Wagakki Band is a sensory overload. Everything is stunning. Nothing else like it anywhere on Earth. They have been around for awhile now, and they have many fans all over the world. So many songs. So many shows.

There isn't a lot more I can add to the previous comments other than welcome to the only true Supergroup on the planet which has the finest frontwoman and singer on the planet, Yuko Suzuhana. Every member of the band is an amazing talent in their own right and have accumulated a lot of accolades, but together they are indescribable. Simply put, they are something never really seen before. And the reason for the formation of the band is one of the finest reasons of all. Yuko formed the band to encourage the younger generations to love the beauty of traditional instruments, and then made it better by incorporating modern rock instruments. There is such a wealth of great songs of great beauty and musical perfection that will do exactly what you commented on, make your hair stand up. And you haven't even heard the best stuff yet. They have a voluminous catalogue that touches many genres. To get a little idea of them pre-Wagakki Band, check out a group called Hanafugetsu, which was formed by Yuko, with Koto (harp/zither instrument) expert Kiyoshi Ibukuro, now her husband, and Shakuhachi (bamboo flute) virtuoso Daisuke Kaminaga. Yuko sang and played piano. She is a superb pianist and keyboardist, which she started at age 3. She also is an expert in the Japanese traditional singing/poetry style called Shigin, as well as in traditonal style Japanese dances including the fan (shi) and sword (ken). To me she is a true modern Renaissance woman. You definitely will enjoy your reactions to them and I'm sure you will gain many new subscribers as you have a great style. As one of their fortes is folk metal, you might enjoy looking into other artists of the same genres. Here are a few, The HU Band, from Mongolia, Otyken, from Siberia, Ni Ni Music, from Taiwan and Moyun from China. They all use traditional instruments and compare favorably to most modern bands when they do covers of modern songs. There are also some noteworthy groups from Morocco, Tunisia and the Caucasus regions of Georgia, Circassia and the Cossacks. Enjoy the ride habibi !

All eight of them were well known individually before joining together for this band. Some are virtuoso performers, others well known music teachers. Your next reaction should be them doing Bring Me To Life, with Amy Lee. It's amazing.

Wagakki Band consists of 8 highly professional musicians. Started in 2012 officially in 2013 by Pianist, Poet, Composer and Shigin singer Yuko Suzuhana. They have released 7 studio albums, 2 EPs and several live albums and DVDs. They quickly became popular and are today an arena band. Guitarist Machiya is the sound engineer and is in charge of arrangement and has the final say. He said in an interview that the first two years were mostly trial and error before they found the recipe for how to do it. Recommend live performances from Daishinnenkai 2018 which is one of the best and most entertaining concerts I have seen. They blend traditional Japanese instruments and music into rock in the most delightful way. the two different drum kits, moving directly from that thick bass solo to rock shimisen, and that flute player in the second piece! And, well, everything. They're all massively talented musicians and performers.

Homura" is the instrumental part of the first half, while the second half is titled "Akatsukinoite." They signed a global contract with Universal Sigma after their exclusive contract with Avex Trax expired in June 2019. Since then, their music videos (excluding live videos) owned by Avex have been reliably blocked. So we recommend that you check out their live videos.

Said it before I will say it again, The Japanese musicians are the masters of taking something that has been done world over and to excess and PERFECTING it, and making it there own. Wagaki band are up there with the very best. You may also want to dig into X Japan, symphony X etc and of course band maid

I would recomend "Synchronicity" as well because it is very different than their other music and shows their incredible range as musicians. The song is actually about a woman and man who don't know each other that through fate actually change bodies. Some very cute interactions between vocalists in this one. There is also one version of their song "Senbonzakura" that includes Amy Lee with them as well.

One thing you will find about Japanese bands is that there is a real camaraderie between the band members that has become passe in the West today. SCANDAL, Band Maid, Nemophila, Gacharic Spin and a host of others. SCANDAL, a veteran J-rock band, have been together since high school in 2006 and they are in the 17th year of being together and are still very relevant and on the cutting edge. I know I will get some criticism, but the best music right now is coming out of Japan. And I haven't even brought up Baby Metal yet, which is another global sensation, or Glim Spanky, who have completely revitalized classic blues rock. There is just so much talent there, especially young and up-and-coming stars like guitarist Li-sa-X and drummer Yoyoka Soma. There is such a great wealth of music coming out of Japan that rivasl the 1960's - 1970's golden age of rock.

Fun fact, the flute is a shakuhachi, ‘hachi’ meaning 8 and ‘shaku’ referring to traditional units of measurement - because that’s how long the instrument is. I love the whole band but the flutist and the shamisen player have all of my heart. ❤
