Derek, your passion and love for French music should earn you the title of ambassador of French musical culture here in the US. Keep up the awesome work! - A French guy

yes top 3 for sure. The problem is finding the video with quality audio. A solution would be to use spotify in playback...

Great memories from when I was 15 when I was in 9th Grade at college. ☺😊🥰😍🤩 I remember this song by this new female artist who had just arrived with her particular universe without knowing that years and decades later she would still be there. Reminds me especially of CLIP which at the time was a bit "shocked" and also was censored I believe on the M6 channel and was broadcast late at night unlike the encrypted channel canal +, which put it in the clear in its ranking of the TOP 50 at the time, it "passed" cream like the CLIP the same year Beyond My Control by Mylène Farmer which also had the right to censorship except of course on the channel being known and renowned for broadcasting every first Saturday of the month an adult film at midnight! 😁😅 When you make a reference to the title “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morisette, Zazie’s was released 3 years before! Certainly due to the fact that the 90's were very eclectic musically with dance music, rock, grunge like Nirvana or Guns'N'Roses at the same time which in a certain way must have influenced the composer (Vincent-Marie Bouvot) or the female singer knowing that Zazie was an admirer of the British singer Peter Gabriel whom she met in early 1992 while recording in his studios in London.

Lyrics in english (translation from Google) : It's been moons since I picked up my pockets have been full for years sorry, baby but it will be light years that you have lost the art and the manner you have to move, my baby you need to bring your nights up to date and not always in the dark I want to see it love is not the sea to drink and the hotter it gets and it's beautiful my baby love must be done with a half heart Sweety salty you can come back your classics among the Greeks I know enough to leave you the taste of babies sweet - salty (Resuming the theme) I've been gravitating for days around your sleep, I get restless and I have skin... that takes the o... along my back there are ants running around should get a room with a view... on love we need sand for our toes the wall of sound in our ears a honey cure for bees everything is moving in the red my baby love must be done with a half heart Sweety salty you can come back your classics among the Greeks I know enough to leave you the taste of a baby Sweety salty we love each other enough to to taste like a baby Sweety salty baby my baby one who will made in you and me my baby Sweety salty my baby

Hi Dereck, This track has excellent production. I also like Zazie's phrasing, which gives bite to the verses. However, I'd have appreciated a more melodic chorus that breaks up the verses better and stays in my head after listening. Here, I find it a bit linear. But this remains a personal opinion. Peace, folks. ☮👈😎

Zazie is one of the greatest French artist … she plays with words as Gainsbourg was doing … by nit knowing French you unfortunately lost 50% of the song interest.
