Dave had just gotten totally sober and he told the band members, noone could ever have any booze or drugs at any time on tour. No cigarettes either. They were touring with Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies and Testament. Awesome backstage stuff, and some great live performances. Also some warmp up/rehearsals of songs, and some are just amazing. If you haven't seen it, it's called "Megadeth: From The Vault". ( watch?v=xpyTLDMhQ98 ) There are like 9 Volumes (different places), about 2 hours each.

First lesson in listening to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, which is, never pause during the guitar solo. *EVER.* That should be a *Golden rule!* 2, expect the unexpected. Holy wars is one of those songs that makes a statement, saying "let's skip the BS and get *straight to the point."* Fun fact: part of the title of the song is also based on Marvel comics character *the Punisher.* Thus, "the punishment due." More Megadeth please. Holy wars is just a *TASTE* of their awesomeness. Also, be sure to give their frontman Dave Mustsine a shout out for winning his battle against throat cancer. He announced it in one of their shows, saying he is 100% cancer free. The crowd went wild over the happy news 😎

The song was actually written in 1990 during the Persian Gulf war. It's just that the video was uploaded to KZbin in 2009. And yes they're still together and still tour, just not as often because Dave has had a long run of throat problems.

I saw Megadeth in concert as recently as two years ago. I know that Dave has had a battle with throat cancer since then, but I am pretty sure he recovered, and has not given up on the band.

When it comes to heavy metal music rules regarding how to write a song Megadeth re-writes them because they can! This is the band since I started going to shows in the mid 90s that I've seen the most. Any time they're in my area I see them no questions asked. I walk out of those shows with my mind blown ever single time. The metal gymnastics and various ways they can take a song starting one way and finish it another are second to none!

They still doing it. New drummer and lead guitarist but they were due to release their 16th studio album in 2019 but Dave got cancer. He beat cancer just in time to have half a warm up tour before Covid shut it down. Soon as it's clear, there'll be new Megadeth.

The Dave Mustaine story is basically.. he was the original Metallica lead guitarist, they kicked him like right before they went in to the studio to record their first album because when he got drunk he would get very angry and violent. They picked up Kirk Hammett and he had only days to learn the songs before recording the Kill 'Em All album. Dave started Megadeth, and their first album has an original version of Metallica's Four Horsemen called The Mechanix. Same music different lyrics, Mechanix is about a car mechanic. Both are very good bands, but obviously Metallica made it a lot bigger than Megadeth. As far as musical talent, both are top tier metal bands. They are 2 of the "Big 4" of 80's thrash metal with Slayer and Anthrax.
