I'm a big fan of Modern Talking, Thanx for the Great reaction. MT was a German band from 1984 to 1987 then they split up, due disagreement, and then reunited in 1998 and then break-up in 2003, From '84-'87 they released 6 albums and from '98-'03 they released another 6 albums. The 7th Album: Back For Good in 1998 was the first after they reunited includes 4 new songs, 13 previous hits in a redone format and one medley. Some of the group's earlier hits were rehashed and arranged differently. After 1998, They make a couple previous hits in a redone format with a rapper named Eric Singleton.

This was their first single that didn't reach number one in Germany after five number one hits in a row. But nowadays for a lot of Germans their music is awkward. Dieter Bohlen was the head of the German version of American Idol for years. He's a real icon here, but also very controversial. Thomas Anders is a great live singer. Bohlen also produced other singers. My favourite of the 80s was C. C. Catch: Heaven and hell, Heartbreak hotel, Strangers by night, Cause you are young..

Yesss! I've been waiting for this, Modern Talking is my favorite band of all time they have so many fantastic songs. Please listen to more like There's too much blue in missing you, Lucky guy, Locomotion Tango, Atlantis is Calling, Like a hero, Ready for the victory. When they added the rap element Eric Singleton joined them for that you can try You are not alone or You're my heart you're my soul 98 remix. They also did music separately which was also great Thomas Anders had great songs like Soldier and The sweet hello, the sad goodbye. Dieter had other groups before Modern Talking formed which didn't go far firstly Steven Benson and then a group with two ladies called Sunday they had two singles if I'm not mistaken "Hale hey Louise" and "Jung und frei" which I personally loved. Modern Talking was his first real success though with Thomas Anders and he started writing songs for plenty of other artists like Engelbert Humperdinck, CC Catch and even Smokie. After Modern Talking he had a solo career Blue System with a group which consists of a band and background voices. He had great songs as well like My bed is too big, Magic Symphony and History.

As a German, I can tell you that your reaction is admirable in the sense that you show your enthusiasm ☺️. In Germany, when you show some affection for Modern Talking, people look at you funny because it's more of a guilty pleasure here. We have people here who absolutely hate Modern Talking, but on the other hand they had 5 number one hits in a row back then, so obviously a lot of people bought their records 😉. Those songs are just so damn catchy. You hear them once and you can't get them out of your head for the rest of the day 😀. I'd say there were four factors that made Modern Talking a hit: Dieter Bohlen, as composer and producer, Luis Rodriguez, the sound engineer who was also responsible for the proper disco/80s sound, the guys who sang the falsetto choruses and, of course, Thomas Anders, who is a great singer who was a wonderful fit for that kind of music. Although I'm not a fan, I think the single "Juliet" is pretty good and the album track "Blackbird" is even better.

Thankfully we don't have that situation in South Africa, anyone can say they love them, and for Germany it was and is a huge thing that they struck a chord in so many countries, I have all their albums on vinyl from that time. I think almost all Germans are proud of their success and the risk they took with this song formula
@aleccopile
@aleccopile 3 жыл бұрын
@@rodneydeananthony Well, Scorpions and Rammstein, for example, have more recognition here than Modern Talking, because both bands have a lot more credibility, while Modern Talking is seen as totally commercial and Dieter Bohlen as a person is quite controversial. It's funny, whenever Klaus Meine of the Scorpions gives interviews, pretty much every time he says "We just played a tour in America, big shows in Russia and in France" and so on and I dare say that the German public doesn't really believe that right away. I think overall we're pretty suspicious at first when it comes to that 😀. When it comes to Modern Talking, I give them credit for being successful abroad. You have to respect that, whether you like the music or not, because that's something that not everyone has achieved.

They never been a duo in terms of singing! Dieter is producer and songwriter - he doesn't sing neither plays gitar if you watch closely! Thomas is the only singer here! Plenty of hits from "Modern Talking". Love it!!!

I soule love that you react to a Brel's song ! As : Amsterdam / Ne me quittes pas / Ces gens-là / Les vieux amants or else la valse a mille temps... Oh and Edith Piaf ! La foule, milord, hymne à l'amour, je ne regrette rien... Thanks for your content, I love the fact that you democratise these types of songs
