When he was in his prime he was W-I-L-D. He was an extremely controversial person. But no one could take away from him his fantastic piano skills and his showmanship. Thanks for reacting to this. 👏👏

Especially controversial because he is Jimmy Swaggert’s first cousin as well as Micky Gilley. They all 3 grew up together and were taught to play the piano by their grandmother.

Jerry Lee in the 1950s was an absolute wild man performer. Watching him perform it in a live 50s version is a much more animated experience than even this. Jerry Lee was also first cousins with televangelist Jimmy Swaggart and country singer and nightclub owner Mickey Gilley.

Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the more flamboyant & wilder rock & roll singers of the time in the 50's-60's. He was nicknamed "The Killer". His piano playing & showmanship were legendary. He had a lot of hits such as "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On", "Breathless", "High School Confidential", "What'd I Say", "Wild One", "Another Place, Another Time" etc. His career faltered for a time when he married his 13-year-old cousin. We recently lost this legend.

He was the greatest Rock n Roll performer ever! I saw Little Richard 3 times and he was gfeat.But im telling you NoOne evef Rock And rolled like him. For pure Rock n Roll he was the best . They had to take an intermission everytime he finished playing. Jerry Lee Lewis didn't just pound tbe piano he put on a show doing it.

This was good, but to really understand him, you should find an old black & white performance when he was young. You'd be amazed!!

Many don't know that a piano is a percussion instrument (as the mallets strike the strings). But, Jerry Lee got it!

The 1st guitar player was Elvis's guitar player James Burton. The other was the lead player from Queen. They all love Jerry Lee.

Jerry Lee was an extremely talented, wild, and crazy guy. He did what he wanted regardless of consequences. He married his 13 year old cousin and once when angry with Elvis, he crashed his car through the gates of Elvis’s Graceland. He set firs to his piano while on stage performing once. But he could play a piano with his eyes blindfolded and one hand tied behind his back.

According to the movie great balls of fire he wanted to finish on stage last with opening Chuck Berry so he set the piano on fire

You really need to see Jaylee Lewis, when he was in prime! When he was born Elvis on tour! Him Elvis me, the king and many other famous artists, and Johnny Cash we’re on an original record. Label called Sun records! And send records would send them all out, on tour together! Now, imagine seeing that lineup! Anyway, you said you wanted more life out of the performance, did you have to see a young Jerry Lee Lewis! Energy was off the charts! He would play the piano like you never seen before, including with his feet and like a lot of guitarists, he would play the piano behind his back! It really is crazy and definitely worth checking out! Type in the search bar, Jerry lee Lewis, great balls of fire 1950s or something along those lines. I tell you now, you won’t regret it you won’t regret it!

I wanted to play the piano as a kid and took lessons. I did find it challenging to play certain kinds of songs because just like you said - it feels like you're playing with both sides of your brain.
@katrinacash6393 Жыл бұрын
In old black and white footage when he was younger he even played the piano with his feet! LOL This is a performance from 1957 on the Steve Allen Show. He plays "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and he's absolutely wild and on fire! Video Here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKiahHV8Yphoe9U
