That backing group is the Jordanaires, one of the best famous and backing vocal groups in the business at the time and for years afterwards. They were fantastic at what they could do with their voices. They were highly sought-after.

The men behind him were clapping to add to the beat, but they also sang backup vocals for other songs that Elvis was singing on the show.

The girls loved Elvis, he was so good looking and sexy. He was the new rock 'n roll idol! He changed the world of music back then. They screamed at all his concerts. The guys liked Elvis too, they all tried to comb their hair like he did.

In 1956, Rock and Roll was rather new, and on TV, there was no sex, no cussing and even married people in sit coms slept in separate beds. On I Love Lucy, when she got pregnant in real life and on the sit com, Ricky didn’t even use the word pregnant, but said Lucy was expecting. Elvis changed the culture, music, clothing, hairstyles and sexual morals. He was the talk of America. 86.2% of TV viewers tuned into his first Ed Sullivan appearances on September 8th, 1956.

Elvis was named 'the pelvis' too....because of his indecent hip swings... It was in the fifties of the last century... Greetings from Germany.

Hey, man. Those were the Jordanians standing behind him. From1956-1968, they sang the back up vocals for Elvis. In addition, one of them ( Im not sure which one) played the piano for him when they were on tour or , sometimes, on television. There was no piano part in the recording of Hound Dog. So, they all stood and clapped. But sang some harmony during the guitar instrumental.

What kind of accent? Elvis grew in Tupelo in northern Mississippi and as a teen he lived in Memphis. It's a southern accent.

Elvis has a Mississippi accent, the men behind him are The Jordanaires, please react to "Reddy Teddy' by Elvis on Ed Sullivan, thanks.

You thought the women would stop screaming. 😂😂🤣🤣 They could have cared less what the words of the song were. It didn’t matter if he sang the ABC song. If he made the slightest move, they went wild. Sex appeal galore.

I like your reaction but you need to understand some context too. The music before him was tame! No one moved like this ever! He was the first one! So this screaming was kind of primal. If you watch the new Elvis Movie, you would know what I mean. There is a scene where a teenage girl screamed when seeing him on stage and she is shocked that the scream came out of her! It was like ‘what the heck just happened? Was that me that just did that!?’ Everyone was proper before Elvis. No screaming, no moving like that etc. This was a new phenomena. Also, the Jordanaires sang background with him also in every movie where he would sing. I think it was awesome that you reacted to Elvis! I wasn’t born when this performance was on tv but I do remember the day he died.The whole world mourned.

It's not just idolization. It's that he and other rockers were giving women permission to have fun. Back then, women were usually housewives and if a single lady wanted to flirt with a guy, she was supposed to act like she wasn't interested in him to avoid seeming vulgar. This was the society they were living in. But this is also the 50s, when the Sexual Revolution was starting and a new wave of Feminism was starting, and women were realizing that they were more than just wives and mothers.
@davisworth51142 жыл бұрын
It's been all downhill since, BTW the "Sexual revolution" began with the advent of birth control pills in the early 1960s. You don't know what you're talking about!

hey! i just wanted to lyk that ur one of my favorite queen reactors on youtube, bc u actually took the time to know roger, brian and deaky,, alongside freddie, and that i hope u continue to post more of your reactions to all the queen fan members. i understand it won’t get as many views as the music videos or anything, but even just funny moments of queen (not just freddie) or interviews or will be something special to those of us who love those kind of reactions. it’s just a rare thing to see others who appreciate queen as much as we do! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWjKlamaoqyMd6c
