Just a microphone and God given talent. Among those backup vocalists is Cher...yes, that Cher. She was 16 at the time. This was known as Phil Spector's Wall of Sound. You need to listen to EBB Tide and Soul and Inspiration. I was raised with this music when artists had talent and you could understand the words. The audience showed respect by sitting and shutting up and listening.

Bill Medley is the baritone and Bobby Hadfield is the tenor. Produced by Phil Spector with his famous ‘wall of sound’: the voices are superimposed onto a rich track including string arrangements. Another good example of this is Tina Turner’s River deep, Mountain high.

Love your reactions & real appreciation for the greats! Unchained Melody from The Andy Williams Show, is Bobby Hatfield's untouchable & impossible to improve or exceed in its' mastery! It is better than the studio version, but his is the greatest studio cover ever and no one has or can do it better! Although nervous, because his mom was in the audience, he flawlessly & what looks to be effortlessly, performs a stunning rendition that physically, feels like he takes out your heart, captures your soul & you become the owner of his "soul cry" to his lover in the song's story. At the same time, it becomes your own "soul cry" to your lover if you have ever lived or will live this song's story. It becomes a 'soul cry' that you run to re-live over & over because it is the epitome of sweetest misery & need, that you want & need! It is incredible & timeless & forever relevant! Unchained Melody, (by Bobby), is every woman's dream to be loved so much as this. And it is every man's plea for his love to remember him & wait; when unforeseen & uncontrollable circumstances rain doubt & hopelessness upon their memory & covenant. It is reaffirmed with his promise to return & his plea to wait for him. Fun fact: Cher was one of those background singers in this video, today.! Another must is Soul And Inspiration- Righteous Brothers Phil Specter-Incredible! Sadly, this genius of sound, died in prison. But here is a link to learn a bit about his 'wall of sound'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goPQg3Woo7akbtE I hope you react to many songs that he worked on but I absolutely, hope you react to "Maybe" by The Chantels. OhMyHeart-----> "Maybe", may be, another one of those greats that you randomly find yourself singing 10 years from now, out of nowhere & for no reason, except that it is a great song, greatly done! LOL. Also, "Be My Baby"- The Ronettes. Specter produced so many of these for various artists! Have fun. Love your reactions!

Music reactions started popping up on my phone almost two years ago. I was amazed to hear young people being amazed by the wonderful music of my day! I think my generation took it for granted because there wasn’t ( and still isn’t) anything better to compare it to. I can’t wait till you react to Bobby’s solo of Unchained Melody. Be sure to play the whole video of Bobby and Bill chatting with Andy Williams before Bobby sings. You definitely will not believe how amazing his performance is.

This video is a hybrid. You are seeing the visual from a live performance on a show called Shindig and hearing the studio version featuring the trademark Phil Spector "Wall of Sound." When Spector brought the song to them, Bobby was a little peeved and asked, "What am I supposed to do while Medley's singing this song?" Spector's reply, "Go to the bank."

‘It’s not always the ‘80’s.’ Truer words have never been said! This ‘60’s is the decade where the ‘80’s performers got a lot of their ideas. I have read that this particular song is the most coveted pop/rock n roll song, ever. Not sure if that is true, but could be! Either way, it doesn’t surprise me that it has been popular for year and years. And with singers of the caliber of the Righteous Brothers, you just can’t go wrong. Those two were amazing!

It’s a Phil Spector production , no wonder why it’s amazing. His wall of sound consiste of locking up a musicien with his instrument in a big empty room. The purpuse was to creat an echo, that was going to mutiply the sound. I think that’s wath it was.

This Song is next to "Stairway To Heaven" the most frequently played Song in The history of Radio. This was from Shindig a Rock & Roll Show from the 1960's. Phil Spector was the first Superstar Record Producer who would later influence Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and Michael Tretow (ABBA's Producer). Brian wrote an Answer Song "Don't Worry Baby" after hearing "Be My Baby". Sadly both Fellows sold their Rights because they didn't think their sound would be popular. When their songs were featured in Ghost, Top Gun & The Wonder Years they didn't get paid. Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound was having Classical Music in their songs. Listen To The Ronettes, The Paris Sisters, The Teddy Bears (that he was a group member in), The Crystals, The Blossoms, Bob B Sox & The Blue Jeans, and Darlene Love.

So glad you enjoyed the Dynamic Duo. I've been a big fan since 1964. Bobby does a terrific solo Unchained Melody. Their other great songs include For once in my Life, Little Latin Lupe LU, Soul and Inspiration. They were both on 🔥 Fire doing Night Time is the Right Time. Hard to believe Bill(deep voice) is 82. He's currently performing in Florida 10 shows with Bucky Heard. Sadly Bobby Hatfield passed in 2003, sadly missed. Keep up the good work.

Thx a lot. So great reaction, a jam to see you enjoying this gem. Blue eyed soul at its best. Love this song since its issue, incredible, melody, rendition and awsome Spector's wall of sound . A treat! Wall of sound always drove me crazy, today it's still what I'm expecting before I discover a new song. A bunch of 60's arrangers were trying to recreate those outstanding effects. This song is one of the 60's greatest cult songs just like "Unchained melody" (deeply mesmerizing). Others songs I suggest; "Ebb tide" and "He". In the quite same style of music and vocals, it would be very nice and outstanding to discover the trio The Walker Brothers who did several hits with also "Phil SPECTOR's "wall of sound" effects: "The sun ain't gonna shine anymore", (huge worldwide hit), " Make it easy on yourself", the so emotional "Stay with me baby ", "Walking in the rain", "No regrets"., ... They weren't brothers. The lead singer, Scott ENGEL (or Scott WALKER ) was an icon . He deeply influenced David Bowie, (they did duets together), Marc Almond, Jarvis Coocker, Neil Hannon (Divine Comedy) and many more others artists. He did solo albums including many covers of Jacques Brel's songs. .
