This comment made my day 😃 I definitely try to keep 💯. I did one other from active gxng. That was fire!! It's hard to do more because I don't really have a good context of what's good in the UK scene. In the US it's kinda low key hard to find. You guys need to just put me on 🙏

This song has a lot more jamaican/gambian influence compared to a lot of UK songs. But the slang usually has Jamaican influence

looool UK music is on top right now for a reason.
@RapPhilosophy4 жыл бұрын
I feel you. It's definitely an amazing sound but in the US it's actually hard to hear it in the main circles still. Skepta was really the only one who got some mainstream play and I think it was because he was featured with American artists like Drake and Asap rocky. It's unfortunate. I can't believe how good this music is and how it doesn't make it's way to mainstream over here and into my feed! I'm counting on my UK peeps to keep me up to date now!!

@@RapPhilosophy I appreciate you, lots of Americans just can't get past the accent which is fair enough, but it's refreshing to see someone so open to our music and culture :)

It’s not confusing u just explained exactly what it is bro the UK is a melting pot and we making some of the hardest music in the world rn lol most of the black population is made of Jamaican/African decent that grew up on reggae Afro beats RnB Hiphop and we just created our own waves and genres!
@RapPhilosophy4 жыл бұрын
That makes sense and is dope. I definitely feel this wave in particular. Reggae was much more popular when I was younger in the US. until hip-hop really blew up. I miss the reggae days and it's influence on American urban culture. Reggae doesn't have the impact it used to have here. I think that's why this song and this vibe is exciting to me.

@@RapPhilosophy majority of black Brits are 1st or 2nd generation. So our parents or we immigrated to the Uk. We haven’t been in the uk for hundreds of years like black Americans so the Caribbean/ African influence is strong and a strong part of black British culture, our language, slang, music
@charleneraymond40364 жыл бұрын
Vast majority of black people in Britain are second generation so our parents/grandparents are from Africa and the Caribbean so we are still familiar with our motherland accents if that makes sense. Jamaica has the biggest influence on urban British culture & Jamaican creole/patois is used in every day language by everyone here so you hear it in the urban music too no matter where they're from.
@RapPhilosophy4 жыл бұрын
I love the sound especially because I love reggae music. I like this sound more than the UK drill sound I hear. Uk drill typically sounds like rap with a british accent but this definitely does sound more jamaican to me.

@@RapPhilosophy I'm not a fan of drill music either. I much prefer Grime and Afrobashment. Although I disagree that it sounds like American rap as drill is it's own thing.
@RapPhilosophy4 жыл бұрын
@@charleneraymond4036 in terms of UK drill sounding like American rap with a british accent I mean american drill not this song. Otherwise known as chicago drill. I believe the consensus is definitely that drill music originated in Chicago usa. Although I could be wrong. That would be my comparison of UK drill with American drill rap, not sounding much different to me. This song on the other hand is something else to me. Much more unique.

In the UK it's heavily influenced by jamaican and caribbean culture particularly in London. Pa salieu is his actual name as his family is from Gambia and he lived there for many years. You should also react to Pa salieu 'Block boy' it's just as good 🔥🔥

Yes man! Gee's energy has me thinking of a young Busta Rhymes from, Leaders of the New School, days but raw. UK rap has lineage, you can go back to 1989 with Hijack (the terrorist group)- Contract. I think the ( ) part was dropped though, I don't know why haha. Then we can go on to London Posse with Gangsta Chronicles. MD7 - Silent Scream. The list goes on. Yeah I'm old haha
