Great reaction.🦊 This was only on the Japanese release of the Metal Galaxy album in 2019 as a bonus track. When the song first came out a lot of people really didn't like it - the studio version has a lot of autotune and effects and a lot of those people thought they would and could not perform it live. They were happily proved very wrong. I saw them do this at Hammersmith and they took the roof off (what was left of it after the first few songs).🤘 This is what Su said about it in an interview: SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget! MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall? SU-METAL: Uh…what was it… KOBAMETAL (their producer): Flow? SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind." BMC probably means BABYMETAL Cypher (or BABYMETAL Metal Cypher ... a cypher being some sort of rap battle apparently - and the official MV backs this up), but some of us are still holding out for Bring Moa Chicken.🍗 In another interview the first question: Q: "How are you feeling right now?" MOA: "Hungry, I need to eat fried chickens". I see the 'Unhelpful' guide has been recommended to you. That particular guide is very out of date and contained a lot of inaccuracies and some very controversial personal opinions by the person who made it. CrypticMisery made a better and more accurate guide since then and the most recent and most accurate guide by A Fox Song is 'The 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰 Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL (April 1st 2024)' However, at this stage those guides are possibly a bit too comprehensive (and run for about 40 minutes). For you where you are now I would recommend 'A Quick BABYMETAL Guide for the New & Probably Lost Fans' by Omajination which is nearly as up to date and runs for 12 minutes. Sorry I can't post links, but just copy and paste those titles into search and you will find them easily.

This performance is from Legend MM which was in March 2024. I was in the crowd for this performance and I can confirm that this is the live audio, although it certainly has had some post production applied to it because this video is from the BluRay release of the concert. The concert was held at Yokohama Arena in front of 17,000 fans. BxMxC (BMC for short) is Babymetal's take on nu-metal/hip hop. In interviews, they talked about Su having to "find her flow" to do the rap vocals, as she'd never tried to rap before. I've seen her perform the song live eight times, and she's never missed a single word even once; she's just that good. Su has said that BxMxC is one of her favourite songs to perform live. The drummer is Anthony Barone. When he's not drumming for Babymetal, he is also the drummer for All That Remains. He's a beast on the kit that is known for his speed. Babymetal were just in the US a few weeks ago. They played 18 shows. They visit the US pretty much every year. The next song you should check out is Megitsune. It's considered by fans to be the quintessential Babymetal song. You can either check out the original music video from 2013 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyWf4CQdrp-fdk or the live versions from PIA Arena 2023 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5XFooRjocl5lbc

Since you like the beats on this song, I recommend: - BABYMETAL - 'Sis. Anger' [LIVE PROSHOT] [SUBTITLED] [4K HQ] Sadly it is a compilation video, I was unable to find a good one from a single concert. There was one, but it zoomed in on their faces, probably to get around blocks. There are 4 songs from Black Babymetal, which is just Moa and Yui (or Moa alone): - Sis Anger, - Onedari Daisakusen, - GJ - 4 no uta Black Babymetal go harder in metal, and cuter in vocals. The contrast is very cool. For some of these songs they have some extra dancers, it is speculated that these are other members from Sakura Gakuin. There are also a few su-metal solo songs; especially in the early years this allowed each of them have some time backstage to slam some cold ones.

Eventually, some of the more dedicated fans (The One) will come on here and start to fill in some of the blanks for you, but sometimes, especially w/ someone so new to BM and their extensive history, it's hard to know where to start. Does one make recommendations in chronological order, by eras, or focus in on greatest hits? There are several "guides" to BM, but in general, they are not recommended right away, as not to "spoil" latter reactions, but in the case of an "enquiring mind", perhaps getting some of the early origin history out of the way might be a good thing. As I said, there are several guides, some better than others and although overlapping, cover different time-lines. This one has a silly robot voice and is a little too PC, but it covers the early history well and stops around 2018, leaving lots to discover latter. The music clips are very short, so one needs not to worry about spoiling a latter reaction. If you decide to do it, doing it as reaction vid is great w/ us. Although it's bit long, we like watching reaction vids to the guides. Just an idea, we will see what others think of this idea and you can decide. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2rbg5yFd6xraNk P.S. Once the "shock" of BM's genre-mashing fades a bit, there are so many levels on which to enjoy BM. Their art (Song and dance), the production value, the fan interaction and the thing most don't realize when introduced to BM, the depths of their song meanings. The first thing to know about BM, is that they are very Japanese w/ a Zen outlook on the World. Babymetal songs, even seemingly simple ones, usually have layers to peel back for deeper meanings. If you decide to go down The Fox Hole, you will be in for years of enjoyment.

