For me, Yuqi isn't just a kpop idol, she's a rockstar, an amazing artist who deserves all the recognition of the world. She's my favorite.

I think the main reason Yuqi's solo stuff is mostly English is because she has a big following in China for obvious reasons and China has a history of banning Korean music whenever tensions between the two countries are high. So releasing English music is a smart way to avoid any issues with that. Also yeah she plays guitar for real

She's also said that, as English is her second language and Korean her third, she feels more confident writing in English. Also, of the 4 seen here, Yuqi wrote Giant and Freak

there do nothing with the the banned problem at all，it's like Rose only English too(Jennies new solo also just english, also Lisas too)，it's more international for everyone ，that's it，cause if only the banned issue she can also release the Chinese version like Exos Lay does，and other thing its actually seems China let the banned issues get away lately ！cause a lots new Korean movie star and idols performances in China lately .

@@PP-js1qx the difference is that Yuqi is the only idol on your list that promoted almost exclusively in China. The blackpink girls sing in English for western radio play but Giant and Bonnie and Clyde weren't marketed internationally, they were specifically focused on the Chinese market.

It doesn’t matter, because even there are Korean lyrics, when she had to perform in china shows there would be a translated part in Chinese, the same happens with giant , it has a version in Chinese even if it a English song

@@yuzhou8033only parts of her songs are translated into chinese, they're still mostly english. writing in english is the smartest way for yuqi since she will be promoting her song in both korea and china. if her songs are written in korean, she'll probably have to release a chinese version (her mother tongue) and japanese version (their second active market), not to mention an english version if she were gonna promote internationally. plus she's more confident in english as it's her second language. as for lay, not everyone solo kpop artist has a strong enough fanbase to support like him, especially when you look at the time when lay started solo (strong fanbase, exo was the top boy band from big3, extremely active in china as half of the group were chinese - lay, kris, luhan, tao) and when yuqi started solo (newrise girlgroup, low personal regconition except soyeon, forming fanbase). in case of rosé, eventhough she is korean, she was borned and raised in australia, she found it more comfortable writing in english, and blackpink has more international fans in comparison.

Yuqi's solo music is amazing. I personally really love her rockish sound. "Bonnie and Clyde" is one of my all time favorite songs. You can clearly hear that she has her own style. And her deep voice just really adds a lot of character to her music. Miyeon is my bias, so this time I'm gonna suggest checking out her song "Drive". It's really good and completely different to Yuqi's music as it's very bright. But I'll think you'll like it. And of course Soyeon has a lot of solo music out, so you should check her out as well.

Freak is currently my favorite song. Yuqi is my ultimate bias, so i love everything she does. I love the concept of Freak. im guessing that Yuqi is a fan of horror movies, and had the idea to include a bunch of references in the video, like Scream, Saw, The Shining, The Ring, The Grudge, Poltergeist. but there is also an ET reference, and Love, Actually reference (the posters that Ghostface is holding) the entire video was just so much fun to watch, and felt like Yuqi had a blast making it i would recommend checking out the rest of the songs from Yuqi's solo album, titled Yuq1, especially her duet with Minnie

For Bonnie and Clyde, you're right she is the both character and she love both herself. Please see her solo performance in FAN SHOWCASE and there are many videos performance and more MV for B-side, 'On Clap', 'Red Rover' 'Everytime' that she wrote about her friendship with Minnie. 'Could it be' story line and MV behind and 'Freak' MV behind.

Could it be and Freak are from Yuqi's newest album, there are 3 more videos from it - to 'On clap', 'Red rover' and 'Everytime', I recommend to check it out and the whole album! Songs are in very different styles so it's really interesting

I feel like working on her album made her genuinely happy. The behind the scenes of the shooting of Freak made it pretty clear that she was having so much fun.

Most of her main songs are in English.Mainly because of the differences between countries.English songs are the best choice.You can watch her cover video to get to know Yuqi's voice better.

Soooooooo glad you reacted to Yuqi! She’s so talented. Bonnie & Clyde is one of my fave songs ever, though Freak & Could It Be (& even Giant) are all amazing too. You def need to react to Soyeon’s songs, especially Is This Bad B**** Number with BIBI & Lee JY. Great réaction

I never got into G-idle, and every time I sampled their music it just didn't impress me - just not my style. But when I saw the thumbnail for Could It Be I clicked out of curiosity mostly because of hearing the name Yuqi on a lot of channels I watch, not even knowing she was a member of G-idle. I was blown away by her voice, and the music was amazing (especially that base line). I ended up buying her mini album. Update - I just bought the download for Bonnie and Clyde and Giant after watching your video.

bro i went to a kpop folk highschool here in norway this year and we legit got the producer of freak to show us the whole song months before it came out. like before she had even recorded the song herself. it was another woman singing the song and a lot of curse words have been cut out since then lolll

also becoz she had schedules in china and due to covid she couldn't go back and forth to promote in korea so she only performed a few times in china..

It's not like I only react to the MVs. I usually just start with the MVs and then move on to the B-sides. With groups like (G)I-DLE, it can take a long time to watch all the MV's.
