Love your reaction! “You can’t take anything in life too seriously.” YES! And THAT was a young Van Halen with Roth. These guys were FUN while being incredible musicians. The ultimate party band. Also, I was 11 when this video was ALL OVER MTV. Me and my friends were all about it, of course! And this shows the difference between the sense of humor of the 80s compared to now. In 7th grade I had a teacher for math. She almost always had one button too many unbuttoned and If you got called to the blackboard to do a problem, she'd sit with her legs crossed, stocking top and garter showing and you could look down her blouse. I did real good in math that year.

in 1976 my fourth Grade teacher Mrs. Schultze walk into the our class a brand new 20 something teacher dressed in a thigh length sun dress, and curves in all the right places. She was a 70's long haired disco queen. Despite all the boys getting excited, we still made her cry on her first day. We couldn't help it we were ten year old kids. Fast forward six years and my kid sister said she was still crying but also banging her head against the chalk board in frustration. But honestly she was not only pretty she was super nice. I regret making her cry.

This is a very cool channel. I have recently started watching these reaction type videos and I really love yours. I enjoy seeing the reactions because well one, I was alive and watching these videos and or listening to this music, and two, watching somebody who's not familiar with the group nor the artist is pretty much the same, as when I saw these people performing for the first time also. Well, with the exception of the PDC club, however, the emotions are about the same. Once again you're doing a great job. Keep the videos coming I truly cannot get enough of them. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you this little piece of trivia. The Waldo character was also the poster boy for Jolt Cola. Jolt cola was an anti health marketing scheme to sell a beverage. It's tagline was, "Jolt Cola, all the caffeine and twice the sugar!" It was the 80's and there were many people that didn't want food or drink that was labeled no sugar, low fat, reduced calorie, organic nor anything decaffeinated. And this company decided they were going to capitalize upon that theme.

Dave was at his peak on Fair Warning...there is no way that Sammy could have sang those songs with the same oomph that a younger David had...and I severely disagree that Van Halen "wasn't about the vocals". Without DLR's unreal charisma and stage presence on top of his extremely catchy and unique vocals, Van Halen would have never ended up 'VAN HALEN'...please never diminish David's contribution...
@rickwelch8464
@rickwelch8464 Жыл бұрын
@@johnjohn37371 They got rid of him and never missed a beat. Sure he was fun. Anyone could be the lead singer and they'd have been successful. The brilliance was always in the music. DLR superfans can't be convinced but it doesn't make it inaccurate.
@johnjohn37371
@johnjohn37371 Жыл бұрын
@@rickwelch8464 Well, they got rid of him at their height...and he went on to have success as well. I would suggest that their music changed greatly. Look, I'm a Sammy Hagar fan...I just hate it when people diminish Roth's contributions...there is no chance "just anyone" could have took his place...you obviously aren't old enough to have seen them live in the very early eighties...he was a unicorn that got copied over and over again. I consider his actions and personality after 1986 or so nearly intolerable, but that has nothing to do with his early brilliance. Those songs without his shrill cries and cadences would be sorely diminished...don't have to love him, but you need to recognize him...

I agree to a certain point… I’m in my late 50’s… I would say its more likely that you don’t know what rock and metal bands can do today either…? I felt the same as you for a long time - based on rock radio alone….but radio is a poor reflection of the state of heavy melodic guitar based music. There is alot of great guitar based rock being made today and for the last 20 yrs, but it doesn’t get near the same mainstream exposure that rock got in the 80’s and 90’s. Nothing to do with the quality. It simply fell out of ‘fashion.’ Personally, I’m tired of alot of ‘classic’ rock, because they get played too much - over alot of quality stuff now -mostly because of nostalgia.

When I was in Jr-Sr High School we had two types of teachers. 1. They were starting out when my mom was in school and nearing retirement. 2. They were just out of college and only 4 to 6 years older than the seniors. You better believe that a lot of the students planned the school classes off of who was teaching the class. By the time my brother came through five years after me all the old teachers were gone.