@@ShadeReactsLive Megitsune is considered to be one of BM's "most Japanese" songs and concerns changing female roles in Japanese socity. BM is always sutle, but they have recurring themes of empowerment and they, like Atarashii Gakko, like to gently push back on the idea of norms. It would be worthwhile to ck out the lyrics before watching. But again, which Megitsune? There are a number of versions and here things get a little complicated. Most will say "live BM is the best BM" yet the Megitsune music video is iconic and captures early BM to a tee. The Headbangerrr vid is like this too. Since there are only a handful music videos by BM, I feel you might be missing something to skip over the 2012 video and going straight to a latter "live" performance. And "live" can mean a number of things too. Most BM vids are of a live performance and when they are shot and marketed by their production Co, Amuse, they tend to have copyright issues. And there are the "live pro-shot" vids, which are wonderfully shot and seldom have copyright issues. People are of two minds on these and although none would say they aren't beautiful, many feel they are pirated and depriving Amuse of revenue. I don't feel that way as my attitude is if Amuse is going to block everything......And I don't think Amuse is suffering any hardship. At any rate, they include some really great performances.

The "live or not live" depends on the video. For ones that say "live performance" it'll be the live audio. For ones where it's a concert video on their YT channel those will often be the studio audio laid over the live concert footage. They do that so that the view counts in the charting because it's content matched by companies like Billboard. For me the live video and audio is the way to go, sometimes the studio audio gets too polished and over-cooked. It's way more engaging for me to hear Su and the Kami band's live performances.

Wait till you get to react to Sis.Anger, which by consensus is BM's most bonkers song ever lol. But do take your time & react to as many of their other songs as possible first. The four songs by Black Babymetal (i.e. Moa & Yui) are worth the procrastination: each of them stylistically different, but also collectively juvenile (the BBM subunit was basically retired after Yui left in 2018), & the overall cheeky juxtaposition even more outlandish than hearing Gimme Choco or BxMxC for the first time.

They always give 100%. "BxMxC" blows the roof off any venue they perform it at. If you get to experience it live, you´ll be hit by a Heavy Metal freight train 😄"She´s having so much fun doing that part". Yup, she does. Regardless which live concert you choose to watch, she does this part flawlessly, and her attitude on stage... well, we call her "Queen" for several reasons😉 I´ve experienced this live myself. Phenomenal! The two "backup dancers" are Moametal and Momometal, in charge of "Scream and Dance". They do the bulk of the choreography, harmonies and backing vocals. Besides that they are in charge for most of the crowd work. These two are masters in crowd control. Moametal´s full body headbanging is awe inspiring, and Momometal´s smile makes everybody smile back. You can´t help it 😉 At one day in the future you´ll hear them actually sing the lead, and you´ll be amazed, once again, promise! Great reaction! There are indeed very few songs that don't add at least one additional genre to the mix apart from Metal. And somehow they always make it work. You'll find some EDM, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Ska, Waltz, Indian and Latin music, and even a hint of Reggae. And then there's the other elements that they add like the choreography, insane musicianship, cool stage designs, crowd interaction parts and, last not least, the cute smiles, as you have seen. So I think your question about whether to check out studio or live stuff is already answered. Recommendations are actually not easy, just because everything is so good. Just one heads-up: They have been doing this for about 13 years now, so considering their current age, you can imagine that they looked quite different back then. BxMxC is from the third album, so perhaps it might be a good idea to check one song from each album first before diving deeper? My recommendations would be: 4th album: Monochrome 2nd album: Karate (also has a great music video) 1st album: Megitsune (again, good music video, which also reflects their age at the time)

Thanks for this reaction. If I'm not mistaken 17 000 people at Yokohama Arena from 2024. This was actually a birthday show for the fairly new member Momometal (MM for MoMo) 21st birthday, also youngest member. A slightly smaller stage than where they often perform, I think Yokohama is near where Momometal lives or was born, her home town I guess. They more often perform in Tokyo, which was the same venue as the Kingslayer performance, which is 20 000 people. Babymetal were already performing in the US in 2014, that's 10 years ago. And performed in the states 116 times, already performed in 45 states. 🙂 The first year was a bit of an odd one, Babymetal at a first ever US show in LA, then they opened for Lady Gaga for 5 shows and then performed in NYC. Yes, Babymetal has pop influence, but they are loud, so opening for Lady Gaga which has a lot of kids in the audience is a bit wild. Then again, Babymetal were kids too. They were 15, 15 and 16. It was stated that this wasn't some record company that came up with connecting Babymetal to Lady Gaga, it was her request. Lady Gaga performed with Metallica for an award show and has said in the past she likes metal music, so I guess it makes sense. Babymetal performed in Texas twice in 2023 Houston and Dallas, ones in 2019 in Dallas and 3 times in 2018 including Dallas. So yeah, they definitely do/did Dallas !

You'll get to see how good Su was even at 16-years-old and you'll get to see the Kami Band guitarists come forward for the spotlight for their guitar solos. 2021 Budokan focuses on a pair of support dancers (not Moa and Momo) instead of the guitarists during their solos. By the way, Akatsuki is 1 of 4 songs that are Su solos, meaning she performs them by herself without the other members of Babymetal. The others are Rondo of Nightmare, Amore, and No Rain No Rainbow. There are also 4 "Black Babymetal" songs (Onedari Daisakusen, GJ!, Sis Anger, and Song 4) that Moa and Yui performed together without Su. After Yui left, Moa performed some of them by herself occasionally. They have not yet been performed by Moa and Momo together.

