Angelina Jordan Astar (born 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian singer whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday, became a viral video online and brought her worldwide press coverage. She went on to win the competition at the age of seven with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime". Since then, she has worked to raise money on behalf of environmental causes and various children's charities. She always performs barefoot, after befriending a young shoeless girl and giving her shoes to her. Jordan later wrote a book about the experience, Mellom to hjerter (Between Two Hearts).
Jordan has released multiple digital singles and EPs, and one full-length album called It's Magic. She appeared on the first season of Little Big Shots in 2016, and the second season of America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020, where her cover version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" brought her much attention.

Angelina, the barefoot princess, the girl with a thousand voices, will surprise you again and again in her many songs over her ten year career. Many have been sent inventing new words trying to describe her many expressive vocal techniques: "kermitting", "frybratto" etc. At age 18 today, Angelina continues to surprise and delight. So nice to have you join our journey with Angelina, the barefoot Princess. As they say down the block, "You ain't seen nothin' yet!" And, that's no lie. She was actually 9 doing this and then she notched it up a few more levels when she hit 10. What!?!?!?!? Yep! The gentleman is the bandleader and from what I understand, she's handing him hand written notes on how she wants the music arranged. I've heard that the band lovingly referred to her as "the boss". It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she choice to use her incredible passion and understanding for music in a splendid way, especially with these legendary songs. Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. First seen at 18 months signing a line from a Whitney song holding a toy mic in her crib, her Granma played jazz around the house around 3 she started using her mums iPad to search out all the jazz greats and taught herself to sing by 5 she was crazing her mum to sign her up for Norway's got talent , she had to wait until she was 7 yrs old she auditioned with her performance of "Gloomy Sunday " by Billie Holiday (this was her choice no one choses her music) this went viral and agents were flying to Norway to sign her up her family turned everything down , she went on to win the show at 8yrs old , with an a Capella version of "I'm a fool to want you" again Billie her inspiration , then "Bang Bang" Nancy Sinatra and her winning performance "Summer Time" Louis Armstrong and Ella duet , she was the Mini Jazz Queen by then and the Legend of Angelina Jordan was born. Dear Sir, the Good Lord gave her this magnificent voice and an unusual high intelligence. She wrote sentences in her diary at age 6, that most adult could not come up with. She published a book at age 9. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. On September 22, 2023, Angelina had her first U.S. concert that sold out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On December 11, 2023, she was asked to come back and perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. She first performed at this prestigious event in 2014 when she was 8. On Feb.29th, 2024, she performed 2 shows on one night at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. A film crew followed her and created a documentary of her called Angelina Jordan: 10 Years In The Making which premiered on her official KZbin channel on March 29th, 2024. Currently, she is working with 3 time Grammy winner songwriter/producer Toby Gad creating new original music for her to sing. Gad has co-wrote and produced such big hits like All Of Me by John Legend, Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie, If I Were A Boy by Beyonce, and Skyscraper by Demi Lovato and a number of others. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to sing for the whole world, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. She exposed Angelina to the Jazz greats from an early age-Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and others-Angelina a nine year old Norwegian girl, who happens to be a musical prodigy. Why Angelina always performs barefoot For those who do not know. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina says she still thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
