The thing about the trailer revealing Senna coming back was HUGE to the lol community! Lucian came out in 2013 and Senna was prominent in his lore. And it wasn't until 2019, 6 years later, that he was finally reunited with his wife! Most of us assumed it was never going to happen so during the reveal the community went CRAZY!!!!! Edit: funnily enough we thought it was never happening because Yasuo had a brother in his lore we also never expected to see(him being dead and all) but a year after Senna's release we got Yone as well!

18:22 Yeah, one of the big themes of the Sentinels of Light event was the parallel between Lucian and Viego. Basically, Lucian went to Shadow Isles to fight Thresh to avenge Senna and to let her rest in piece. He was ready to accept her death, and her return was a complete surprise for him. Viego, on the other hand, never managed to accept the death of his wife. When he was still alive he tried to resurrect her and in the process destroyed Blessed Isles and turned them into Shadow Isles. And even a thousand years later he still couldn't accept the death of Isolde so he unlished Ruination on the world to find shards of Isolde's soul and bring her back. Lucian and Viego were in the similar situation, but one chose to accept reality and move on, while the other was so possessive and egotistical he was willing to destroy the world to get what he wanted.

Fun fact: Lucian before Senna was released had many quotes about missing his wife and avenging her. Pretty much super depressed widower voice lines. After Senna's release, riot added new voice lines making him sound cheery, happy, and more alive.

For bookworms, I recommend the "Ruination" novel from Anthony Reynolds for a more in-depth lore about Viego and Camavor. The Shadow Isles has a lot of great stories behind it.

The funny thing about the Ruination novel is Veigo is the complete opposite of what every other riot ip says he is. Like lowkey bro was a good king cuz of his wife. It’s been a while since I read it but everyone loved her and he did whatever she told him so the people of Camavor weren’t suffering or anything. From every other bit of lore you’d think he was a terrible king but his downfall happened after Isolde was poisoned.

Pretty sure that wasn’t technically her that did that but her magic that did it on its own. The magic she issues is literally the spirit of Ionia and is very much alive so once she was taken out of the picture it started to fight on its own and broke the crown for her.

tbh this "demacia is actually evil" is realy getting old. yes they are racist vs mages but considering the annie backstory, it at least has his reasons. if you got young kids, born with a power, who can burn your house to a crisp because they are sad or annoied, you need to find a solution to this problem. is it the best solution? sure it is not but demacia is also changing, as we see from the mageseeker story, where Lux becomes accepted as a mage and becomes the head of a city, where mages can find a home.

I'd love for them to go through many cinematics too, but filming for time is a factor and sometimes videos from the playlist are dropped. Everything from the Akshan recaps to the internal Ruined King cinematics (screenshot/datamined since they didn't exist anywhere separate from the game) were included on theis playlist and they were made aware of their existence. It's enough to get the gist of what happened during the Ruination event and they enjoyed their experience watching this set. They can always revisit more later down the line this way too.

Medarda family is part of the Noxus empire but they are originally from the north coast of shurima (who was conquered by noxus a century ago in the lore). So even tho they are part of Noxus they are still proud of their Shuriman legacy and therefore have a lot of gold on them. (Ambessa probably spend more time at the capital of Noxus than in her own territory for politic games).

This event was so hype when it happened because we were going to meet the ruined king in the flesh finally (we have known about his existence since the game started back in 2009 because there is his sword as an item you can buy) so we were all so hyped for this huge lore drop, unfortunatley he wasnt what were expecting storywise it makes sense but were waiting something like mordekaiser to be the big bad boss of the shadow isles, but with time we accepted him, the problem is, that the event was a chance molete failure because riot messed up the lore so much, there were like 6 other chalpions that were recluted as sentinels that never had an appereance on any trailer and the events didnt even made sense because this was a shared event between all their games (loeague, the mobile version of league and the card version of league) but they all told different the same story so we ended up with a messed up storyline where we as players didnt know which was the "canon" one, aside from that a lot of character were written out of character and didnt make sense they act as they did,... Well to not bore you the thing is that this event wasnt as good as it could because riot for some reason didnt care enough about, which it is a mess because this was one of the big events the whole community was waiting for, and they dropped the ball so hard.

