Quite simply one of the greatest piece of music ever written. Phenomenal.

Fantastic! The original single from the seventies is a masterpiece. To live without my music… so emotional ❤️

This came out when I was 15 and I immediately loved it. Even then I knew, in my heart, that music would be my first and last love and that to live without it would be impossible to do. That hasn't changed.

This is one of the most epic songs of ALLTIME. Always been one of my top 10 of alltime since I heard it as a 12 year old boy back in 1976.

john was a british artist who released 10 studio albums not including live or best of sets. sadyt john passed this past dec at the age of 72. i can so relate to this song as i started playing violin at age 5 for 3 yrs then progressed to the piano at age 10 and never looked back. i have composed my own songs now for 40 yrs and always use strings and when my time is through here this would be a wonderful song to play at my funeral as well as my own music

Great piece... Music is so important in my life that I get emotional like a "love song" on this one... BTW: I always die (inside and laughing) when there's an ad interrupting a piece of music as you had... You handled it good ! hahahaha

Yes Dereck, John Miles was a very multi-talented guy. He toured with Tina Turner at one point and was her musical director. This concert is the annual "Night of the Proms" from Belgium. John was an excellent guitarist so you should watch his performance of "Stairway to Heaven" from this concert, it was a duet with Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation. Sadly John passed away recently after a short illness, he will be greatly missed by his many fans.

I was 13 years old in 1976 and the song absolutely blew my mind at the time. It was around the same time that Queen's Bohemian Rapsody was made. A time when complex music could become a #1 hit. To this day I think "Wow!" when I hear this song, it hasn't lost any of its power to this day. I love how he skips through the different genres of music, only to keep coming back to his "Music was my first love", first in major, then in minor, and finally wonderfully orchestral. Everything about this song is just right and I admire the genius that brought such disparate parts together so beautifully.😍🥰

Oh my days what a masterpiece, an absolute work of art performed by all involved and that finale....just incredible!!!

R.I.P. Mr. Music. What a talent. When you consider there was basically 1 verse, and he turned that one verse into a song of epic proportions. Incredible. I'm well into my 70's now, and probably not much longer for this world, and as an ex-musician for most of my life I've left instructions for this to be played on the conclusion of my funeral. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for showing this... I knew the song and loved it, but time just hid it away until now. Deserves much more coverage. Simple concept with the upbeat 'music of the future' part, the orchestrated 'music of the past' section and the coming together finale, but inspired and a joy. RIP John.

👋🇨🇦 I found John Miles in 1978. I've never met anyone who knew who he was. He had a huge influence on me, eventually I co-founded a Progrock band. John Miles did a lot of vocal work for The Alan Parsons Project, was the Frontman for The Jimmy Page Band. He toured with Tina Turner as her guitarist, and with Joe Cocker. Your Patreon, I thank.
