The Big O: literally, it's "japanese/anime batman" (batman+mecha) + deep post-apocalyptic sci-fi, laughs it's really really good though, it's a deep sci-fi, and even the mecha stuff/battles are really cool too basically summary: most of the world and humanity/civilization, was destroyed by humanity, in a war, using an army of "Megadeuces" ("Big O's"), a very powerful type/version of mecha specifically (as there's some other types/versions of mecha), and what's left of humanity, tries to live as "normally" as possible in their few cities that remain, however, strangely, most of humanity has lost their memories, and so, they only do what they're able to remember, such a memory of knowledge of whatever skill or job/profession... the story follows one such human, Roger Smith, who acts as a "negotiator", basically someone who will try to handle any problem that someone might have, and whom has access and control (memory of operating/using) to a Big O (megadeuce), and he's got a "butler" too, who takes cares of him and helps him, exactly like with batman, with both of them wearing black (it's a requirement of Roger's, laughs), but there's a lot more going in, as you slowly learn the truth through Roger Smith and the events involving him in his own city, aptly known as "the city of amnesia", and yes, Roger Smith will meet a female robot, named Dorothy R Wayneright (another direct reference to/of batman: Bruce Wayne, the Wayne family), first in trying to help her out with something, but their relationship grows, and she ends up joining him and helping him out, and she also has quite a secret too. She also references slightly to/with catwoman in batman, but that is it, as she's very different from catwoman, but you can still see, the anime is very "batman-like", lol it's a really good interesting sci-fi anime, but can't get into any greater details as don't want to spoil

Luke asking if Terraformars is fucked up is funny considering we're talking about the anime that became infamous for having an entire scene in the first couple of episodes which had to have been censored by putting a black screen over like 90% of the screen in its first release xD But on a more serious note Terraformars is actually quite good and enjoyable and you learn a surprising amount about various insect species and other animals. The main problems it's facing right now is just the manga being on indefinite hiatus for a while now and the animes 2nd season being not that well received (it basically got the Promised Neverland treatment in terms of quality drop)

At 9:20 - What you're looking at are the "Tattoos" of the Taboo Tattoo anime. They're basically symbols/runes that give the one imprinted with them powers related to them. Big O was heavily influenced by Batman the Animated Series, IIRC. I _think_ the opening used here was for the re-airing of it on Toonami/in the west, though I could be totally wrong. I highly recommend checking out the full version of its ending song, "And Forever..." (since the TV version is just a shorter version with a static image).

That's not the JP version. It's the replacement version for any physical media post lawsuit. The OG opening got them sued and forced it to change. You can still find the original opening on youtube though.

I will say the first paragraf is spoilery... kinda... like the explanation you had is literally the first 3 eps.... If I were you I would edit and delete the first paragraf but keep the rest. TerraFormars is like AOT with bugs. Rough summary is in the future humans sent cockroaches to mars to get them to terraform the planet. They instead mutated to humanoids with murderous intent. Fearful of them returning to Earth, multiple countries sent in enhanced soldiers to prevent that. Their dna was infused with that of insects or animals. Plenty of gore and violence. Taboo Tattoo: tattoos give power. Opening was better than the show itself. Decent animations but story felt too rushed while lacking impact. React to more openings by the artist. May'n has a unique voice.

Terra formars was about a mission to mars to find a cure for a virus. The original mission way before that one is to send mosses and roaches to mars to start an atmosphere actually beginning to terraform the planet into something hospitable for human colonization. Unfortunately something happened in the evolution chain and the roaches which were supposed to die and become soil somehow evolved into humanoid beings that gained a society similar to cromagan man. A manned mission was sent up but they quickly died, then the space agency used dna splicing techniques to infuse humans with animal dna in hopes of understanding what happened. Two survivors came from that. Now it is years later and a large group of people need to find that cure. Although all of them are infused with animal dna. Unfortunately the roaches evolved in such a short amount of time that they easily copied the DNA splicing techniques and have learned actual communication.

Luke, you are getting much and much better at determining what anime are about. When you said it feels like Starship Troopers you were right on target. It's very very similar to Starship Troopers and just as gory/violent with just as big a bodycount. It is definitely worth seeing although the live-action movies starring Shun Oguri (one of my absolute faves) are just as good.

Let's just say, people tried to terraform Mars in current year by sending roaches to spread oxygen on mars with their corpses, left the planet alone for 500 years, and then sent an explorer team to check out the progress of the terraforming mission - it does not go well... Edit: As for recommendations, i would recommend Oban Star Racers, Kekkai Sensen, and Megalo Box if you have not seen them already

You basically got the premise of Terraformars correct. There's a tad bit more depth to it but it is essentially government sponsored space exploration and terraforming crew. The crew is usually all volunteer forces that have undergone gene-splicing to allow them to take on some characteristics of insects from earth. Also that intro of Big O...ewwwww. Try and find the Original Broadcast opening. The Big O is great though it's basically Batman the Animated Series meets your Super Robot shows of the late 70's with some suspense elements interlaced. Terra Formars is a series about Terraforming Mars... after 500 years they send people there to check if everything is okey... It's not... Taboo Tattoo is one of those anime where the opening song is the most memorable part of the series, because the anime, in my memory, is mediocre. To be fair, I'm even surprised that someone suggested it, because the anime has been a while ago. The opening and the animation within it are definitely banging, it's been on my play list ever since the anime was released.

Terraformars was a brutal manga series about how humanities send crap ton of cockroaches and this special algae to Mars to terraform it around the 26th century. Turns out the cockroaches evolved way more than they thought and it becomes a fight for survival for all of the humans who went to Mars. The humans themselves had augmentation to give them traits of specific bugs/animals. So, it is part educational on how having these animal traits on human scale affect the fights. Sadly, the anime was severely butchered where it was first censored a lot and then changed animation style entirely for a second season. The first opening is great though. I did kinda stop reading the manga but it was not from just moving on to other series than hating it.

Day 226 Attempt 95 asking for Dot Hack Sign Openings and Endings/ Dot Hack Franchise reactions (intertwined series of Anime and Games) The Big O was on Toonami(so yes it was on cartoon network) and it was quite successful in the West airing alongside shows like Naruto for a time, however, it was a flop in Japan so it ended up canceled early despite its overall success. Terraformers is messed up, its on mars, but unfortunately despite the concept it has kinda mediocre-bad reviews overall

To put it simply, TerraFormars is about hyper-evolved, humanoid cockroaches on Mars. Human soldiers and scientists are spliced with insects or animals in order to fight or fend them off with unique skills to try to take Mars back and protect the Earth. And the anime is messed up. People die brutally.

Terraformars is basically: Mutated Mars Cockroaches vs. supernatural Astronauts (Only read the Manga, heard the Anime is very badly(/ridiculously) censored). The 1st Intro is an absolute Banger, especially the full Version. Hard not to bop to!
