This was 2PM first comeback after debut. Also the last comeback with Jay Park before he left. He's now the founder and CEO of two Hip Hop/RnB labels "AOMG" And "H1GHR music".

They were known as 'Beast/Beastly idols' because they were pretty big and athletic compared to other boy groups. They were well known in the beginning for their intense almost dance crew/b-boy style of choreography (their leader was a b-noy from Seattle) and later for sexiness/manly image as they matured. 2PM was one of the most popular boy groups in Korea bc they often appeared on variety shows so the general public got to know them well. While these days there market is saturated with groups and idol groups don't appear on tv as much anymore so few groups are loved as much as groups were in the past which kind of sucks...So 2PM is still well known by the gp today while SKZ aren't well known outside the fanbase in Korea...Feel like SKZ is like Got7 - they have more international fans than Korean ones even if the fanbase is growing. There was an incident with their leader Jay Park that left the group after an old controversial post he made as a teen resurfaced and he received a lot of hate for it (he's American and there is a lot of prejudice against ethnic Koreans born in foreign countries - like they aren't Korean enough, etc. Ethnically mixed Koreans also get a lot of crap) and he left the group after basically being bullied by the general public but later got popular again after posting yt covers and then started a solo career and founded his own hip-hop music label. He's successful and loved in Korea now. Wonderfully ironic isn't it.

waaaa 2pm is one of the first kpop groups I listened to some years ago, the nostalgia... the iconic "jyp" whisper at the start (like at the start of every song jyp has produced) bdxjjd it's been a while since I heard that omg,, thank you to the person who requested this reaction and of course thank you guys for reacting!! it's nice to watch some old stuff to see how kpop has evolved, in particular jyp entertainment groups' music, since you reacted to many of them already!! I'm excited to see your reaction to skz reinterpretation of this iconic song, I'm sure you guys liked it hehe

2PM was really one of the groups that laid the foundation for JYPE and made it what it is today. Even back then, they were quite unique from other boy groups. You should check out more of their songs! I am very happy and proud that SKZ covered this song, and also Bang Chan covering the choreography for 2PM's My House. Both 2PM and SKZ hold special places in my heart.

The original leader of this group is Jay Park, if I recall he left the group bc of something he said on his MySpace back when he was a trainee and it resurfaced and blew up in media. He’s Korean American, is CEO of H1ghr Music and AOMG, Hip Hop record labels. If you guys ever react to solo artists Jay Park is the guy. I’d recommend: All I Wanna Do Me Like Yuh Solo (feat Hoody) My Last (feat Loco & Gray)

Just an idea. You guys should do reactions to old/classic kpop songs. Since kpop started to gain popularity in the 90's you guys can see how the music has evolved over the years and what songs idols used to jam to as kid/teens.

2pm is my ult group and my intro to kpop! so let me do a brief intro. 2pm debuted in 2008 as 7 members through a survival program and were pioneers of incorporating acrobatics and stunts into their choreography. at the time, most other groups had more of a bugglegum, sweet image, whereas 2pm became famous for being the complete opposite and earned the nickname beast-dols (beastly idols). in 2009 the leader jaebum (now known as soloist jay park) left the group due to an "irreparable mistake". it was a messy breakup but 2pm and jay did very well on their own paths thereafter. 2pm in the same year won the grand award for artist of the year at the MAMA awards. after receiving much domestic success, they went on to debut in Japan in 2011 with Take Off, which is also an OP for anime series Ao No Exorcist. in 2013, they held 2 concerts at Tokyo Dome, attracting 100,000+ attendees total. due to their skyrocketing success in japan, it was inevitable that their korean promotions became less of a priority. 2pm has been on hiatus since 2017 due to korea's mandatory military service requirement. all members are expected to make a comeback by 2021! earlier this year, their popularity in Korea made a resurgence when youtube's algorithm started recommending their song My House (2015) and it finally got the attention it deserved. the general sentiment is that nobody can do mature and sexy concepts like 2pm. overall, i don't actually expect anyone to like 2pm if skz is what they're looking for LOL. they are different groups from a different kpop generation, and target different audiences. but 2pm is a super senior to skz and i hope new stays can also be respectful and aware of that too, just like skz are! I'm rly happy you guys decided put in effort to react to 2pm, even if it was only for context for skz's performance. thank you!

The OG Beastly Idols! Their concept was different from others back then because they were not "cutesy" boys or lowkey macho. They were in your face, "i am muscular" from the get go and known for acrobatics in choreos. Imagine doing that in every live performance or music show. Kpop groups these days don't do much jumps or back flips anymore to avoid injuries. PS: It is a JYPE requirement to learn and do acrobatics during trainee days. You get to see GOT7 do it in their early discography. Even Day6, a band, shared they had to learn it even if they won't be a dancing group. Hahaha. SKZ did some lowkey "acrobatics" in their live performances like when Chan jumped over a standing Felix. 🤯

Actually 2PM are known as Beastly Idols cuz they ditched the flower boy appearance kpop boybands usually have and used acrobatics and they were all tall (except Jay Park but he left) and manly. All their old songs had dance breaks after the song ends. Check out I'll be Back. It has the best dance break.
