GD has tons of word play in both languages, double and triple entendres, word bends, etc. I don't know if the reference was to Beyonce, I think it was more of a nod to his fandom and also BIGBANG. Much of the visuals from the video were references to his old videos: small car - also had small car in Crayon MV, subway scene - Michigo MV, etc. GD's dance is so unique, you can tell it's him dancing from a mile away - if its choreography he adds his own thing and his freestyle is super bendy and cool. He started training as a dancer at SM before he was 10 years old and didnt start rapping until he was around 13 years of age when he landed at YG entertainment. He sings ballad, produces, etc. He made K-pop what it is today. Known as the idol of idols.

In the subway he shows all the titles of his songs on his coming album. At the beginning of the performance video where the toilet is, on the wall he announces a world tour. GD is a very detailed artist, everything we see, hear has a meaning. Fanbase are the VIPs, I believe we are the first to have a name but I’m not sure, GD created the first lightstick called the BangBong which is a yellow crown, the crown is also tattooed on his arm. You did great describing the meaning of the song. On a personal level, it was BIGBANG that led me to SKZ. GD is Felix and Changbin’s favorite artist.

Hello 😊 I didn't know about the Felix and changbin favorite artists part😮 do you remember where is this from?
@sylvielebrun173314 күн бұрын
@ I don’t remember exactly where but it’s one of those videos that asks who their favourite artists are. I saw a couple of videos about it. I probably saw it on fan made videos about GD. Hyunjin also said on an SKZ video that he almost cried when he danced with Taeyang of BIGBANG on a couple of dance challenges.

I find it so interesting that us VIPs also seem to be STAY 😂😂 i thought i was the only one they just have the same swagger like you could tell me they trained them themselves and id believe you. Stray kids were definstely the light in a VIPs dark times.
@sylvielebrun17336 күн бұрын
@@RoxxyFly Oh you said that so well. I really tried looking for another group but nothing clicked for me until I discovered SKZ. 3Racha/GD, both love to experiment with genres, rap styles, beats, and both can make hard rock or the most beautiful melodies and catchy hooks. Each member of SKZ imo have a bit of GD in them (especially Hyunjin surprisingly). Not speaking Korean I can’t say about the lyrics, apparently GD’s lyrics have so many play on words, double-triple meaning that even Koreans have a hard time deciphering the meanings, I’m not sure if SKZ is at that level yet.
@RoxxyFly6 күн бұрын
@sylvielebrun1733 Skz as a whole arent on that level yet but changbin and han are definately getting there, theyre still got time to grow, i mean GD is not only king but also has an extra 10 years on them as well. A collaboration would be out of this world!!! Imagine 😭😭😭

GD is a lyrical and artistic genius. Everything he does has a meaning. Notice the word “Übermensch” he says in the beginning of the song. It’s a word created by Friedrich Nietzsche. It’s a philosophical concept of human transcendence out of societal boundaries. Friedrich is more detailed with it in his book Thus Spoke Zarathustra. To sum it up it’s about a man who tries teaching society about Übermensch but is outcasted, mocked and ridiculed. So he avoids the typical crowd to find like minded ppl like him. Look at the back of GDs suit in the first vid and his jacket in the dance vid. Notice he has the Ü but it’s designed to look like two people mirroring each other. Now notice how in the dance video he’s dancing in front of mirrors and with ppl that are dressed like him. THIS is how gds mind works. This just a small aspect of what fans figured out. There’s definitely more we’re missing. He really is on another level when it comes to artistry. There is no one like him.