The Shadow Isle used to be called the Blessed Isle for its healing power, but by Viego trying to revive Isode, it created something far more sinister and destroyed the isle to become what we've seen here today, with Viego at the heart of it--figuratively and literally

Viego's wife Isolde was a seamstress and she created Gwen, when she died her soul split into multiple fragments and one of them found its way to her beloved doll and brought her to life. Gwen wields a pure helpful hallowed mist and opposes Viego's harrowed black mist. The mist that Senna has is an in between that is unique to her that harms and helps, and it was because when she came out of Thresh's lantern she gained one of the fragments of Isoldes soul and to bring her back Viego had to bring all the fragments together.

FYI- The Ruination event was not perceived well because Riot Games managed to literally RUIN 10+ years of lore THEY built and destroyed it in a month. I'm not trying to hate if you like the cinematics. It's just more so, they left out at least 10 champions whose whole BACKSTORIES were about defeating Viego. Imagine playing characters over 10+ years and loving the lore and having it destroyed in a month. After the Ruination event Riot games apologized and promised to do better for any future lore events and it's actually what caused Arcane to become cannon and Riot games to address their mistake and make sure they fact check themselves for any future events. Just read the comments from the video, and here's some funny highlights "Plot twist: The whole event was Yorricks nightmare about Riot forgetting him. Yorick was busy digging a grave for the lore that was just murdered. I really liked that part where Yorick and Maokai showed up to fulfill their life missions of defeating the Ruined King. Love how they managed to destroy 10 years of lore in 1 month. Riot destroyed their own lore, and my life is RUINED. I loved Yorick, Kalista, Hecarim, Maokai, Karthus, Lendros, and Illaoi on this event. Thank god we got sentinel Olaf, Riven and Rengar, Irelia, etc, they were natural parts of the story. DUDE rengar was so cool, pyke doing his stuff u already know, and olaf going berserk dayum, irelia and riven do look happy fighting next to each other now, bruh that massive diana ult was insane tho, thank you rito." These comments were specifically from the "sentinel of life" cinematic, which was the final cinematic of the Ruination event.

I loved the spectral aesthetic they had going on, loved the idea of bringing a large antagonist from lore as a threat, creating a widespread event that encouraged players to interact with the game in a new way. The many aspects they brought to the game had imo expanded upon the production from the Spirit Blossom event. Lore....was lacking, if I'm being generous - upsetting if I'm being honest. I too was expecting more about Yorick and Maokai, but the biggest issue for me was what seemed like miscommunication between the writers and teams behind the implementation of the event. I think that had they been a little more consistent across the board (and not reset players' progress through the event midway), it mightve been received better. There probably are many other factors that came into play, but yeah, the lore and some changes they made to the event during its run just left a bad taste in anyone's mouth for 2021. It's interesting to hear what people's experiences are though. For folks that didn't care about the lore, the event was terribly grindy and the cinematics didn't make sense with the comics and lore nodes we received. Good times.

hehe its cute how Dee thinks so many champions are mages. Maybe its because champions with cool Hadouken looking moves stand out in such stark contrast to lets say the melee weapon looking champions seen in hte cinematics (such as Draven, Jhin, Garen, Riven etc). The truth is most in the game aren't but they still have cool powers and weapons and projectiles that make them do cool special moves that look like 'mage powers'. I think if I remember correctly you guys may have thought Kai'Sa was also a mage....maybe Akali too ? i can't remember off the top of my head which champs you thought were mages, but they (and miss fortune) aren't classified as in game mages and they just do cool shit with their skillset. Some characters like Ahri seem like they might be a mage because she throws fireballs and has cool powers and sfx to her moveset but in game she might play completely differently to other "mage" archetype champions like Veigar, Lux, Vex or Syndra because Ahri is more mobile. So sometimes champs like her (and Akali) are more considered Assassins. Sylas is a mage in the lore but you wouldn't be able to tell by the cinematic because he fights hand to hand against Garen most of the 'warriors' fight scene. Even in game he's mostly in your face and plays like an assassin mostly using his chains to grab onto you like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat and the only real mage-looking powers he has is his Ultimate move where he can copy and steal any ultimate in the game from an enemy champion he's facing. It really depends on what 'role' they play in game. Kai'Sa and Miss Fortune (and Caitlyn and Jinx) play bot lane as an attack damage carry (or ADC as tehyre known) because they usually have shit mobility and lower mana pools (i use the term 'usually' bc you will get someone like Kai'Sa who is way more mobile) but they are really strong glass cannons late game because of their attack damage (meaning with each attack they pack a huge punch because of their item stats in late-game).

