Something about the line “I’m the subject matter you’re part of the scenery”. I didn’t take it as “im important” although it’s prob a double. I took it as “im the subject matter literally” the song is called sick boi. It’s him. It’s about his life, struggles, and pain. The subject of the entire song is *himself*. And even if he liked the beat, he can tell his story without kujo. Which is a powerful point, I think.

Yay for more Ren! I def recommend watching the 30min video he posted on his KZbin in full, where he explains the context (I’ll briefly summarise below). Cuz it’s actually NOT a copyright issue!! It’s absolutely devastating that Sick Boi no longer exists anywhere… it’s a song that meant the absolute world to me and legit changed my life. I can’t wait for his re-release version of it soon 🖤. Very long story (kinda) short: Kujo copyright striked ‘sick boi’ as a means of pure leverage over Ren - claiming it was his only way to get Ren’s attention, forcibly taking the video down. There is NO copyright issue at all. But kujo is essentially demanding more profit from Ren, making all sorts of wrongful claims about their initial contract from Beat Stars (a platform that connects producers to artists), saying Ren violated the contract (which is incorrect). It sort of all started because kujo used a STOLEN sample from a Bulgarian choir in his beat that Ren purchased and then used in sick boi. Ren purchased that beat from Kujo legally via Beat Stars, with an unlimited licence. And it’s on the producers (Kujo) to ensure the beats they sell are 100% their own work, unless otherwise disclosed to the artist who purchased it (as per the ‘beat stars’ contract). Kujo did not disclose that his beat contained a stolen sample. And that Bulgarian choir came knocking to (rightfully!!) claim their sample was used without permissions and claiming some form of payment (that bit isn’t super clear in the story tbh). And that spiralled Kujo into demanding more. Kujo and his girlfriend were being incredibly rude to Ren, lying in public forums, and refusing any olive branches that ren was offering (which tbh he didn’t even need to do, since it was kujo’s fault for using a stolen sample and therefore violating the contract…). Anyway, sick boi is now officially off ALL platforms. Ren just had to take it down to end the drama and stop the leverage Kujo was holding over him… I’m devastated for Ren, and I am so frustrated that he was forced to stand up for himself in this way. He is a man of principle, and truly does like to see the good in humanity

I believe kujo became pressed because the Bulgarian choir wanted to claim 50% of the profits to make them whole, which is a lot of money compared to what Ren paid for the beat, but Ren didn't owe that money kujo did. Ren did try to raise the producer credits for kujo to help offset the cost, and offered to create a song with a 50/50 Master split, but kujo kept pushing for a split of the master for sick boi and turned down other offers. That in addition to holding the copy right strike over Ren's head which could get Ren demonitzed. Caused Ren to take sick boi down as demonitizing his channel would be devastating

I’m one of the few that actually doesn’t want a Part 2 because I want this to be done with for Ren. At this point the longer it goes on the more it drains you- mentally, emotionally and physically. Ren just spent 1 1/2 years in Canada undergoing treatment and after everything he’s been through he doesn’t deserve to have this weighing on him.

The full story in a nutshell is that Ren bought the beat for Sick Boi through a website from Kujo...but it turns out there is a sample in that beat (The Bulgarian choir) that Kujo didn't own and should not have been selling. The choir came after Kujo for their cut, so Kujo tried to get it from Ren. The contracts were clear, this was Kujo's problem, but he still tried to copyright claim Sick Boi. Ren offered resolution (even though he did nothing wrong) by doing a colab with Kujo, and Kujo refused. Kujo and his GF talked a bunch of stuff...so here we are.

You may not get it at first, but that is Ren speaking to himself like he did in Hi Ren You will put that together as you see the second part of the video when Kujo comes out, tied up in the chair I’ll add a couple points in case you weren’t aware Kujo made a beat from a stolen sample Ren unknowingly bought a beat that he thought was cleared The song takes off and Kujo wants more than his publishing share which Ren acknowledges he is due Kujo wants 15% retroactively and forever for the song sick boy Kujo states that unless Ren complies to that request that he will take 100% of the song as his own Cujo then places a copyright strike on the song and essentially uses it as leverage Ren tries many times to work things out and even suggested going 5050 in on a song together with Kujo, which essentially would put that guy on the map Cujo declines the offer and Ren ends up taking the song down him himself as he does not want to be leveraged by his own work Totally crazy situation and Ren is pissed off

Nice reaction. You need to check out Ren's 35 minute video outlining the background to this beatdown. Justice and persistence prevails. Ren put the call out to his followers to get his Kujo Beatdown to a million views within a week. It hit one million views in 4 days. Yesterday KZbin now realizes that Ren was sold an illegal sample in bad faith, and so they have restored 'Sick Boi' to the platform, and they have taken away the copyright strike. I suspect that Kujo will have to pay the Bulgarian Choir 50% from his earnings off Sick Boi. Ren has also just had a face to face meeting with the head of KZbin music. (see his comments in his channel post). Go Ren.
