I live in El Paso, TX which is border of Ciudad Juarez, where the bridge scene was shot. From 2008 to about 2010 it was the murder capital of the world. Still to this day is in the top 5 most dangerous cities in the world.

Lived there from 87-96. Things turned in the late 90s. Once the army enlisted were prevented from partying in Juarez, there was no entertainment market to protect.

The beginning of the movie is told from Emily Blunt's character's perspective. That's why you learn as she learns. In the tunnel scene, when Alejandro shoots her in the chest plate, we switch to Alejandro's story, which is what the other stories were converging on.

Because That’s the kind of things this director puts into his movies. He’ll put something small at the beginning of the movie that turns out to be something crazy by the end

27:40 I have wondered if the point is that this was a setup from the start. People have said that Emily Blunt is not actually the main character, the Sicario is. So does that go a step further and they didn’t actually ‘need’ Emily, they needed the guy from Get Out-because that’s awfully convenient that he happened to be friends with a dirty cop who works for the guy they’re trying to catch. And him being friends with Emily was a good inroad to grab the dirty cop because she’s single.