I know this is late, and old, and no one will probably see it, but... I noticed there are quite a few black people in Noxus too. Noxus us a nation of conquest. They go out and take over other nations assimilating them into their own. So my theory is that Noxus was possibly originally a nation where many dark skinned people were from or (if Riot decided to give them a place to be from at all they were one of the ones assimilated. I'm black so I was kind of hoping there would be a place rather than just being darker toned people scattered about and from nowhere. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

Dont mix the storyline of the ruined king (miss fortune, illaoi, Yasuo pyke braum and ahri) with ruination (sentinels of light). The first one is a prequel to the ruination. Viego isn't back until ruination. The ruined king has some cinematics with the blessed isles story. Like how viego unleashed the black mist

The thing with Poppy is that since she's a Yordle, she's a couple hundred years old now and she made friend with one of legendary blacksmith. The blacksmith gave her the Hammer that only the one who's worthy enough can wield it and told her to go and find a hero worthy enough and give it to them. Throughout her journey, she wasn't be able to find anyone worthy enough, but she didn't realize that she is the hero worthy of the hammer since she's very humble and brave and kind. You can see it through her line "I'm no hero, just a Yordle with a hammer" that she is extremely humble

Gwen was created by Viegos wife: Isolde! That's why he used Senna and Gwen to get Isolde back, because Gwen has a bit of Isolde in her because she is Isolde's creation, she also uses Isolde's scissor and needles as weapons ingame! When Isolde died, Viego tried to bring her back through the shadow isles, which was at that point not called shadow isles but Blessed Isles. By doing this, Viego revived Isolde as a ghost isch, and she killed him. That's how he became what he is now. The shadow Isles consumed Isolde, and I guess that's how she became a part of Senna, which is also why he used her along with Gwen to bring her soul back!

Ruination and sentinels of light were the most trashed event in the community. Characters whose entire lore is about ruination and shadow isles like Yorick or Hecarim not being here while they put Vayne there to make her a Bayonetta skin. Viego was done dirty. Lucian can bring his wife back from the dead but Viego can't, hypocritical. Riot writers failed miserably at Viego's character and conclusion. His love was real, he loved beyond life and death. He did everything to be with her again. So many people were upset with how Viego was ruined they later changed the lore so that Viego was like a toxic abuser and that his wife didn't actually love him. This event was an absolute disaster and it's known as one.

Karma gets so little recognition but she is incredibly important to Ionia. Karma itself is the spirit of Ionia and it reincarnates within mortal bodies sort of like the Avatar. Karma communes with her past lives and the spirit within her to lead her people. She is seen as a political counterpart to Irelia. Ionian's are pacifists (very much a Buddhist society) but Irelia as a young girl sparked the rebellion against Noxus by fighting in the frontlines with her blade dance. Karma wants to act to protect the land but politically she is aligned with the pacificists. Idk if it has been retconned yet but there was a moment where Karma sparked controversy for attacking an Noxian war ship while rebelling against her council and the advice of her past lives. She nuked it without much effort. Vayne is a raging racist. She wasnt saying Viego turned Shyvana into a monster. She was just calling Shyvana a monster cause she's a dragon. Viego just gave Vayne a reason to finally kill her. Shyvana is basically Demacia's pet dragon who's loyal to the kill cause he saved her. He keeps her there but everyone in Demacia hates it cause they hate things that are different... sound familiar?

You guys missed a video that is very important to the ruinnation 😂 it’s where we see how the Ruinnation came to be and how viego became the ruined king. I forget what it’s called but it’s a video introducing Viego to the Wild Rift game, ask your guides im sure they should know. Also, Viego’s wife loved him but she loved the way he was before not what he has become. He caused so much death and despair that she thinks it would be best if Viego moves on and let’s her go, he is not the man he once was when she fell in love with him.
