These openings can be deceptive...it gets dark. "We Are" is the main theme song of One Piece its used for anniversaries and there is a very special version of it used in one of the episodes after the Wano Arc.

OP may seem a little childish but don't be fooled by his appearance. It is true that there is a lot of fun, humor and adventure, which are an important part of the affection we have for the show, and things that a child could enjoy, but they also present you with bleak stories, a truly deep plot, and very dark concepts as the episodes go by, despite showing them to you with bizarre designs and some jokes. It has better world building and background than any other anime. And many, many, MANY emotional moments. Like... there are 4 or 5 of them in the first 40 episodes, and I'm pretty sure you'll get teary eyes at at least 2 of them btw, the opening 7 is the same opening 1, but with the 5 original crewmembers singing it, Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Usopp and Sanji. Opening 10 is a remake, also of the 1st one, with a different singer and different instrumental

The first few obviously do a good job hiding the content of the arcs. You might even still cry a bit during the first 10 episodes lol. Starting around 5-6 , they start showcasing the arcs and a few fights. And as they got rid of ending songs at some point, then made the openings longer, almost full versions, you see a pattern emerge : the unrelated "happy go lucky" stuff and voyage , then half of the song is about scenes from the current arc.

Girl same~ I don't like sad stories either, but One Piece amazingly balances it with humour. The humour is a big reason (besides the story and the characters😂❤) that I have watched/read it till now~

If you can't watch 1,000 episodes, I recommend waiting for a future remake. They will summarize unnecessary episodes and footage and improve the production and direction.

If you watch one piece everyday for the next couple months, u will probably burn yourself out. Go at your own pace. Yes One Piece is silly but it has very serious topics.
