"people when they sing, they make me feel things" - don't ever lose that. Technical analysis is all well and good, but never lose the art and soul that music makes you feel. In the end, that's what really matters. What does this make me feel. Beautiful. You and Chris.

John Lennon was a man way ahead of his time! A talent unequaled, and a great human being. Imagine hit the world right in the middle of crisis all around the world. The United States was coming out of the Vietnam War, racisim and segregationism had taken blows and was weakening. People were trying to change, and this song was meant to stir the feelings of being better to one another. Great song, amazing songwriter, and overall great human.

Britt... A thought on one you might really want to hear. A John Lennon piece done with his mates; The Beatles. The song is ' Across the Universe', covered by the band Evanescence, the singer is Amy Lee. While often a heavy metal sound to Evanescence , her cover of this Lennon masterwork is absolutely beautiful. I believe you will be blown away by her voice, she can sing like an angel.
@hackapump Жыл бұрын
John Lennon’s original is from 1971, and he was all about keeping it simple, after the experimentation, innovations and (in his mind) excesses of The Beatles in the recording studio. So it’s just a very simple and sparse beat of drums and bass with John’s piano and vocals on top - (and briefly a 70s string machine, in lieu of orchestral strings, if I remember correctly). For fans of John and The Beatles, such as myself, this song has been played to death over the years, by casual listeners and radio stations. And I wouldn’t mind never hearing the original again. Imagine my surprise when Chris came along and breathed new life into the song. That’s no small feat, capturing an audience sick and tired of the song.

After listening to the original John Lennon album version, you might enjoy Stevie Wonder at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Also, if you look at the lyrics a little differently than the usual way, all of the things he is talking about getting beyond are things we are already imagining - the human concepts of religion, the imaginary lines separating countries, and the ego's need for false security in imagining that it can own anything, which results in greed. So that would be more an idea of seeing through our unconscious habitual imaginings, and the fears behind them.

Britt, Britt, Britt, how could you have never heard "Imagine" by John Lennon? You've almost have to have heard it somewhere in your life in passing perhaps in a department store or somewhere. This song was the title track from his 1971 album of the same name. The song has been the worlds anthem since it's release in 71. This went on too be the anthem of the Vietnam war protests throughout the seventies along with his "Give Peace A Chance". Yes, he was a Beatle, the founder of the band. The Beatles split up in 1970 and all four went on to have very successful solo careers. Not only were they inducted in the freshman class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame but all four were also inducted in as solo artists and the only ones with that honor as both a band and solo artists. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The Beatles and the four most iconic names in the history of recorded music. Lennon was shot to death on the night of December 8th, 1980 while entering his home in NYC by a deranged fan. George Harrison passed in 2001 from lung cancer. "Imagine" was pronounced by the United Nations as the worlds anthem during the worldwide Covid lock downs. This song was all over the news as people were singing it from their balconies from NYC to Italy, Spain, Germany and all across Europe. This cover was ok but not in the same league as Lennon's. You need to react to the official video by John from 1971. Him sitting at a white piano and performing this in his home will give you goose bumps, that I will assure you. One of a kind voice that will send a chill down your spine and to watch him performing it. Come on man, it's John F_ _ _ ing Lennon. I've seen many react to this so you should be able to do it. John and the song deserve you reacting to it. If I don't see this down the road I may have to get Bill Burr psycho pissed off. Well maybe not psycho pissed but pretty pissed off. Anytime you do covers you should also do the originals for context. Peace ❤
