Not only are there the stories of over 100 characters to explore, but all the different continents and nations they come from have themselves such a plethora of diverse stories to tell. From civil war, to imperial expansion, to ghost stories, to heists and hijinks, to cosmic horror, to love stories, there's a little something for everyone. Or, if you're like me, a never-ending world of beautiful art. What a time to be alive.

Let me try to explain: there are some cinematics made to promote new champions released to the game. There are also musical cinematics that tell a little about the game's history and generally these are the cinematics of the annual League of Legends season (Also only musical too, without connection to main lore). And there are some with the sole purpose of telling stories about Runeterra. (Sorry about my English, isnt my First language)

​@@Aaniel_al.Meara. haha, the "Summoners"! I miss how terribly random stuff used to be, all the jankiness was pretty fun in its own right and led to the wide variety we have in champions' lore today. But yeah, the concept of the Summoners (what the players were called in game) probably made the most sense, since before, all these champions were getting plucked from different worlds and time periods - they justified that by saying we, the players, were summoning them to play in the League to decide their fates. Who's fates, maybe the champions' or maybe the Summoners', I forget. Iirc (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but "Summoner's Rift", the map where the main game is played, is a callback to this very same lore - gotta love it;)

You should watch Tales of Runeterra to get to know the regions, even if you're following a release order, it will improve your experience even more. I'll try to help a little: Demacia - Medieval Europe inspired, have been in conflict with Noxus for a while. They hate mages due to the rune wars, a historical even really important for runeterra lore. Noxus - Ancient Rome inspired. Very imperialist and try to dominate other regions, some of the characters use magic and some are more gladiator-like. Has a misterious character (LeBlanc) that is behind most events in current runeterra lore and people thought Mel was her for some reason lol Freljord - Scandinavia inspired, think vikings, demigods and a family beef that would give George R. R. Martin a run for his money. Has a connection with the void and the watchers. Targon - Ancient Greece inspired, the aspects are like greek gods and the tribes live around the Mount Targon which is like the Mount Olympus. Ionia - Asian inspired, ninjas, samurai, monks, mages. Most fanfavorite characters are from there like Ahri. Shurima - Ancient Egypt inspired, has a connection with the void. Ixtal - Mesoamerican inspired, jungle creatures like Rengar, a race called Vastaya that have a lot of subspecies around Runeterra. It's a newer region so there's not that much characters. Shadow Isles - inspired by ancient Carthage, Rome and Alexandria, used to be a beautiful realm with magic until Viego (the ruined king) fucked things up and they all became ghosts, there's something called the mist that haunts people in other regions (mostly Bilgewater, but during Ruination, Viego attacked other regions and controled other champions). Bilgewater - Pirates, sea monsters, sea gods, demons and ghosts. Bandle City - a magic realm that only Yordles (fey creatures like Heimerdinger, Smeech and that brothel lady in Zaun) The Void - another dimension where creatures called voidling and the watchers live, the void is believed to be a living thing that wants to consume all runeterra.

I think noxus is for sure the next region after arcane to explore, because for people who know lore. Noxus is ruled by 3 people right now, so there take on the council is something more like having 3 separately ruling people at the same time. But they all act independently And all 3 are already hinted at very supetile in arcane season 1 and even in the trailer for season 2 we got 1 fast shot that confirms it abit more. So the 3 leader of noxus I refer to are: -swain the grand general -Darius the hand of noxus -Leblanc the deceiver Last sidenote Swain in the current lore general, but there was someone else in the past. So depending on arcane timeline we will see who we got. I am just pretty sure we are in swains timeline right now

I'd recommend you just go for the season cinematics: Warriors (this one has characters you know!), Awaken, The Call, Still Here. Those are the best ones.

The world really seems that big - the Universe page for the League is fun to dive into if you don't mind falling down a rabbit hole. The best thing is that the lore stories are designed to be read individually, so you can start anywhere. Like Alex said in bridging the rift episode 1, these two cinematics are just "fight porn", just to showcase different champions fighting each other. None of these encounters are canon, is just to show what a 5 v 5 game feels like. After a new dawn riot would start putting actual lore into the new season cinematics, if I'm not mistaken the first one would be awaken. Btw, every year there's a new season cinematic around the first week of January, and also a worlds music video around October/November. Other extra cinematics like cinematics for a new skinline or something like that may also be released throughout the year, but these 2 are the main cinematics people expect from riot each year, the new season cinematic which involves champions from the game and new lore, and the worlds music video which is more focused on the pro players

Necrit is the king of LoL lore and his video are perfect for people wanting to know more about LoL. . While the MMO is on the back burner at the moment, it's a great dive into the world, especially for newbies.

This two are no canon at all. #Old Summorens Rift story. These were the simple cinematics from a long time ago! The weremade in the earlier days of the game,before they started really building the lore of Runeterra in detail. They aren't about story. They're just fights between characters to show off a little of their flavor and some of their abilities. The first one doesn't look like it was meant to show gameplay or story. It's just characters fighting random places, with a surprise cameo by Baron Nashor at the end. Nashor is that Void monster with many snake like heads.

I dont think they will go that deep into Noxus lore for season 2, because Noxus is super super complex and has a lot of people involved just to mention some (Darius,Draven;Le Blanc, Swain (which i think is probably the man who killed Mels brother), Samira, Katarina,Talon,Sion,Vladimir,Cassiopeia,Kled and many more).

mel mom is just a commander in noxus for sure... in noxus there is no king they don't believe in kings they kill kings because they see kings as a weak person.. so noxus has a 3 leaders Darius the hand of noxus he is the one with axe in this cinematic.. Swain the visionary ruler of noxus and Leblanc the faceless guile.. edit: maybe one of this factions killed mel's brother... because when mel mom said that the one who killed her brother is much more powerful than them.. so they needed to weaponize the hextech

Do you remember the mage that saved Jayce and his mother (and showed him teleportation)? It is rumored that it was Ryze, the blue guy you pointed out as "a mage" (who actually has a teleportation ability). I like that you started with some older cinematics, and work your way up from there, so you will also see the growth in quality. Besides the cinematics, I also recommend you to watch, at some point, some content of Necrit. A KZbinr who is like a walking encyclopedia for LoL and does a great job of explaining things. Even though you probably won't be interested in the upcoming MMO, I still think his video about "The World is already done" is good for you to watch, since it explains the world of Runeterra.

I know you mentioned this, but both of these videos were made to be cinematic representations of the gameplay. They have no lore implications at all. There are, in my mind, three main categories of League cinematics. 1. Gameplay (like these two) 2. Lore accurate 3. Alternate reality lore (mostly for skin lines and events) Some videos kind of fall in between or outside of those categories, but the alternate reality lore videos, like Odyssey, tend to confuse people. And League loves their music videos. Just expect music in a lot of videos.
