This live performance on the Andy Williams show was sheer perfection. He sang it effortless and smooth He owns this song.Many before him and after him have done this song but no one will ever do this song like Bobby Hatfield. So many fell in love to this song and with him. HIS voice is from the heavens above.

Lovely reaction! 😊 This was a solo piece for the amazing Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers. His stunning voice is timeless and haunting, leaving many of us in awe still. Sadly he passed away in 2003 at the age 63. ☹

CAN YOU BELIEVE A PERFORMANCE LIKE THIS FROM BOBBY HATFIELD BACK IN 1965. TRULY A MAN WITH A GOD GIVEN VOICE - SO ANGELIC. I HAVE HEARD SO MANY VERSIONS INCL ELVIS, NEIL DIAMOND, ENGEL HUMPERDINCK & OTHERS, BUT BOBBY SUNG THIS SONG THE BEST - PERIOD . HE TRULY OWNS THIS SONG. TAKE CARE JOAN AND THANKS FOR YOUR REACTION

First of all, there are two Righteous Brothers....Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. They got the name for their group because when they would perform for military members, the black guys would yell out...."You're righteous BROTHER!" And Bobby sang this back in the day, live, and just imagine.....NO auto tune. Pure talent. PURE TALENT!!!!! The musicians today can in no way compete with this.....

Bobby was only 25 when he sang this. Apparently his mum was in the audience that night, so he was a bit nervous

It was for her, plus he knew that he nailed the song. He had mentioned to Bill (Medley) earlier that the acoustics were so good that he wanted to change the ending, finishing on a high note. Medley advised against it but Bobby did it anyway blessing the world with one of the single most beautiful solo performances of all time.

Bill & Bobby flipped a coin to see who would perform this song. Bill said afterwards that he was glad he lost the toss because he could not have done it as well as Bobby. Side note: Bobby flawlessly hit 20 different notes (almost 2 octaves) in this song. This was before Auto-Tune so this was pure raw talent!

Thank you for allowing the song to finish before commenting; starting and stopping really does tear up the flow and momentum of the piece. I would also like you to listen to the official video of Pentatonix’s, Sound of Silence. They use only there voices(no instruments) to make the sounds that come out of their mouths; you won’t be sorry.

In the over 100 reviewers' videos that I've watched in the past month, I cannot believe not one reviewer has shed a tear!!! This song is so emotional, the first several notes turn on my waterworks and sniffing. There certainly have been many raised eyebrows, swaying back-n-forth, smiling, touching/stroking of hair, furrowed foreheads, and wide-open eyes at various points of the song, still no tears, surprisingly. To each their own, for sure, but I'm a sucker for this song, especially this version.

Your reaction is typical of most women when they first hear this great classic. Bobby Hatfield is the talented performer who sang this wonderful love song. I believe you would greatly enjoy many of his solos--all on You Tube. You will experience the unmatched sides of his performances. These songs are a few I will mention. Ebb Tide, Somewhere, Only You, I Believe, He, I need a Girl, and Summertime. There are more and all worth checking out. Bobby's partner in this duo is Bill Medley. They sang great songs together, but both did solos. Enjoy !!! Cathy

Great song, great reaction! I would like to suggest an American a cappella group, Home Free. They have a catalogue of over 135 original and cover songs. My footsteps suggestion would be Man Of Constant sorrow to start. Then listen to How Great Thou Art. Home Free has a very large following of loyal fans (called Home Fries), and reacting to them will lead to subscribers. Good luck on your channel. ✌️😎

The version that was in the movie Ghost WAS sung by the Righteous Brothers, as well, but it was a re-recording.

THE DECISION WAS MADE FOR THIS SONG TO BE SUNG AS A SOLO PERFORMANCE AND TIME PROVED THIS TO BE CORRECT DECISION. BOBBY HATFIELD HAD A GREATER VOCAL RANGE THAN BILL MEDLEY. AND HE SUNG IT SOFTLY, SEETLY, SMOOTHLY, SENSUALLY AND WITH PASSION AND IT GRABBED YOUR SOUL AND WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. THIS SONG WAS ICONIC AND IT WAS IN THE FAMOUS FILM "GHOST" STARRING PATRICK SWAZYE AND DEMI MOORE. THE FILM AND THIS SONG WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER LASTLY, BOBBY HAD "MOVIE STAR" GOOD LOOKS AND ALONG WITH HIS GREAT VOICE WAS ATTRACTIVE TO GIRLS THEN AND NOW. The quintessential love song. Many have covered it but no one can match the late great Bobby Hatfield. I was a teen aged when this was performed and he did it live and with his parents in the audience. What a moment it must of been for them. If you would like some others try “Soul and Inspiration”You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” Rock and Roll Heaven” and another great solo by Bobby Hatfield that doesn’t get the credit it deserves “Ebb Tide”. New subscriber and thank you for playing it.

Ok, so, this was back in 1965 on The Andy Williams Show, and both members of the Righteous Brothers - Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield - were there and were being interviewed. When they were asked to perform this song, they decided that ONE of them would sing it, as a solo, rather than both. In the end, it was Bobby Hatfield who was the one that sang it.
@robhaunui33433 жыл бұрын
No they didn't decide on the spot only one would sing this - it was always Bobbys "song" and it was always gonna be a solo performance. Both Bill and Bobby sang two more numbers on the show (one with Andy Williams).

You are definitely born in the wrong generation from your reaction. You are from the bobbysoxer of the 1950/1960 generation. They always wore their emotions on their sleeve. Many people thought they overreacted, but the truth was you knew how they felt. Your reaction is quite fitting.
