This was my very first 12" single I bought back in '84. It's a brilliant version and well worth a listen. It clocks in at almost 10 minutes long!

One of my favorite bands from the new wave era. A friend of mine knew the promoter and after the concert we took the band out clubbing and then to an after hours restaurant in Coumbus. Very nice people. They were about to make an appearance on American Bandstand and were asking us about the show. We told them it's our version of Top of the Pops and they understood the significance of the appearance. Other songs to check out: In the Name of Love, Lies, Love on Your Side, Doctor, Doctor, The Gap. Great band Dereck!

Such a great song! I was a teen in the 80s and yes growing up in this Era was amazing. I've been in the music industry for many many years and my own personal opinion is 60s to 90s were by far the most creative amazing era for popular music hands down. Nothing compares to it today. Not even close.

Thompson Twins were defo a vibe. Have a copy of Into The Gap on cassette still. I would agree this is their best song, the lyrics have something in common with us all (we can all relate in some way), the instrumentation is complete sounding and top drawer production throughout. A nice old cosy song / subtle earworm.

One of those great songs that over time get lost , I remember hearing it before as a kid but then rediscovered it thanks to reaction channels ,bought the single 45 vinyl a few months ago . Tom Bailey the founder and lead singer had just started flirting with drum machines to get this beat at least I remember him saying something like that in a interview, still playing live btw although he is the only original member now he has 3 females that are with him one plays bass ,one on drums and one on keyboard! Your funny Derek I’m the same way I can’t just listen to this song i just randomly start signing lol nice reaction to a dope song!

This was their biggest hit in the US reaching number 3. You should try their song Sister Of Mercy which is based on true story that Tom read about a wife being abused by her husband for 25 years until she couldn't take it anymore and killed him with a knife.

I think you knew this song. And well. You broke your cover, when you suddenly knew the lyrics before they happened. LOL! Must be hard for you youtubers to pretend you’re completely “unfamiliar” with iconic songs that are on radio even today. Feigning complete ignorance. Not a very good actor.
