I have worked at Dollywood since 2014..Miss Dolly is my Boss ! We just opened our 39th season this past Friday. Our first festival of this season is "I Will Always Love You" Musical Festival...Dolly was at Dollywood on Friday and Saturday...We love our Queen Dolly ! ❤ If you haven't listened to her song "World on Fire off of her Rockstar album ,you need to give it a listen..also her duet with Kenny Rogers, "You Can't Make Old Friends" It sums up their very special friendship.

Rolling Stone Country recently named this recording by Dolly as the greatest country song of all time. Some years ago, "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton was named as the greatest country love song of all time. Now, brace yourself, a few years ago, Dolly revealed that she apparently wrote both these songs the same day or night. Since Dolly doesn't read or write music, she uses a tape recorder when she writes songs. They were organizing her tapes and lyric sheets and discovered those two songs were written one right after the other in one session. No wonder the NYC Songwriters Hall of Fame awarded Dolly with their highest honor, the Johnny Mercer Award.

I don't think Dolly has ever sang/sung a song she didn't write... She's made more bank by others singing her songs than she made on her own singing #1 hits of her songs.. Songwriters do tend to make more money... She always thanked Whitney for singing I Will Always Love You.. Dolly took that one all the way to the bank.. and what is amazing about Dolly.. she gives back.. she's put so much money into her Imagination Library and Dollywood that made her hometown so much money and jobs to the ppl. she's our American Treasure.. Don't mess with Dolly

She has also recorded hits written by others: Dumb Blonde, In the Ghetto, The Last Thing on My Mind, Here You Come Again, You're the Only One, Sweet Summer Loving, Great Balls of Fire, Starting Over Again, Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You, Heartbreaker, Why'd You Come in Here Looking Like That, and her hit with Kenny Rogers on Islands in the Stream. Her own songs are often best suited to her voice, but Dolly can sing anything

She was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. She at first turned it down, but they did it anyway. So, she went out and recorded a new album of rock songs. Often dueting with the original artists. Check out one of her new songs, "World on Fire." I believe there is a live video from the 2023 Grammys.

I love seeing you fall in love with this amazing woman. Her kindness and generosity are the stuff of legends. She has a program called Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, where she will send out a free book every month to kids 5 and under. Many of the books feature newer and lesser known authors, and a number of the books are all kinds of inclusive. She also donates to a lot of causes, and donated $1million toward Covid vaccine development. She's one of the rare, kind souls who emanate goodness and love from every pore. I always thought of Keanu Reeves as being equally as good of a human... come to find out, his mother was a seamstress for Dolly Parton, and he remembers playing at Dolly's feet when he was a kid. Clearly her pure love rubbed off on him! Enjoy the Dolly journey, it is an amazing one!

I agree with your statement that songwriting is Dolly's superpower. I became a fan in 1970 when I heard her cover of Muleskinner Blues. I remember reading a music journalist who described Dolly's version compared with Jimmie Rodgers version and Bill Monroe's version. "Dolly's recording just blows past Rodgers and Monroe like a Lear Jet overtaking a Model T Ford and a 1957 Chevy." (Or words to that effect). So I began listening to Dolly and buying her albums in 1970. I soon discovered that Dolly wrote a high percentage of the songs she recorded. I always looked for the name of songwriters whose songs I admired. I was just a teen back then, but I knew that songwriting was a completely separate talent aside from singing. Any singer who can write hits for herself (or himself) has a big advantage. Many great singers either don't write hit songs or write songs that aren't good enough to propel their career. (Taylor Swift is her own songwriter and I think that is her secret to overwhelming success.)

When you threatened anyone who might say something negative about her, you know you have countless others right there with you. Generous to a fault, and with such a true loving heart - she really is one of the best human beings of the modern era. She spends her time and money helping others and still also creates such beautiful art. By at least a few definitions - Dolly is a prophet. Her songs are written in a way that makes you feel like they're divinely inspired and led, and she can change the world with a handful of words. Hell, she HAS changed the world a few times over! I think of her as Bhodisattva; someone who has earned their place in Nirvana(paradise) but chooses to stay behind and help others.

Sometimes Dolly shows up at Dollywood, the park that she created. I’ve seen her there before but wasn’t close enough to talk. I recommend Dollywood highly for anyone. But def if you like roller coasters. Dolly made her home town of Sevierville into what it is today, with all those jobs she created.

This is Dolly's best version ever. I recommend that you also listen to the slowed down version used on the TV series "The Blacklist." By slowing down the playback, it shows how perfectly Dolly sang her lyrics, how well the guitar and other instruments were played, and how in sync Dolly was with the band. Then you need to hear the version produced by Linda Perry for the soundtrack for Dumplin'. Finally, the version she did with Pentatonix, which won a Grammy.

I heard, be careful on believing what you hear, but 2 stories, one that a young girl came up to her and her name was jolene and dolly loved the name and told the young girl to listen if she ever used her name in a song. 2nd there was a lady at bank that was pretty and smiled at hubby.. And dolly noticed, but never any kind of relationship. Its called writting skill to create a great story from life experiences.