Hi Britt, normally you see me for your 4th Impact reactions, but I seen you were doing one of my favorite Van Halen songs i thought I'd chime in. These guys never took themselves seriously at all, as evidenced by this video. So the band was founded by Eddie (Lead Guitar) and Alex (Drummer) Van Halen, the other members at this time; Nichael Anthony (Bass Guitar) and David Lee Roth (Lead Singer), David Lee Roth left the band in 1985 when Sammy Hagar took over as Lead Singer. These guys were ahead of the game for the hair band era come onto the scene back in 78 where their debut album took the world by storm, I know, I bought the album asap, not one bad song on the album! So yes, this was released in 1984, the FCC and apparently the American public were cool with this kind of behavior, I never had a problem with it, I mean it did feature hot babes.😂🤣 It was released during MTv's heyday, you know, back when they actually played Music Videos all day and all night! I still remember the very first Music Video ever played on air, "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles, well thank God it didn't actually kill radio. I was in my late teens the year it came out, so it was very relevent to my and my friends. David Lee Roth went on to a solo career that never went anywhere, he had a couple songs that did ok, but nothing great, I think there was rumors about how he would rejoin the band, but that would never have happened, since he was such a, (if you will pardon the expression) "Dick". But Van Halen went on for years afterward and produced a lot of great music. Great seeing you miss Britt, take care.

I give you a big high five! You by far have had the best reaction I've seen to this video. You understood the meaning and the youth way this was portrayed. Thank you

Ms. Kollona, 8th grade. From the 2nd day of school for about 3 weeks afterward, her homeroom quadrupled in size by guys who weren't supposed to be there. Turns out she had appeared in Playboy magazine, and when a kid brought in a copy, she ran from the room in tears and immediately quit her job at school.

I was in 6th and had a huge crush on my teacher in 1984. Needless to say, this instantly became my favorite song/video that year. The ‘80s was such a great time, everything was fun.

This was just part of the music video landscape back in the day and now it shines as a wonderful and fun piece :D And your reaction had me grinning from ear to ear in memory of the world that we have sadly left behind ...

Such a great reaction. You nailed it in that this was just a really cool rock song and a just a funny self-deprecating video to not take yourself too seriously.

This video came out when I was 14 years old. I watched MTV all day just to see it. You're right. Our hormones were firing on all cylinders. This video epitomized every young boy's feelings back in the day. 1984.

This video came out when I was in high school; I think I watched it 1,000 times the first month it was out 😂😂. That’s when MTV was still a baby and played great videos

Van Halen was always a band that expressed about life in the positive scents and less in the negative. The song is about adolescent and instead of the trauma and drama at that age. They spun it around and made it humorous they where always like that before they settled down and had families of there own.

The best thing about Van Halen is the swing and jazz in their music. It's one of the key ingredients that makes Van Halen Van Halen.

I was a 10 year old boy when this came out. We all loved this video and MTV played it constantly. And when Eddie plays guitar walking down the table. Every kids rock star dream. Be sure to google the article "Remembering the Time Eddie Van Halen Recorded The Guitar Solo on Michael Jackson's "Beat It"" for more interesting reading about Eddie.

OK, the elephant in the room, you rock! Growing up in this time when you could hear this kind of content and talent, makes me smile about getting older. To be there when this was happening, was an amazing blessing.

I always had that one friend in the '70's and 80''s who had a problem. In the 70's she wouldn't allow my kiss alive 2 album to be allowed over. In the 80's i had a friend who's mom wouldn't let him see "Risky Business" he did anyway and he got grounded. We were 16. Both of those mothers heads would have exploded if they saw this video on their tv. I don't remember my mom ever paying attention to what i watched on mtv

The guy who did the choreography also did it for Michael Jackson's "Beat It " video. If you notice in the first dance sequence, the Van Halen brothers actually run into each other and they kept it in the final cut.
