Yes they are really close they have known each other for about 10 years. They met each other really young when they were trainees so their bond is really strong.

I'm glad you noticed about the dynamics of their personality and the energy of the group. Seventeen is a family, they've mentioned and showed it a lot of times. Thanks for reacting.

Yes sometimes they change the units. They hold special concerts where they exchange unit songs. For example Hip Hop Unit sings Vocal Unit songs and Performance Unit raps in hiphop units songs. They all trained for years so they all can rap sing and dance

Yes! Maknae is the youngest member of a group. Dino is a 99'er. The others are from 95 - 98

Btw in these clips (which are from their variety shows) they all having fun but things weren’t always like this. They WORKED SO HARD to get where they are now. They trained for years and their label was a small company. But now they’re one of the most famous asian artists.

I will always say it the units are just a formality lmaooo they can do it all And also they exchange unit songs! in a special concert/event, is a tradition of them, is named Caratland is a Fanmeeting they do it every year, this years Caratland was this past August The disagreements are normal but Scoups (the leader) has said that there’s a lot of communication between them they held meetings and ofc talk in therms of music, choreo not just between them but with the company, producers, dance crews, choreographers, and with music I think they are very free, you know, other members have produce, composed, wrote, choreographed songs not only one person, they all take part but Woozi being the main with Bumzu another Pledis Singer/Producer that’s been working with them since pre-debut, he’s the one talking about Woozi producing in his part (for example Flower that is fully choreographed by Dino) and continuing with just them, if the group is really divided for a decision I have watched that they always take a decision that’s right in the middle, a simple recent example was during the Attacca comeback show (recent album) for the performance of Crush they were divided to use hats or not bc it could cover the facial expressions, the decision? Use them and at one point in the performance take them off… as simple as that or deciding they tittle track for and album, hell they even did one for deciding the intro and outro of their Variety Show (Going Seventeen), just showing the relationship between them and creative process for 13 members, and I think is one of the keys as to how they have survived the 7 years curse making them the largest group to do it they even re-signed contract early all 13 of them, is a strong bond

Seventeen always steps out of their own units and in Caratland Concerts they always have a Reverse Unit Segment wherein the Vocal unit dances perf team's songs or raps hiphop team's songs, same with perf and hiphop unit. For the performance unit, I'd recommend watching their 2021 rendition of their song "Lilili Yabbay" in the Rolling Stone Channel. That will remain forever iconic for us carats, i still haven't gotten over it.

14:05 they didn't know each other before they were at pledis, but their time at pledis predebut ranged from 6 years to 18 months, so they grew really close as some of them have known each other for over a decade at this point!

their ages range from 26 to 22 currently and 20 to 16 at debut in May 2015
@aliciapark62413 жыл бұрын
Actually they're not that young. He said lets assume everyone is 2000 so if you born in 1997 it's -3. He was trying to calculate the sum of the birth years. There are members born in 1995

In kpop they are evaluated based on their strengths while they are in training. Once they Debut this unit serves as a general guide in distributing parts during a performance but this set units can change based on how one member will progress. In seventeens case this unit are the once incharge with the elements of their performance and concept of the overall production.
@gracyosborn80132 жыл бұрын
7:47 while the units are set. The units don't have full control over their section. The entire group collaborates to create every aspect of the song. They all come up with lyrics, beats, and choreo. That being said. The leaders of each group, Woozi (vocal), S.coups (hip-hop), and Hoshi (performance) come up with the majority of their areas of expertise. They all value the opinion of the group members. I'm pretty sure they do majority rules if they have a disagreement. If I'm being honest I've never seen SVT go against Woozi's judgement before.

