Well, technically, you did react to the DOOBIE Brothers! Oh, you could go deep on this. The Doobies even have a good (lesser known) album called "Brotherhood". And the Allman Brothers Band. Duane and Greg, n'est pas? Carpenters? Brother and sister. Ans there were, same era, the Righteous Brothers (who were NOT brothers) - want a vocal treat? Bobby Hatfield solo in 1965 - a 'best quality' video. In color, even. And Heart - sisters. Lots of siblings, really.

I know I'm yapping a lot. But, hey - I was nine at the time and this was my growing musical awareness. Lots of performances on television were lip-synched, badly. (Example: T-Rex doing "Bang-A-Gong"). Some were televised live (like this one) ONCE. You caught it, or you did not. Long before videotape! Only archives like this find the original film and restore it - sight and sound. It captures a moment in history, and that, gentlemen (and others in the audience) is how we time travel.

Their harmonies are so great because they are brothers . Their nasal cavities, vocal chords, jaws, heads, chest cavities, etc. are near-identical. Plus, they grew up learning the same word pronunciations, inflections, etc. They are almost clones, and we can hear it in their recordings.

They were really brothers. In 1960, Don (who sang the solos) was 23 and Phil was 21. Only siblings can create this close harmony. And the Everlys have hundreds of recordings for you lads to practice with. Try, "Til I Kissed You", "Kentucky", "Let It Be Me", and their first hit, "Bye Bye Love".

Your fellow countrymen, The Beatles, devoured the Everly Brothers records. The Beatles absorbed the Everly Brothers songwriting arrangements, their harmony structures. And even their Gibson J-200 guitars. The Everly Brothers influence was felt far and wide. Excellent video lads, thanks for sharing. RNB

Hi s c. I am pretty certain I once heard these 2 blokes say that not only are the English. They're from Liverpool to boot!! I'm a Yank whose been married to a Scottish lass from the Gorbals district of Glasgow (born and raised for 19 years before moving to the States) for 40 years next month. These lads don't sound Scottish to me. Though I may be 100% wrong. Cheers Mate, RNB

Bros React0151, The Everly Brother's, Don and Phil were a big influence on the Beatles. When the Everly's toured England John , Paul, George saw them in concert. Long before the Beatles were famous. If you find any real early Beatle performances ( 1963 ) you'll see 2 Beatle's share the one mike just the same way as Don and Phil did. they even stand the same. Cheers Chris Perry.

As a Gen Xer, I missed a lot of this music first time around, but when I was growing up we had a lot more radio stations playing the "Oldies" which incorporated these great hits from the 50s and 60s. And I loved it. So during the 80s my friends and I would go down to this great record store called Wax Trax Records on Lincoln in Chicago and buy the current music. But they had this great selection of 45s (single vinyl albums) of these old hits. And I just scarfed them up. It was great. I highly recommend the song Town Without Pity by Gene Pitney and of course the absolute classic, Runaway by Del Shannon. Absolute genius. But there are so many others. It's great! :)

Don was 23, on the right. Phil was 21, on the left. They were real brothers. HUGE in the 60s. Best harmonizing duo ever. They influenced Beatles, Bee Gees, Simon & Garfunkel and many others. They were in the first group to be inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame, that's how good they were. Listen to "Let It Be Me" and "Bye, Bye Love", 2 more huge hits by them.

The Everly Brothers (Don and Phil) had amazing harmony. You might also like their songs "Bye Bye Love" and "When Will I Be Loved?" ... Some trivia: Don Everly is the father of model Erin Everly ... who was the girlfriend (and later the wife) of Axl Rose, the lead singer of Guns N Roses. Axl was inspired by Erin to write the lyrics to the band's huge No. 1 hit "Sweet Child O' Mine." You have reacted to Alips Ba Ta's acoustic guitar version of the song. How about reacting to the original "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N Roses one day? It is a KILLER song! :-)

But as you say The Righteous Brothers aren't brothers, a black man just said they sounded like two unbelievably good black singers or Two Righteous Brothers in the slang of the day. The Everly Brothers are brothers and keep perfect harmonies even while bending all the notes which make those harmonies give you goosebumps. They also do sad folk story songs The teen tragedy songs popular of the day as well as fast pop songs. These to guys need to reproduce these songs The Royce Twins... /watch?v=xE7u_KF7i-Q They outperform the original artist.

Buddy Holly , ( Peggy Sue ) ( Oh Boy ) like Everly Brothers , oldie but goodie. Live version of( Oh Boy ) on Ed Sullivan Show is great. Also Live version of. (Peggy Sue ) on the Arthur Murray Dance Show was great. Both Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers, greatly influenced The Beatles. If you listen to very early Beatle songs, you can hear Exactly where they learned to get their harmonies, from the ( Everly's ). So closely related to ( Buddy Holly ) are some of their early songs, that if you replaced their own voices with Buddy's, the songs could be almost a carbon copy of what Buddy Holly originally started.

The Everly Brothers were a huge influence on acts as big as the Beatles. I’m pretty sure the band behind them is The Crickets, as in buddy holly and the crickets. Pretty sure Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens had perished in the plane crash not too long before this. The day the music died. The Everly Brothers eventually split up due to wanting solo careers. Either the 1980s or 1990s they finally reunited on a public television special. Look it up it’s fantastic.

1960 - Here's what it was like. Civil Rights Movement, early Vietnam War, JFK, and a huge expanding economy because this was still post-World War II. Oh, most everyone trusted any president to be honest with the American people. In some ways, it was a naive time before most of the riots and protesting. The music: Rock 'n Roll.

One of A-ha's contacts knew the guys from Everly Brothers, and they met by chance in a studio or something. Later on each of them got one of Everly Brothers' distinctive guitars as a thank you for the great cover (passing the song to new generations, I guess). Maybe you should do a reaction where you listen to both songs - both Everly Brothers version and the later version by A-ha? That would be great.