I saw a great explanation of this song and want to share: There are lots of Korean wordplay, so some lines of lyrics might feel awkward, These are some clues that you can understand the song more. 88: GD's birthday is 18.08.1988, So he puts his own meaning on the Number 8. That's why he wrote so many 8s in his lyrics. You can see the Metro map on 2:03, it's a track-list of his up coming album, there are 8 tracks. The last line of lyrics ("Fly high"): The original Korean lyrics' pronunciation is "Pal Pal Nara" (Means fly high). There is a wordplay as well, 'Pal' is 8, same pronunciation, and 'Pal Pal' is kind of onomatopoeia, 'Nara' is Flying, so this line was translated flying high in English. And that's why the ending scene shows 8 8 (Pal Pal) and GD jumps (Flying) (Nara) In addition, he came back in 88 months since his last comeback. The meaning the wordplay of the lyric "Spot to rest, a Global Luxury": The original Korean Lyric is this, 누울 자리 글로벌 명품 "Nu ul Jari, Global Myong pum (Glo / bal myong pum)" In here, Glo means text, lyrics, writings, everything about word or text. Global is global, the exact English word, but here's the thing, Bal myong pum is Invention. So he connected two Korean words to one English word (Glo + bal). And Myong pum is luxury, the words share same pronunciation, so these are some wordplay using pronunciation of Korean and English. This is crazy wordplay. in my opinion, GD likened home("Spot to rest") to every goal such as social status, honor, his position in the field, and he invented his goals, and it's also luxury. The main hook "I don't give a shh, Laughing end 'Money' Donating 'millions' Grin": last year, GD was suddenly investigated for drug scandal. During the investigation, every single time he attended to police station, he said "I don't care because I never drugged." At the result, the truth is GD was innocent, at the photo-line in front of the police station, he laughed. After the scandal, he recognized that the risk of drugs in Korean society, He founded a foundation for drug eradication, he donated KRW ₩ 300 million (about USD $ 218,828). So this story is where the lyrics came from. Meaning of "Power Abuse questioned Tolerance Natural Disasters Unavoidable Circumstances" During the drug investigation, journalists raised him a suspicion of Power abuse for having Drugs, at the same time, Korean News channels delivered that rumor without fact-check. However after investigation, he was innocent, and he was possible to accuse those News channels, but he was tolerant to them, he announced he will not get a court. This is the story of "Power abused questioned Tolerance" (Natural translation is like "I was tolerant when I was questioned Power Abuse"). Natural Disasters (천재지변: Chun Jae Ji Byun) = (천재, 지병: Chun Jae,[Genius] Ji Byoung[Chronic illness]) same pronunciation wordplay. Genius always has Chronic illness, and it's unavoidable circumstances (irresistible force). Meaning of "Forcefully criticize Spread a meme Talk blah blah shout out": During the investigation of drug, some news channels, fake news KZbinrs, and social media delivered GD's old interviews. In the interviews, he looked like he was addicted to drugs, because he speaks slowly, suddenly smiles, unnatural facial describing and his eyes. And these became memes and many publics criticized him. It was such a baseless criticism. People talked behind his back, but when after he finished the investigation, suddenly many people changed their attitudes, shout out him as usual like they haven't betrayed him at all. This story is where the lyrics came from.

I'm glad to have discovered you. And I don't mind your kind of pausing because you're a true reactor. You share your thoughts, your interpretation about the song and the MV rather than just pause and look at the camera to say "What?? No way!" That's what's annoying. In another reactor's video, she interpreted that caution room to be the interrogation room which makes sense. BUT yours about elevator vibe with me more cause of the size of it and that's what my instincts tell me too. Hope to see you again for the upcoming GD song releases, and even BIGBANG!