The THANKS choreo was in 2018, so def before covid. Like he said, many people in Asia already had a habit of wearing masks due to high pollution/fine dust in the big cities. Also, idols often wore them if they had to go out in public for some privacy.
@galuhhasanah86983 жыл бұрын
thank you for your reaction, i just want to add that they said basically the unit is not a boundaries between what can they do and they usually change their role to sometimes. The vocal unit can dance even rap, the hiphop unit can sing and dance, the performance unit can sing and rap too so basically they all allrounder haha
@aliciapark62413 жыл бұрын
Members born in 1995-1999. younger member is 22 years old and older 26.
@sallyseashelly88213 жыл бұрын
7:14 Yeah those are set units. A lot of the members were considered for other units too because they're all just somehow that talented. For example Hoshi was almost in the vocal unit instead and Woozi was almost in the performance unit instead. But Woozi had a bigger interest in production and Hoshi had a bigger interest in choreographing.
@sallyseashelly88213 жыл бұрын
43:35 Yeah the maknae is the youngest of a group. Just any kind of group as far as I know. Even if you're just the youngest person in the room for a moment, you are the maknae. It's for any gender too. They didn't account for non binary people when they first made the language so what you call an older sibling is different for the gender of the sibling and the person saying the word. If you're a boy you call your older brother "Hyung" If you're a girl you call your older brother "Oppa" If you're a boy you call your older sister "Noona" If you're a girl you call your older sister "Eonni/Unnie" however you wanna spell it. Those are pronounced the same, but I've seen both of those Romanized spellings for the same word
@sallyseashelly88213 жыл бұрын
6:06 from what I know, in East Asian countries they've always just worn masks out of the house if they were sick. I know Korea also has a lot fine dust and it affects the air quality sometimes so they wear masks for that too. That dance practice was in 2018 so they were probably just used to the masks even then.
@jeonghancontent3 жыл бұрын
Well in caratland they change and perform songs from the other units. Or they make groups with members from each unit. You can find the vocal unit rapping, the hip hop unit slaying vocals and performance and the performance unit singing and rapping
@wenpluswenis172 жыл бұрын
yeah, if you look at seventeen, they're all really chill with each other. The only reason why they were spilt into units was because 1) it was easier to keep track of them if some staff were assigned to watch over 4-5 of them at once [😂] & 2) it helped each member get better at their certain skill. But as they've evolved as people and artists, these lines have started to blurred as they're all pretty well rounded. To be honest, performance and hip hop unit don't really care that much, but vocal unit like to brag and they make banter with the other units bc they claim that vocal unit is the best 🤣 but its all in good fun and never too serious and they didn't know each other prior to getting into pledis entertainment, but for most of them, they've known each other for about a decade now (since like 2010-2014 is the timeframe of when they met). so although none of them were like childhood friends, if you take into account that they've lived with each other for about 10 years now, and they were poor together (misery loves company lol), they've gotten a lot of time to get to know each other. they even said on many occasions that they don't have a perfect friendship, but they always try to be sensitive to each other and they set a lot of boundaries which is why their friendship is so strong. it's one made out of respect, understanding, empathy, and communication. and with 13 members, its a lot of communication, but they've made it work. Not to mention that pre-debut, they used to love to goof off with each other and try everything they could to avoid actually training 🤣🤣 so most of that became bonding time with each other, just cute dumb stuff kids would always do. things like going to the connivence store the next town over, and then take the bus with the longest route back home, just so they could talk to each other longer. its really endearing to hear them talk about these things, so you should definitely see it sometime

Oh and the ones they’re talking about money was a part of the game for one of their show’s episode. I mean that was a game not their real earnings :D
@splashsong2 жыл бұрын
most idol groups start training/living together at least half a year before their debut day, and most of them have lived together for years before that as companies put trainees they plan to debut together WAY ahead of time / trainees in the same recruitment and debut cycles will typically live together too. Most idols live in company dorms together (ease of accessing other company facilities, eating and training together, schedule management, etc) and don't start moving out until 2-3 years later when they have money. (the company pays for their dorms and often their food and other living necessities as well in the early days) It's rare in the industry that idols would have known each other beforehand, but because of the training period, it's also rare that idols would be unfamiliar with their members unless they've had a really short training time. In the case of seventeen, they were training (and a lot of them were living in dorms) for 4-5 years prior to debut, so they're really close with everyone.

I don’t know if someone has says this but I feel like it’s necessary although it’s nice pledis let them have control over their music I feel (and this might only be me and my carat friends opinions) that in a way it wasn’t a choice for them. They debuted when pledis was bankrupt meaning they had to purchase their own equipment and they had to choreograph their own dances. Pledis even pushed back their debut by two years, they worked hard from the start and I think they show you really can come from nothing!

This guide kind of made it seem like Vernon is only Korean-American (as opposed to just American) just because he moved to Korea when he was 5. While that is true, he is also ethnically half-Korean; his father's side is Korea. So it is also his culture and heritage, he's not just saying he's Korean because he lives there. Just to clear that up.
