You nailed it on this one! He struggles with Bipolar Disorder and D.I.D. So Mito and Mr. Insanity are his alters. He does control and manage a lot of his own work. He edits, produces, writes songs (sometimes his alters write songs). His efforts to try to give us a visualization for what he goes through and create art from it is so inspiring. ☺️

just to clarify, he has bipolar disorder but shortening it to BPD is actually the acronym for borderline personality disorder (which he does not have as far as we know) so maybe you could edit this🖤🩶🤍

You would think there's a huge budget right?! Ian literally writes and composes his songs, directs and edits his mvs as well... it's literally a one man production... it's baffling and mind-blowing to be honest. (Of course he has helpers/assistants but he's behind everything and does like 90% himself). He's so brilliant it's not even funny. Wait until you discover the reason behind his magnificence.

Dpr Ian aka Christian Yu is a Korean-Australian singer, musician, editor, director etc. So yes all the amazing editing you’re seeing was done by HIM❤ He is an incredible artist who makes all of his music and music videos!❤ he’s really one of a kind. Ian has Bipolar and DID (dissociative identity disorder). His music and videos explore those subjects, they also include his “alters”. “Alters” are basically other personalities that live in one person (they have different memories, attitudes, habits, tones etc). DID is caused by experiencing severe trauma over a long time in childhood. Ian blacks out when he switches. The alters he has included in his work so far are: MITO He takes over during Ian’s manic lows. He is destructive but also Ian’s protector. He holds Ian’s trauma and keeps it all locked away. In music videos he can be seen wearing dark clothes, an eye ring on his finger, he has one white eye, and his voice is made very deep. Mito recorded the song Skins and also shot the mv. Ian has no memory making it but posted it. It’s very raw❤ MR INSANITY he takes over during Ian’s manic highs. He is very chaotic and lacks care for his own safety. Mito actually hates him bc of those things. He can be seen in music videos with blonde hair, clown-like makeup, fireflies surrounding him, his eyes sometimes flash pink and green. THE HYBRID it is a combination of the worst parts of Mito and Mr Insanity. Ian has called it an “abomination” and “entity”. The hybrid does have a name but Ian has said on his live that only about 6 people in his life know it. He might share the name soon as his upcoming album is mainly focused on The Hybrid. It’s appearance in music videos is a mix of Mito and Mr Insanity. Basically the look he has in the Limbo mv. Pls react to more ❤

11:16 the dpr visuals +ian is always backwards when he's the one directing the MV (he's the one who directs all the DPR videos, not just his music!). It's backwards (or mirrored, technically) because he's placing the audience to see his perspective while he's behind the camera as the director :)

Thank you to whoever suggested miito movie. Its my fav thing ians ever made. He edits and directs all his own stuff which is mindblowing. His editing skills are actually insane. Along with writing and producing his own music. Im glad u mentioned how good the production sound effects were in mood because one of my fav things about all his music is how layered the production is. Ian has created basically a whole universe, which entails exploring his bipolar disorder and his DID. mito is pronounced (my-toe) btw! There are two main 'characters' u see in all his mvs which are mito and mr insanity.

