I found this explanation for Paper Tiger from on The Wrap on Yahoo..."It’s poking fun at how so many things nowadays that are made out to be this big thing that aren’t, while these other things are walking around and for some reason, they’re being ignored,” he explained.

I just discovered this channel, watched a bunch of videos on it, and I have to say that I'm impressed. I like reaction videos, but for every channel that has something to offer, there are far more that don't. So many people doing these things just don't have much to add to the content involved or, even worse, are so uninformed or inarticulate or worse that watching them is a big waste of time. So you move on when that is the case, but then you find a channel like this. This woman brings so much intelligence, awareness, intuition, humor, expressiveness, personality, and articulation to the job. She is a delight to watch and to listen to. She has everything that makes content such as this worth watching. Love it.

If you like both docs and history, I'd like to recommend you, and anyone reading, to watch "Jodorowsky's Dune" (regardless if it's for a reaction or by yourself). It's a documentary about a movie destined to be the GOAT, BUT... "something" (I'd rather let the movie itself tell you the story, since its amazing). Without spoiling anything, there's two big reasons why this doc blew my mind: the ride as you discover the names involved in the project; and the amazing way it ended up influencing pop culture. Well, all that AND peeking into the mind of the "brilliant mad artist" himself, Alejandro Jodorowsky.

What's funny about this joke is that most of his jokes stem from thoughts and conversations he has on his podcast. When he said to Nia that white people created skateboarding, she flipped it and said skateboarding came from surfing which originated in pacific Island areas by people of color. So he laughing was like WTF, did white people not invent anything? We still invented skateboarding. Just because we got the idea from surfing doesn't mean we don't get credit.

I don't think I've ever "Met" Mrs. Burr. Some personalities on You Tube introduce us to spouses, children &c. while others don't. A Southern white guy sometimes takes his wife along to creekwalks looking for antique bottles, sometimes she finds the best stuff. My favorite meme guy has given us a still once, of his wife & child a few months ago. He does appropriate hip hop culture, insofar as wear a backwards cap and headphones, as a white Minnesotan. He never "Talks hip-hop", like some white kids I met 20 yag.

Just wanted to add, though not sure how true this is, but I heard that Elvis actually gave a lot of money back to where he came from (which was a heavily black area; hence, why he made 'black music', and was one of the first major white guys to do that). I guess, you could make the case that he could have given shout-outs more to earlier artists and such, but he's not going to stand around just listing black names all day, that's just weird. Most of his songs and time was spent hiding away or in movies. Or just singing on stage. Like, when could he have even given shout-outs without it being a bit weird and out of place? If he was born today and did lots of interviews and stuff, he'd most likely tell you all about it. P.S. You could make the case that he is always paying respect to the blues and jazz and such merely by the fact he is doing the music at all. Compare this to lots of later white guys doing black music, or clearly music that came direct from blues and such -- they give zero credit, but because it doesn't really 'look black' or 'sound black', nobody complains and demands that they give shout-outs, but in reality, they should do that just as much as Elvis should have. This makes me think the whole thing is a bit of a pointless scam. Not to mention, modern white music is heavily black (hip hop, rap, etc.), and nobody bothers to care or talk about this. But, for some reason, Elvis is evil for being white. In theory, most modern white artists and Asians, for that matter, are all 'appropriating' black culture and music. (Of course, speaking of blue grass, blues itself came out of the country type music of the 1800s, so black people didn't out-right invent those lyrics and sounds in the 1900s in America. Great example is that song, 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night?' famous by Nirvana, and Lead Belly (black artist from a long time ago), but it was actually written and first recorded by a white country guy. Nobody had problems with black Americans taking white music in 1920, so we shouldn't have much problem with Elvis taking black music in 1960, or black artists taking white music in 2005, or white people taking black music in 2005. I really don't like the game of so-called 'appropriation'. It's dangerous and useless. The entire notion sounds like an invented piece of ideology by activists, and has Marxism and post-modernist power structure theory some such written all over it. Namely, it's only seen as a problem if the 'dominate culture' takes something. So, if you're a minority member, you're actually allowed to steal from the dominant culture of your nation, which is very morally and culturally weird.)

I don’t know where the racism thing comes from because I was raised with Elvis as the guy who opened doors for black artists and went against his manager to sing If I Can Dream about Dr King in 1968 because he was so torn up about the assassination and for a white guy like Elvis to do that at that time took 🏀. He didn’t like getting political and avoided it 99% of the time, but on that occasion he took a stand. He also grew up in a black majority neighbourhood and sang the music of the people he hung out with. I grew up around south asians, so naturally I want to dance when I hear Indian music. It gets me in the mood for pakoras.

I agree that Elvis was not a racist and, by all accounts, was the opposite of that and a great guy. I'm sure he would have had no problem acknowledging and paying respect to the early black rock and rollers that inspired his own style and music (the early Beatles did the same). He wasn't to blame for the fact that white dominance of industry and media in his time resulted in a far larger share of the profits of this kind of popular music, once it's popularity exploded amongst white Americans, went to whites. It's all just a reflection of racial and economic inequality in 20th century America. Was it cultural appropriation? That's complicated. In a better world we could all engage with and absorb what's good in other cultures without it being an act of stealing.
