Check out the Styx song "Lady" Dennis wrote it for his wife, back in the early 70s, they were married in 1970 and still are today, 54 years.
@bostonvair Жыл бұрын
"What instrument is that?" Keys/synthesizer. Fun fact: Styx had more than one lead singer, but the guy singing lead in this song is Dennis DeYoung. He has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1970. There are two big Styx hits that DeYoung wrote for his wife Suzanne. Lady (one of Styx earliest hits, circa 1973... I love that song... very haunting and builds from quiet to kick-a$$ by the end.... and Babe from 1979, which De Young wrote as a birthday present for Suzanne. He performed it for her with some of his band mates. It wasn't meant to be for public consumption, but his band mates and/or record execs rightly guessed that it would be a big hit, and the song was included on Styx' next album and it was a huge hit, making it all the way to #1 in the US and Canada. You ought to react to both of these songs (Lady and Babe).

This song is from 1977. Wikipedia-Lyrically, the song uses sailing as a metaphor to achieve one's dreams. The lyrics touch on nostalgia of "childhood friends," escapism, and a religious thematic symbolized by "a gathering of angels" singing "a song of hope." The ending lyrics explain a transition from a sailing ship into a starship, by narrating that "they climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies".