I would really recommend you to watch all of his MVs (especially 'Peanut Butter & Tears' and 'Nerves') because they are really interesting regardless if you understand them or not (I not always do) and also his Moodswings In To Order (MITO) album, it's really good (one of my fav albums ever). Not only writes and produces his own songs but also directs and edits his own videos (editing those seconds when he bursts into flames took him 4 hours... )It's his vision from the start to the finish. About the meaning of the videos... Well, I'll need to write a book here. And you reacted to two videos at once, so an extra long comment! lol Hopefully KZbin will let me post this one since they really deleted my previous account... Even if this one gets posted and you reply to me I may not be able to reply back. But I'll see everything! *Background:* Ian is making a storyline based on his life dealing with bipolar disorder type I and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). There are three "characters": Mito, Mr Insanity and the Hybrid. His first 2 albums focused on Mito while his most recent one 'Dear Insanity' focused on Mr Insanity and that's why they're so distinct. He's going to release an EP focused on the Hybrid in 1-2 months. He delayed it so he can make a bigger project. I'm going to talk here only about Mito and Mr Insanity since they're the ones shown in the videos you've seen. These aren't just characters, they are real people that have a mind of their own called "alters" (short for alternate state of consciousness) and that he coexists with. In DID there's more than one person living in the same body with different memories, voice tone, body language, beliefs, motives, etc. DID stems from severe and/or repeated early childhood trauma (particularly before age five). The child uses disassociation as a coping mechanism for this trauma, meaning that they unconciously create a "new person" that could take the trauma for them otherwise it would be unbearable. That way only one identity will take the trauma while the other(s) can forget and be able to carry on with their lives. Then the child's mind as they grow up can't fully integrate into one whole identity and instead it becomes multiple. A child struck by trauma is like a broken mirror and each fragment, each alter, becomes its own mirror and functions separately but all pieces together complete the whole mirror, their whole system (a person with DID may refer to themselves as a "system"). The cover of Ian’s first EP has his picture behind a shattered glass and the physical version of the same album has a broken mirror on the inside. Someone with DID only knows this mechanism to cope with trauma: to disassociate and become someone else. So they unconsciously switch between identities as they are exposed to stress and also more identities can be formed throughout their lives. Ian calls "The Other Side" the place where the whole story unfolds which actually represents his consciousness, where these alters exist. *Mito* is the "protector alter". He was that person created by the mind to deal with any traumas and to be the one who remembers them so Ian can forget. He is depicted as a fallen angel and is represented in MVs by wearing black, with a deep voice, missing an eye, and a ring with an eyeball. *Ian* is the prominent identity, the one who stays the longest in the body (called the "host"). In very stressful situations, Ian blacks out and Mito takes control to protect him. This means Mito is “fronting”. There is also “co-fronting” meaning more than one alter in control at the same time. Ian will then come back hours, days, or weeks later (the longest has been a month) not remembering anything that was said or done. Basically, his life has been lived and he doesn't know how. *Mr Insanity* is the manic highs and is represented in MVs by wearing colorful attire, clowny make up and butterfly is his symbol. Mania is a period of euphoria or high irritability, with increased drive and decreased sleep. *Miito Movie:* In the story, Mito is represented as a fallen angel. This is inspired by the fact that Mito has a lot of biblical knowledge that Ian doesn't have. He's religious and marks himself with a cross while Ian doesn't even go to church. In DID, different alters have different memory banks, so one alter could know something that the other doesn't. In some cases, alters may be able to speak a language that the others have no knowledge of. Mito was the first creation of a God known as the “Clown God” which is actually Mr Insanity. The “clown” aspect is inspired by the fact that Ian always considered himself a “class clown” since childhood. The God aspect relates to the fact that when someone is manic they can have a God-like complex. Mr Insanity then creates versions of himself by harnessing the powers of “The Other Side”. Mito being the first creation could be inspired by the fact that Mito was the first alter. He was created by the mind of child Ian to take all of the trauma that was the root of his DID. The intro song on Ian’s very first EP is called MITO so this links to being the first song and creation. At the beginning of “Seraph”, the narration says *"Where did I go wrong with you? Out of all my creations..."* It shows a flashback of all of his previous songs *"You were the epitome of all that is good. The utmost of my potential. You were my first"* and the hand stops at the box where it's written MITO. Mito eventually got too strong and became jealous of the other creations (of the other alters or of the other songs). He started resenting his creator Mr Insanity/Clown God. He then gets banished from heaven and as a consequence, he goes through a phase of betrayal, then love, and that love turns into fury: a transition that will change him permanently into the darkness/fallen angel that he is. Ian represents the descent of an angel by colors, going through white, red and then black - the official colors for Mito. White represents all of the pureness. Throughout this whole introduction, there are shots of him dressed in white. This is meant to symbolize how Mito used to be. Mito used to be a seraph, the highest order of an angel. Red means that he still holds “love” but it’s mixed with “fury” (the cover of this album is red). Pitch black is when the heart rots away from everything they love and darkness comes into full form. At the beginning narration, the deep voice is meant to represent Mito's voice replying. That's because in real life Mito can reach an octave that Ian can't (in DID different alters can have different voice tones). Mito replies *"And I'll make sure to be your last. You created me in your image. And now It's time to create mine in yours".* All of this is inspired by the fact that Mito in real life always wanted to be the only one and can’t accept Mr Insanity as another alter. Ian has said previously that Mito would often say "There's only me and you” or “You’re just creating a higher version of yourself but that’s you. Your real other self is Mito”. Finally, as the lyrics start *(“I set my wings on fire”)*, Mr Insanity takes off his coat revealing his powers, and the universe inside him, then banishes Mito. Mito swears to infest all of the other creations’. The first song “Seraph” represents Mito's fall from grace. After Mito’s betrayal and in hopes of stopping Mito’s evil force, his evil creation, Mr Insanity then makes another creation who is supposed to be his successor: Ian. After the birth of Ian, Mito is in search of him in order to destroy this successor. Overall The concept of this MV is Mito trying to infest this Ian (in DID terminology he’s trying to ‘front’). Ian gets kidnapped without knowing who kidnapped him and gets brought to a house. There’s voices that are trying to help him because they are aware that something is coming, that something being Mito. At the same time Ian is trying to numb these voices with medication. After the stabbing Mito succeeds and the switch happens, Ian turns into Mito. However Ian comes back later and starts running away being chased by Mito’s minions (the dancers in red) opens the door and sees something. We don't know what he saw. Continues ( Yes, continues...)

