. Her music is greatly overlooked. This was the first song I heard her sing and it is a very chilled out one. She mostly sang songs she wrote herself. There are no bad songs on her albums. There are some I like better than others of course.

always wow...singing 30 years later at wake for a dear friend..her "somewhere over the rainow " will make Garland step aside ,,even though she chokes with emotion she finishes beautifully ...really worth searching up .

OMG, Phoebe! I've never seen reactions to Phoebe, who blazed some trails and is so often overlooked. Black women contributed tons to the great collective of women singer-songwriters, but were often overlooked by radio (Before the days of streaming, if your music didn't get on the radio, who would hear you?) Try Joan Armatrading next. My hipper-than-me RA in college in the 80's turned me on to her.

This audio is terrible. It may be the worst if the dozen or move videos of her performing. Treat yourself and listen to the studio version.