"Crazy, mind melting blends of genres." Yeah that describes it pretty well. You have soooooo many incredible performances ahead you. Every comment was really good. They BM just finished touring America. But they've also had six world tours. And their live performances are legendary. Babymetal do greAt collabs and really every single song they have is uniquely different. And still always un-mistakably Babymetal. Watching the expression s on your face and hearing your comments. Well I must warn you. You are showing all the positive signs of someone who could fall for Babymetal hard. I know because I did the same thing. Not KZbin but being introduced to them and then falling heard over heals for everything I've seen and heard. They're super sweet as people too. No oversized ego's here. Just really nice super skilled, well entertainers. They really are more than just rock stars with the productions they put on. I believe this was at the Yokohama Arena with a sold out crowd of 17,000. One of the things you'll discover very quickly is the bond between Babymetal and their audiences. It is something special.

Love that. Glad they are down to earth. We’ve all seen far too many examples of people who gain fame as children/teenagers loose a grip on reality as they grow up. It’s refreshing to see they are just loving the process

@@ShadeReactsLive They've pretty much literally been working at this their whole lives. The years of training and practicing. And they've had tough times too. Yui one of the original members had to leave for health reasons and the same year their beloved guitarist Fujioka Mikio died in a tragic accident falling from a platform while star gazing. They've had to bear the brunt of derision from heavy metal gate keepers. And through it all even as young performers they've always worked their way through it all with determination and heart. The more one finds out about them the more one begins to appreciate all they've accomplished. One more thing. They are Japan's most successful musical export ever. Right now there are a number of particularly talented female rock and metal bands making inroads in the West. In many ways the road paved by Babymetal has made that if not possible. Well then at least much easier. Again loving your reactions.

I loved your response too. I have one thing to say. The first radio show by these girls will begin in January of the new year. This is the first time in BABYMETAL's 14 years of activity and all the fans are amazed. Yes, out of anticipation and anxiety. The broadcast will soon be subtitled in English by fans and uploaded to KZbin. I can't wait to see their modest egos on display there for the first time.

Good reaction. Most of their songs have the "that's different" factor, so you have a journey ahead of you. I would suggest to always prefer the live videos, except for the early songs (they started as kids over 12 years ago). I think a good next reaction would be the original MV for the song "iine" as it compines a lot of different genres.

I've been tracking down live performances from their history (basically 2012-now) for years, and have yet to be disappointed. Great reactions! I had the pleasure of experiencing this live a month ago in DC, and sweet Baby Jesus, this song crushed my chest and soul 🤣. BxMxC does mean "Babymetal Cipher", but fans know it as "Bring Moa Chicken" because of how much Moa loves food and fried chicken 🤣. And yes, all their stuff are crazy mind-melting blend of genres. Legend MM was Mar 2024 in Japan, and Momometal's 21st birthday show. The lyrics: Su-metal is trash-talking a pretentious opponent who needs to validate their pride, and put them in their place. English translations do not do the smartness of the lyrics justice, lol. Suggestions: *Road of Resistance (Pia Arena MM 2023):* Epic anthem *Monochrome (Pia Arena MM 2023):* "I'm not crying, you're crying" *Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014):* SlipKnot, but cute, and hide and seek. *iine! (Official MV):* "Baby" Babymetal. Released Mar 2012, their 2nd song ever. Get slapped by the transition. Recover, then get instantly slapped again. 🤘🦊

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Su-Metal is singing about some established style which used to be revolutionary and literally "stylish" but has turned already obsolete like an "Illusion of Rusted Chain" (last phrase of Su's rapping). Lyrics are suggesting breakthrough in or challenge to the status-quo (including the status of BM itself). When I heard studio version of this song for the first time, I was skeptical that this challenging song would be played live on stage. But they did it flawlessly with clear vocal and sharp choreo. I witnessed it Day-7 in 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concert in 2021 (and many times thereafter including one in your video). I, a poor skeptic, had to beg our Queen & Princesses for their forgiveness. 🥶

Solo song, monochrome first take to see Su-metal as an amazing vocalist. Then do monochrome live at the PIA Rondo of nightmare with mischiefs of gods, to hear outstanding musicians solo, then being upstaged by a 16 year old su-metal Road of resistance, for crowd control Anyway, the best BM song is the one i am listening to I am a 60+ old metal head brought up on deep purple, black Sabbath, Nazareth, Metallica. All 3 are amazing vocalists, so dont just concentrate on Su. Its disrespectful to Moa and Momo. They are currently touring the US. I saw them in Cincinnati a few weeks ago.

Some fans are a bit touchy. Moa and Momo are indeed fine vocalists but really not close to Su. But indeed they are not second class members or anything like that. They are full members not "backup" anything. The dance is as important as anything to what Babymetal is. The US tour has been over for a few weeks now but they come back pretty much every year.
