Nice reaction! I have never heard of this band but it's kind of taking me back to middle school/high school emo music lol. I enjoyed it though, will have to take a closer look. This is the kind of thing I'd like to have on while cleaning the house... tend to leave the heavier stuff for my earbuds since the hubby doesn't listen to that much 😜 thanks for putting on my radar

Great analysis. Agree that they are young. Maybe their sound will mature eventually. I wouldn't put them on my playlist yet, but I think their future content may have potential. I'm sure you've got it on your list somewhere, but if not I'd love it if you did Ghost River by Nightwish (Wacken 2013). It's one of their less technical songs, much more straightforward than most, but Marco really shines and along with Storytime it's probably my favourite.

I know your list of J-metal girl groups is probably getting long, and I have a few requests in there, but I want to add one more, for historical relevance. The Japanese hard-rock/metal scene was initially triggered by a series of Japanese tours in the early 1970's by Deep Purple, and some exposure to Black Sabbath. By 1980, Japan had an active hard-rock scene and the beginnings of a metal scene. Interestingly, despite, or perhaps because of, the overt sexism of Japanese culture, a lot of the earliest, hardest groups were all-girl bands. The one that had the biggest impact was Show-Ya, founded in 1981 (before Metallica), with their line-up taking its current form in 1983. That line-up are still recording and touring today (there was a brief period in the 1990's when they had a different lead singer). They also sponsor an annual rock festival for women artists, where many of today's best bands got early exposure. They are my heroes, in a way, and deserve enormously more recognition than they get in the West. Here is my favorite song of theirs, performed in 2012 (essentially a 30th anniversary concert; earlier videos are not as good quality). The title means "I Am The Storm" and its message is basically "Are you man enough to be with me?" kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXvCZnqsaNt5oLM I hope you'll do this before getting too deep into the J-metal vortex.

Very familiar style, later emo stuff. Breaking Benjamin, three days grace, trapt, hoobastank, I’m forgetting 2 or a hundred. But that was a good performance, and spacey engulfing soundscape. Def derivative, but of the good “singalong like you mean it” stuff I was originally here for the Japanese set. I probably put a Doll$boxx request, because I’ve convinced myself BandMaid is modeled after one of their videos. But here’s my favorite Doll$Boxx video that’s musically more in this direction. Still in Japanese, but I feel like this summary helps: drummer sings in English “Dominated the ancient world wars, his name is Dragonet” about the last dragon banished to cry blood from the stars forever kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHmXhXivf9yjo5Y

@@ChaseCarneson Doll$Boxx is a great suggestion from @tim Gove. This is one of their newer ones. They are a collaborative project between Gacharic Spin (also worth checking out) and Fuki, the lead vocalist for several major Japanese groups including Lightbringer and Unlucky Morpheus. You could get completely lost in the Japanese metal and technical rock scene.

From my dreadfully advanced age, I see this band as VERY young. Let's give them some room to run and acquire some nicks and dings, a little maturity. They need a lot of LIVE work, with audience interaction. They need to get "dirty".
