Thank you everyone for checking this out. Nicholas Theisen was a courageous person who battled a lot of his demons in silence. He really wanted to be better but hated the side effects of the medication that was helping him. I only wish I had a better understanding at the time of what he was dealing with. He would rather suffer in silence then burden you with his problems. He felt like less of a man if he said anything & I hate he went through it alone. Thank You Ren & Chinchilla for this song. You really painted a perfect picture of the struggles people have with this & really helps me organize my own issues & gives me strength to keep trying & know tomorrow can always be better when you feel better. Thank you everyone!

Damn. I'm only 6 mins in, but I had to tell you how sorry I am you went through that. Just please remember everyone grieves differently. Hell, a single person can grieve 3 deaths in 3 different ways. The what-ifs have to go away. What helped me was talking about them. Regaling stories of adventure, and how they affected your life. You could do it here! Maybe react to a song he loved, or a song that makes you think of him? Hugs 💜

I AT A LOSS❤🥹 Seriously… thank you to everyone who has left unbelievably kind thoughts here. I never thought ever that a song would hit like this did for me. It really was therapeutic & very unexpected. Just another way to keep his memory alive & just maybe might help someone else get through their pain. It’s never easy dealing with a loss like this but getting his story out could help someone else who might be struggling to know you’re ok even if you don’t think you’re ok & know this temporary circumstance is not your permanent situation. Thank you REN & Chinchilla for this masterpiece. Really helped me in ways I never knew it could. 😮😊❤

The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers. This song always reminds me that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️ Also… I am sorry for your loss 🖤 Ren has a few songs that might be very worth checking out though I am sure they will also be tough: Freckled Angels -> Suic!de -> For Joe. Maybe you can find a bit of solace in his music?

This was a lovely reaction, and I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my father to bipolar, but luckily I was young enough to not realise what had happened. I think you’d appreciate How to be Me by Ren and Chincilla too, there’s a tribute to Joe, who Ren lost as a teen. Chincilla Fingers live and 1:5 are amazing too, I can’t see you appreciate her voice

I'm so sorry for your loss, Mike - thank you for sharing some of your story with us. This is a powerful song, and I get chills every time I hear it! I took meds for years, and sometimes they helped, sometimes they didn't. You're right - it's a really difficult balance to find. Chinchilla is definitely worth checking out - her solo stuff is very different. She said once in an interview that a lot of her songs reflect the things that she wishes she would have/could have said in various situations. As others have noted, Chinchilla is actually quite shy in "real life," but when she puts on those nails and an elaborate costume (usually with a hat that she made herself!), she's ready to become FIERCE! I would suggest you start with her live performance of Fingers for Hunger TV.

Already did. This song has done more for his mom than me by far! She carries a lot of guilt not taking his bipolar diagnosis more seriously until he was consumed by it. I think it’s a hard thing for my previous generation to really empathize with how delicate one’s mental state cannot be fixed by a simple pill. So sad to look back & hear from my dad to “suck it up & stop crying! What is wrong with you?” Heard it so many times. Sad but true. Thank you again
@Dr.Brummel6 күн бұрын
@@BigMikeReactions Dealing with the feelings of guilt is so difficult. I know this from my own experience when a friend of mine ended his live. Rationally, I knew that I couldn't have done anything. But I still asked myself that question over and over again.

@@BigMikeReactions Regarding your experience of having to be tough. I had a similar experience. I'm approaching 60 now and my father grew up in WW2 (I'm from Germany). He probably always had to be tough and never managed/learned to change that later on. I think it's our job to do better. Every generation has to get a little better. That way we can develop further. Unfortunately only slowly, but at least. ❤🫂

Hi Mike, I'm sure we all agree that not only do we hear your take on Rens lyrics, we see that many of them hit you very hard without any commentary needed ! Especially evident in your reaction to The Tales of Jenny, Screech and Violet..... Ren always portrays the pain with such Powerful & Beautiful lyrics/ words that most can't find, he's a voice for so many people already & only more people will learn this in the future. Sorry to hear about Nicholas, the photo makes me think of a quote from Immanuel Kant , a German philosopher from the 1700 and early 1800's..... " He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men....We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.” As for suggestions Rens " 1990's " or " What You Want " & Chinchillas " MF Diamond ", will lift you spirits for sure ! P.S. Close to that 1000 subs, my friend !

Thank you for the thoughtfulness! Have this song on repeat all day! Hits you in the “feels” in a good way. His mom really loved how it turned out…. Despite the low audio & visual hiccup… but the editing is getting better. Still pretty green on that part. 🙏

@ nah man your doin just fine! No one comes for the edits and they will get a little better each time. Keep up the great work. And as for that hitting you in the feels… a lot of RENs music will do that! Just space it out with some happy stuff too! The love music 1-4 is great, power, streetlights, halftime, back on 74…. So many feel good songs in the mix too! Never mind when you start looking at Collins and the big push! lol I would like to suggest a song for you that is new but it is a little heavy if you want to put it off. “Baggage” with Chris Webby and ten. I think you’ll really appreciate that one like you do chalk outlines.