Real true beat bop - Hip Hop rap - old school which I have really missed.............. No one raps like GD. There are another reactors who gave a huge overview on the wordplay it was epict. Youy should watch it JaZ and Shay. And so many more people who saw nuances throughout and the scenes were all about GD and BIG Band referances also - and the part about the Drug scandel. @xiba87032 күн бұрын
well, since you don't know much about him, I want to tell you about him because he's not just any regular idol but has an insane backstory (it'll get deep :/ ) GD also known as the only true king of kpop is to this day "the idol of idols", half of the industry wanted to become kpop idols because of him and he's still the most well-respected artist in korea, he even can use slurs which are highly forbidden in korean media and diss anyone even his own company and for celebrities like others would loose their career over those things but he wasn't even close to. as someone who was already a kpop fan at his biggest time: the power he held over the industry was unmatched and nowhere even close to be comparable to todays kpop times where many artists are around equially big and influencial ect. he was THE IT CELEBRITY and ANYONE was watching any step of him because he was just so impactful. EVERYTHING he did, was copied by anyone in the industry, any fashion trend, any concept, any music ect became the blueprint to kpop... he's a TRUE ARTIST, a MASTERMIND in originality and not just an idol that just does what others tell & give them.. he wrote&composed most of bigbangs and his own major hits, he created lightsticks, set the trend for the changing/colorful haircolors for idols, was the first one that broke the gender norms and opened the way for other idols to that (skirts, feminine clothes in general, high fashion, heavier makeup ect. for men), became the beauty ideal, created a fashion brand with his designs, the "airport fashion" thing which is a big thing in the industry, was the first korean/kpop brand ambassador ever, created the popular finger heart that is used everywhere and so on.. he was the only idol to ever have such a huge impact on forming the kpop genre to what it is nowdays.. kpop wouldn't even be close to what it is now without him. all that being said, you'd think with all these insane achievements, talent and influence he has, he must've lived an easy life but this sadly couldn't be further from the truth... he started being a trainee at the age of just 8 years under SM ent. and after almost 5 years there he switched to YG ent. where he had to clean the floors for their artists while still being a trainee with insane training schedules, their trainee dorms and practice rooms were in an horrible condition, he had barely anything to eat because the company barely gave them any money to even buy food... the chances of having success back then weren't like todays either, where, when you're under a decent company you'll have success either way, no. kpop wasn't that established yet so he had to risk anything for his dream to become an artist... when he then got to debut after a ton of hard work with Bigbang in 2006, after 10 years of training, they rose to fame within around 4 years after debut mostly thanks to his great songs. things were going great, he wrote hit after hit and he also started his solo career, technically he became what he always wanted, but that wasn't enough anymore to fill up the emptiness inside him, that the missed out childhood, constant pressure he had to face throughout his life... the damage was already done and also thanks to many haters and media doing anything trying to find any minor mistake he ended up having severe depressions and anxiety, he fainted several times on stage, hyperventilated ect. also a lot thanks to many haters and media doing anything trying to find any minor mistake... he fell super deep that even their CEO had to personally take matter into his own hands trying to help GD even though mental health was ALWAYS ignored and talked down during those times, I think this shows how severe it was.. all the "super cool rapper" image was just on surface but you can see him expressing his hard times through all of the lyrics of his solo songs if you take a deeper look, especially in the kwon ji-yong album(for example the two-facedness of the "fame")... he had NO ONE, not even his family, he was literally alone, he couldn't find any friends because they were either just too intimidated by him to be friends because he was so big as a celebrity or only wanted to get any information out of him to sell it to the media who were waiting all day for that.. he could trust nobody, and it got even worse when he had to enlist in the military, he just wanted to find genuine friends, he even let some of them use his black card ect but all he got was people who tried to get and sell any informations of him, he was like a statue in a museum, completely dehumanized.. he was getting stared at all day, they camped in the showers to see him naked, find any tattoos he has, find any location of moles or scars of him ect. to sell it to the media and public... even his underwear and personal items got stolen and sold.. it was that bad that they had to seperate him from the rest, which NEVER happens in the korean military because they don't make any exceptions for anyone there, that's how bad it was.. he went through hell all the time throughout his career, which also was the reason he took a 7 year hiatus because he just wasn't able to come back to the public.. only over the last 1-2 years we could finally see him slowly healing from all things society did to a boy who's only dream it was to self-express himself through music, performance and fashion. but I think his past is even more the reason, why idols to look up to him, because even if they just initially became his fans because of his art and influence, they also sooner or later ended up admiring/relating to him for how he was able to survive all that as a human being and also still not losing his identity and values as an artist and staying grounded. Now after all that I want to recommend you to check out "Coup D'etat"(I promise you, you'll LOVE IT), you will see him in a new light now.
