Rosanna Arquette is the 2nd most written about woman in rock. With this song, and "In your eyes" by Peter Gabriel, she is the most popular muse from the 80s. Patti Boyd, ex wife of Eric Clapton and George Harrison is the most written about woman ever. ( I want to tell you, for you blue, something, within you without you,/Bell bottom blues, wonderful tonight, and Layla were all about her. )

I'm a senior, dedicated ARMY since my Phi Beta Kappa daughter introduced me to *BTS* (Bangtan Sonyeondan) 💜 a few years ago. Like many, I'm enthralled by their goodness, talents, hard work, humor, creativity, dedication to their fandom, intelligence, etc. I understand that they have over 300 different songs and raps, plus humorous challenge and travel video series, cartoon, webtoon, behind the scenes sharing, contact with ARMY in vlogs, etc,. *The guys all more or less contribute to the concepts, writing, composing, producing, and performing of their varied productions* . I've read that *these "rags to riches" global superstars now have over 800 various awards, often breaking others' and their own records* . I don't love all their very varied genre songs and raps, but since I appreciate each member so much, I support them wholeheartedly. *Watching one or two performances or music videos doesn't begin to get a feeling for the BTS phenomenon* . They don't fit in any category, like "K-pop", which can be very cookie-cutter. Many of their mv's can seem a bit random, but ARMY researches and discusses all the references to culture; science; literature; their own past works; their ongoing, enigmatic fictional storyline: Bangtan Universe; and things like Carl Jung's Map Of The Soul psychology theories. There are many explanation videos that help to appreciate their lyrics and mv's, like by DKDKTV and Bookish Theories. One of their feel-good live performances of one of their many songs for and to encourage ARMY is MIKROKOSMOS, and a good performance is at Webley Stadium, which IIRC, they sold out 2 days in a row. ( They sold out 4 days in LA). *kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF68an5ogMx2aNE* *BTS - Mikrokosmos Live (ENG SUB)* Most of their own company channels, *BIG HIT, BANGTANTV, & HYBE* have English CC subtitles. Many vocal coaches commend their duets between the vocalists and rappers in their cover of Coldplay's FIX YOU, which Coldplay gave permission for, and has since done some collabs with them. A very small sampling of some of their works, but not their amazing choreography, are in their [2021 FESTA] BTS (방탄소년단) BTS ROOM LIVE #2021BTSFESTA (a sampling of "B Sides" over the years, ending with a song for ARMY during lockdown, TELEPATHY, written by SUGA.). and BTS: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert by NPR Music.

Nonsense! Live is the reality. NOTHING beats a great band live. I hate that we’ve gotten so wrapped in cellophane about Music - always trying to “package” it, instead of living it. This Toto performance is exactly what Music is all about.
@jackgilchrist
@jackgilchrist Жыл бұрын
@@ikshields Studio recordings are reality too (and these are studio musicians). A studio recording represents a lot of hard work to get a song just right according to what they want it to be, and what they want to present to the world. Almost always the studio version is the first version people hear, and it's embedded in their consciousness and life experiences and later their nostalgia. If they're lucky they might later be able to see the band live. This is how it has been for all my lifetime and yours. It not a recent phenomenon. Live music is great, of course. On rare occasions a band might even sound as good or better live (sometimes... depending on a lot of variables). But live performances are meant to be heard live, where you partake of the whole experience and energy. That's what makes them special. Because the sound quality and performance are probably not going to be as polished and perfect... which can be a good thing in a live show, but not so much when casually listening to a live recording. In this case, while this is an awesome performance, I'd rather listen to Bobby Kimball sing on the studio version. Nothing against Williams who is a good singer, but he's no Bobby.

First of all, I was typing when you said "Oh, Hi Neal" and it triggered a momentary look of shock and confusion on my face. 😆 This is a great song and this is a good live version, but it's not my favorite live performance on KZbin. Toto is an incredible band which was originally formed by a group of top notch LA session musicians and they have had a bunch of hits over the years, along with line-up changes in the band. On the origin of the name of the song, the keyboardist with the hat, David Paich, wrote the song about an ex-girlfriend, but the other keyboardist, Steve Porcaro (one of 3 Porcaro brothers in the band in the 80's), had been going out with the actress Rosanna Arquette and a rumor became widespread that the song was written about her. the band and Arquette thought the rumor was funny so they didn't say anything to dispute it for years.

Yeah, you NEED to start by listening to the studio versions first. Toto is great live, but they are so much better in the studio, and yes, that INCLUDES the music videos which are immaculate and so well done. With them, you DO still get to see the group performing and see all the members ... and see them when they were fresh and so much better. Plus, in this case, you would have actually gotten to see the ORIGINAL members do the music (in the music video).
