It may be personal but she has been singing lyrics like this pouring out the emotion without ever experiencing it. She just has lots of empathy and can get into the proper mood for the song. She is an amazing singer also a great actor.

I respectfully disagree. Angelina has many times in the past expressed emotions she could never have experienced herself because of age. She could easily do the same now given she is older and much more mature. That quality and talent is what is so fascinating about her. "How does she do that' is the question most asked which is answered with the word 'prodigy' they just do with ease what is impossible for the rest of us and that fact always remains hard for us to believe because we have no personal reference for it.

I agree it’s likely personal. She wrote this, one of about 100 songs she has in the wings, she said on her live. Not much of a stretch to think she has had a first love in her five years at school in the US-someone who told her she was too good for them, blaming her for the break up rather than taking responsibility for it. For anyone who has experienced that, it explains the anger and utter anguish she emotes so believably with her voice, face, hands, and body. This is different emoting than what is typical on a cover.
@dojoswitzer Жыл бұрын
@@TheodorussfoI am going to respectfully disagree, and consider that the name of the album, ‘Old Enough’ has multiple meanings; not just that she is old enough to start recording and performing regularly, but also that she is old enough to sing from emotional experience without being questioned about it, which many criticized when she was young (and you may be continuing to perpetuate with your comment). On a couple of occasions she has stressed that she understood the meaning in lyrics that people thought were beyond her understanding.
@Theodorussfo Жыл бұрын
@@dojoswitzer That's hilarious Yes she understands the meaning of lyrics that is obvious And she has understood those lyrics without the experience that too is obvious. To assume she has experience beyond her years is called presumption. I believe putting Angelina into experiences we can't know she had is just bad form and down right disrespectful to her or to anyone. Just because you can't understand how Angelina does it doesn't mean she can't, She obviously can and has.
@AbbieCrescendo Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's about the love of a partner but more of a close family member, perhaps her father, maybe ??? He has not been in the picture and I heard that her mom was dating someone else, again ??? You don't plan to love your parent, you just do. A parent may think that they are protecting you by not exposing their true feelings about things and are willing to lie until it explodes in their face, hurting you deep in your soul. This is just me thinking of a story. Angelina's lyrics goes deeper than just the surface and it's open for imagination. She writes based on experiences and I'm sure that she's very observant of her surroundings and listens carefully to what people talk about in her presence and asked many questions. Thank you LS for the reaction, love her performance.

Hi, Leo. A writer can write in first person without it being autobiographical. She's an empath, and I think she can get inside any story and make it sound like her own. I spent a lot of time at first speculating, "Is this about her Dad? A false longtime friend? Or?" I felt that Love Don't Let Me Go was her telling her Grandma Mery's love story of early widowhood. Let's just say there was disagreement about that. But I think that is why Grandma Mery is so prominent in that video, which is my proof that I am correct. (And every single widow or widower I'm aware of gets it immediately) However, this song, if we don't want to wildly speculate about private areas of Angelina Jordan's life up to 2023, we have to assume she could have had a crush and been led on, etc. or she's inside someone else's story and able to capture and emote accurately complex feeling. Or some mix of the two. But as she matures into young adulthood as an almost 18 yo., if she's going to have a long career, we must assume the use of first person to be a writing technique. In the music industry, it is possible that a first person point of view makes the story more believable to the ear of the other. But, in the end, I tell myself to enjoy the song and remember that as a young child she was able to convey Billy Holiday's emotional truth without having lived it. So nice to see you again. Grandma Ellen, out.
@roddiener1235 Жыл бұрын
I agree, her level of musicality and capacity to grasp emotion and express it in the abstract is far and above what a normal 17 year old should be able to convey. Unlike a Taylor Swift who has actually gone through a small army of boyfriends to build a formidable library of love gone awry torch songs. AJ's on whole other level. And the best thing about all this, she's just getting started!

I just wrote a comment and then read this, and I would be very shocked if you has not had a crush on a boy that at the time felt like love. This is what I commented "I know most of the Angels are like grandparents to Angelina, and I am as well, but I can remember being a young teen. I remember a very cute boy when I was in high school, taking an interest in me, we never went on a date but everyday he would walk me to class and treat me like I was his girlfriend, I really fell for him, I was the fool, cause the next week, he acted like I didn't exist and he was off with some other girl. And I think girls just feel things deeper than guys. Yes it hurt my soul. I am 70 now been married have kids and grandkids, and I remember how much that hurt, and that guy I am sure does not remember me at all."

I don’t know what happened. I learned a long time ago not to assume anything, especially with someone we all look up to as a star. We might be lucky to see her for 1/2-2 hours a day, whether it be in videos, at a concert, or wherever she might be out, if we’re lucky. We don’t know much about any other part of her life except for what she decides to tell us or little bits from her mom, grandma, uncle, and others in her family. I mean, in Now I'm The Fool, I felt it, especially in the last 45 seconds of the song, where she uses "it hurts my soul" multiple times, especially in her Angelina "pull the emotion out of you" Jordan voice. She’s definitely old enough to date, and I was hoping it wouldn’t turn out in this fashion if it’s true. Look, I don’t know what happened, but if this is factual, then that person better crawl under a rock forever, and if this whole story is false and just created for this song, then she’s gone from a good actress to a completely fabulous actress, although I think it’s based on her past failed relationship, and I still think she is a terrific actress! ❤

Great song: I don't think there is any need to believe it relates to a real experience - she is perfectly capable of emoting to this level based on her imagination... I agree it could be great if she really belted the ending and suspect she might do this when she (as usual) improvises on the song for a live performance...