*Don't Go Insane* The protagonist of this album is Mr Insanity. This album is all about how Mr Insanity came to be and his journey into 'The Other Side'. Mr Insanity is usually chaotic and doesn't care about consequences and in the story there's a door that Mr Insanity's chaotic self is trying to open which represents the traumas. Mito being the protector won't let this happen since Ian isn't supposed to know anything about it. Ian since childhood usually lucid dreams and in these dreans there are a lot of doors. Going through the wrong door would turn the dream into a nightmare and that's what inspired the "door" analogy. The only way to get to “The Other Side” (his consciousness) is through lucid dreaming. The MVs for this album era are all connected. He released the videos in reverse, except for Peanut Butter & Tears. Storyline wise it is: Peanut Butter & Tears ==> Don't Go Insane ==> Don't Go Insane teaser ==> So I Danced Now for *'Dont Go insane'* at the beginning of the video, Ian is sitting at the desk writing a letter for his future self, Mr Insanity. While Ian is sitting, there's also a howl and he mentions 'wolves' at the lyrics ("Oh, bless my heart / When the wolves take me away"). ‘Wolves’ are a huge symbolism for him because of the werewolf transformation aspect that ties on with his DID switches. Here we see Mr Insanity develop. We see Ian/Mr Insanity’s journey venturing into "The Other Side" as he slowly turns into madness and going after the key that unlocks another door/trauma In this journey Mr Insanity is met by pink villagers which are essentially Mito's minions trying to stop him (notice how they only have one eye like Mito). Mito is represented by the black smoke. Ian doesn't even know he's taking the form of Mr Insanity. He doesn't know it himself but he's somehow feeling different. Every single time he goes through the doors he loses a bit of his sanity. He says to himself "I'm sane" and even so still loses grip on reality. 'Don't Go Insane', as the title suggests, is about trying to not go insane while simultaneously still losing your mind. In the story the most advanced version of Mr Insanity, when he succumbs to madness, is completely blind because he no longer needs to see. The universe is within himself. His body holds the universe. This is probably why at the end of this song, right before the bridge, he says "Can't see...". Ian said Mr Insanity’s final version has glitter all over his body and his two eyes are missing. That is why there is glitter when he takes off his coat back in ‘Seraph’. His presence is just completely not real and he has fallen to 'The Other Side'. There's an image from the Miito Movie at 1:33 at your video where we can see Mr Insanity completely blind (white eyes) with glitter all over his body, his full form. Paired with the phrase “Don’t Go Insane’ which is probably deliberate. About The Green guy, It isn't known yet his role, just that he is Mr Insanity's sidekick. Thank you If you managed to read all of this! To really appreciate him context is everything so I try to do my best to convey most of it.
