Wow, I'm 58, born and raised in NYC and itching to leave. I have always felt more at home in the country and only feel at true peace at our vacation home in the mountains, away from all the noise.

This song actually started out as the B side of the single but a disc jocky played the wrong side by accident and eventually, the song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 Singles Chart!😮😊

This is the Doobie's love letter to New Orleans. They spent time there (Toulouse Street album) and experienced all the delights N.O. has to offer - taking a streetcar uptown, dancing in honky tonks with pretty girls, listening to Dixieland music, and watching the black water of the Mississippi River roll on.

I’ve seen them live a few times and even a few years ago they still sound just as great now as they did on their records. They broke up for a while in the 80’s but got back together. I still have my concert tshirt that says “ Doobie Brothers Farewell Tour 1982”. It was too large for me then but fits me now…. lol😂 ( I was almost 22 yrs old then😊) Love the reactions. Each day I can’t wait to see what’s next!

This was my favorite album/vinyl record when I was a teenager. I still have it. Saw them in Santa Barbara in concert in the 70's then last year in Northern California. It was absolutely incredible to see them live again and they sounded just as good as they did back in the day. Michael McDonald is a great addition to the Doobies...I'm so glad you are enjoying this music. Just think, your 65 year old grandmother was cool! I'm 67 and was just as cool back then as I am today....guess I will never grow up. LOL...thanks for the reaction

The Doobie Brothers are from San Jose, Ca The singer & songwriter Pat Simmons was from the Santa Cruz Mt area , he seemed to be a bit more blue grass country in his playing & songs. Pat Simmons & the other guitarist Tom Johnston were the main Vocalist until Tom had to leave because of Health issues- then keyboardist Michael McDonald came in & he was really soulful

Cool Breeze Dreeezy. I'm an old white man (80), and I love old Motown (Temptations, Marvin Gaye) and Al Green too. But I also liked the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Steely Dan. The most important thing I learned from listening to diverse kinds of music was that if you want to make beautiful music, you must play the black and the white notes together. Music is magic and brings people together.

Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers are connected as studio artists. Michael McDonald recorded Peg with Steely and became a member of Doobie after this song and the 70s. The 80s was second British invasion.

Long Train Running! Love this one. Touching lyrics. Growing up, there were train tracks up a slight hill not far behind my bedroom window. You could hear (and feel) the train heading toward and then away from you. I'd wonder where it came from, where it was going, and what freight it carried. Once it stopped and all us kids headed up to the tracks to see why. There was a huge pile of grain next to the track with more spilling forth. We'd wave at the conductor and the guy in the caboose as they flew by, thinking how exciting it must be on this powerful machine! One of my favorite stories of all time was from a magazine called Readers Digest. A guy submiited a short story where he talked about growing up with other kids near some railroad tracks. I read it many years ago, but will try to convey it as accurately as I can. He wrote (probably sometime back in the late 1960s) about a childhood experience. It went something like this... A bunch of us kids from very poor, but different neighborhoods (Irish, Italian, Jewish, etc.) would play baseball on an empty lot near the train tracks. Our families never interacted, but we always got along and enjoyed playing together. Whenever a train rattled by, we'd all wave and yell greetings to the conductor. On a cold, late December day, the train slowed to a crawl, then stopped. The conductor stepped down, handing us a big cardboard box. When we opened it, there were warm hats, scarves, and mittens - enough for all of us. And there was a note that said, "Merry Christmas to our miniature United Nations. It's our deeoest hope that the world, like you, will learn to live together in peace."

Isley Brothers have more than 50 years in the business. They have more of their songs sampled than most other groups. Their songs have been made classic in movies like Animal House. Classic soul: it’s Your Thang, Summer Breeze, Twist and Shout, Caravan of Love, For The Love of You, Whose That Lady? They all give a different vibe. These are early songs. They are still making music.

Earth Wind & Fire: September. Brothers Johnson Strawberry Letter 23. Kansas: Dust in the Wind. Bon Jovi: Dead or Alive Lionel Richie: Easy. His group Commodores song Brick House. My older brother listed to this music so I was I introduced to it very early. He loved the doobie brothers. Steeley Dan: Deacon Blue- very special because they solidify the greatness of a college football team in Alabama and their famous now deceased legendary coach Paul Bear Bryant-the team Crimson Tide.

The thing about the Doobie Brothers is that each song sounds really different depending on which member wrote the song........so you get to know the styles of the writers, and if you don't like one, you might like another band member's songs.
